is it that unreasonable to think a club in our position would move for their primary targets first rather than aiming to get squad players in? squad players are not exactly our priority are they? we've got plenty of average, we need some above average-very good players is it unreasonable to think that we can do both at the same time, or is it accepted transfer etiquette to make all your big signings first and only at the end bring in squad players?

Right, it was either Diane or 3-4 first teamers and we've clearly made the wrong choice
-
Even if there isn't I'd like to take this opportunity to again state fuck off, spurs.
-
So those are their figures coming in from the championship

Possible renegotiations of contracts after that finish, we also brought on le sib and a few others.

Wouldn't even bother getting the Womens team involved, Sister Agatha's Children of the Poor orphan reserve XI could beat the USA's mens team. FFS we couldn't string together three passes, our crosses not only didn't beat the first man every time, they dribbled to a stop at his feet and our close control belied either long standing inner ear problems or severe mental retardation. The only high point was listening to the commentators struggle for 90 minutes to pick up any positives for a US audience, hoping to somehow drum up and help build support here in the states. Roll on 08/09, summer can't be over quick enough. edit: Harsh, but fair. THe only thing worse than watching the MNT is watching the mongoloid throngs in face paint and uncle sam hats chanting "U! S! A!" Couple that with our shit team and it just pisses me off to no end.

He hasn't assassinated those ahead of him in the pecking order at chelsea, clearly lacks guile and motivation. Stay away.

can you cunts keep from quoting the entire article over and over for your one line responses?

No. Not at any price.

I voted the second option but reading binnsys post something struck me. It may be just my own flawed reasoning/rationale but it's worth posting to see if others are getting this feeling too ... It was the phrase "money situation" that caught my eye. And what struck me was remembering that Ashley said, upon taking over, that he had champions league and league title aspirations, within 5 years. No doubt even at that time he understood that would mean massive investment to realize, but was a possibility. But when KK came out and said that not only are we nowhere near the top 4, we won't even be sniffing at it for many, many years, I believe it took the wind out of MA's sails and he's had a second think about what this will all take, not only in terms of money but of time. Now, I don't think it's made him want to sell for a quick 50m profit or whatever amount is being bandied about by the lie merchants in the rags, but it would have made him rethink that his typical maverick approach wasn't going to work this time. MA won't be investing Abromovich like sums and we will not experience a meteoric rise back up the table. I do think (and of course like all of us it's conjecture) that we'll still see a big investment this summer but not in the £60-100m range some think is necessary. All that said I do think we'll find ourselves top 7 within two years and maybe cracking the top 4 within 5. It will just take time and patience and I only hope that both men are afforded a fair measure of each.

Bit of an extreme example but I agree with the sentiment. Martins is the only one of the front three to be able to create something out of nothing. Owen relies on service from others, Viduka can be dangerous but only from just inside the box. Oba is the only one that's a threat from anywhere.

This is entirely reasonable and plausible so expect it to upset some people.

Please spell out for me where I said those words. Or, because you will fail to do so as I never said such a thing, please explain the logical mis-conclusions you reached through reading my one post that led you to the belief that I am losing sight of what it takes to succeed. We are worlds apart as clubs when it comes to Sunderland. You know that, I know that. Comparing one summers worth of gross overspending on average players by the dog wanker to one summer where we didn't break the bank means nothing. That was the entire poing I was making.
-
Stating "When even newly promoted sides were spending ..." as though it was the norm. What you really mean is "when Sunderland spent £40m" because no other promoted side, and few established ones, spent anywhere near that. That's what you meant, isn't it? Of course it is. Does that mean that by pointing to Sunderland as a yardstick to measure transfers by you're backing their valuation of Chopra at 5m? Keiran Richardson at 5.5? Craig Gordon at 9m? Remind me where they finished?

f**k the mancs. That is all.

Yes, I can see it now. Modric: "Hmmm, Spurs are offering me European football and life in London, which I like. However Newcastle once broke the world Transfer record and are historically a 'bigger' club. F**k it that's settled then, make a Geordie out of me."
-
that one, however, was painful.
-
Straw that broke the camels back tbh. Don't know what it would take to restore my faith in the current leadership.

Steve McClarens face on that page. What the hell? Article title in the browser : "berbatov slept in spurs shirt" Article title on page : "berbatov slept in toon shirt" Quite the milf though, and I like the name Margarita

So, if I'm reading you right, old and young signings are both prone to working or not working out? Wouldn't sneeze at deco and I think the 24 y/o thing is rubbish.

Dr Thaksin!?

Do you go around telling kids there's no Santa too, fredbob?

Gomis and now Diane. Think we're doing the right thing looking at buying French. Caught a lot of Ligue 1 this year and of the continental leagues I think it's very, very close to the English game in terms of blend of physicality and skill. Don't think players coming in would have too much adapting to do on the pitch. I do rate the Bundesliga in that respect too but either we're reluctant to buy from them or they're reluctant to sell, I don't know.
