Their own boards reckon the following are all out for our game: ----- Carrick Hargreaves Park Anderson Nani Saha Rooney Ronaldo Welbeck Manucho Dong ------- It's still Man Utd and it's still at Old Trafford but that list makes things look a lot better.

What I'm guessing is that Keegan is employing the same kind of tactics I do on FM. I always have a shit preseason in terms of results in FM and it's because everyone's on full aerobic and strength training and not much ball control / tactical / shooting or attacking. Towards the end I switch them over and get off to a little bit of a slow start but that extra fitness training in the offseason does good for us towards the end of the season. I think the quotes will back up the fact he's really focusing on the fitness side right now. We'll pay the price by losing a few meaningless friendlies but we'll be thanking him come February.

There aren't enough 's in the world.

So now they're suddenly jumping on the anti-child labor bandwagon because Joey Barton kicked the shit out of a fellow scouser in front of a McDonald's? I think they're just pointing out the not insignificant amount of hypocrisy involved in the back-patting and lauding of it as an "act of decency" to terminate the contract of someone involved in a fight while the company itself engages in such indecent practices.

Oh hey we're signing a class defender, let's all get at each others throats about anything else in the thread about him.
-
He does; he can't run 10 consecutive yards without fouling someone.
-
Split his sides laughing at Smith already?
-
I thought he was a center back, not a central midfielder? Well if we're being picky, he's also a power station not a cooling tower

"The power station would go away in exchange for 11 million Euros. " Babelfish translation of the fucking year

Would be very pleased with such a high profile defender, don't get me wrong at all, but I hope to hell we've got some midfield depth coming in as well.
-
I can see it now, a throng of geordies dancing in the street, some lanky piece of work getting up in front of the camera, "We're gannin win the fair play league like!!"
-
I hope they lowballed him to begin with, knowing he'd ask for more at the 11th hour, and we'd only pay what we valued him at anyway.
-
I agree, and hope that's the way it's viewed up top as well.

touchy touchy, was just thinking out loud about an idea that occurred to me like they way you discredit it with no supporting evidence whatsoever though by saying it's "daft", as good as my "applecart" one that What supporting evidence do I need other than to show that the idea is untenable, unworkable and unproductive? There's been no club to ever even try to employ a strategy like that and for good reason. It just wouldn't work long term, it would cripple them financially and in the transfer market, the odds of success are roughly zero. And that applecart bit is just more of the same I see on this board from people all too eager to accept any crackpot theory about Ashley as being equally as likely as any other just because hes a "maverick" in the business world.
-
Vetere is the one with encyclopedic knowledge and mega contacts. Jimenez, who also has some contacts in the footballing world, is more the "closer" for deals. Which doesn't change the fact that this whole theory is a load. How long, realistically, could a club get away with doing things like that? 2 transfers? 3? Chairmen do talk to chairmen. It might fly for one transfer window before we'd be either unofficially blacklisted by other clubs or officially arseraped by the FA/FIFA. The idea that it wouldn't matter as Ashley would cut and run doesn't fly either because, again, no club would buy the players he got at a cut rate. The plan simply wouldn't work and it's ludicrous to think that's what's in place. However, I did like the attempt to lend credence to it with the whole "Ashley is renowned for upsetting the applecart" bit. As though any daft theory is made immediately more probable because he doesn't mind bending the status quo.

Regardless, fuck spurs.
