After an hour or so I was wondering why Benny wasn't resting any of his big players for the CL. Then it dawned on me, they were having to put in zero effort to keep the ball from us and it basically descended into a simple training exercise for them.

Did I hear somewhere that this is Motson's last game? I hope so.

I am gobsmacked he has played in 68 of the 142 games since he has been here. I would have guessed somewhere around half that.

The iron on badges were for the change from Greenall's to the blue star. Didn't quite think them through though so we ended up with a horizontal black stripe across the middle of the shirt!

I've never understood the call for a winter break. How is squeezing the games into less time meant to help anyone? Fair enough, spread the games out more evenly across October and November but why stop playing for a while in December/January?

If it was 1983 then that was my first game too, 4-0 Keegan got one from the spot
