  1. Worth revisiting Squires at this time of year: https://www.theguardian.com/football/cartoon/2014/nov/13/david-squires-footballers-wearing-poppies https://www.theguardian.com/football/picture/2015/nov/10/david-squires-on-football-and-remembrance-day He'll probably do another one next week.

No wonder they're knackered if they've not signed anyone for over three years.
  4. Aye I won with another accy with Livingston on, cheers Paully. I remember winning on the first game but didn't know anything about the game being replayed.
  5. They're not even the same country. It's a trophy for the teams in the Scottish lower leagues but this year includes a few teams from Wales and Northern Ireland, which is where Crusaders are from.
  6. Presumably he's referring to this: https://www.theguardian.com/football/2013/oct/18/andros-townsend-roy-hodgson-monkey-joke-compliment
  7. That Littlejohn clip is so funny.
  8. The list of lower league players picked to play for England in recent years is very small. There's been a fair few goalkeepers have made squads but of the outfield players to have been picked, most got a couple of caps at most - Zaha, Nugent, Bothroyd. I think they're the last three, and before Nugent in 2007, you have to go back to Mackem Gray in 1999.
  9. Why? Plenty other players have played for England over the years while playing in the 2nd tier. Trevor Brooking and Steve Bull are 2 that come instantly to mind.
  10. His crowing about the referee today is proper Pardew, he reminds me of Ned Flanders describing the Bible and "the stuff that contradicts the other stuff". He really will say anything that he thinks makes him look better at that specific moment, and nobody ever ever ever pulls him on it. Going on about the penalty that Liverpool got last year and it being the same ref, this is what he said after that game: "I saw the referee, he wasn’t giving it. That touch doesn’t warrant the dive he makes – and it’s the dive that makes the linesman’s mind up." So a) it was mainly the striker's fault for diving, the striker who he since signed and had playing up front today, and b) it's then the linesman's fault because the referee wasn't going to give it, but he wanted the same referee withdrawn from the game today because of that.
  11. Bit of a stretch, but did he not mean in the Premier League? Presumably he's got it from somewhere, bit of a daft thing to say if he's making a point about waiting ages for a goal though.
  12. The Hull and Watford kits make it look like there's something wrong with my telly.
  13. What the hell's Lineker on about there, "Gaston Ramirez hasn't scored for nearly two years"? He only joined Boro in January and scored 7 in the Championship run in.
  14. How PFM's get the jobs but this guy gets overlooked is beyond me. Steve Bruce is doing well for Villa, but surely they should have been looking at Hughton? Pearson keeps getting mentioned for being experience in this division, yet Hughton brought us up when we were in turmoil, and did the same for Norwich but no-one is shouting his name. He didn't take Norwich up.
  15. He's currently on a run of 5 wins in 31 league games. Impressive.
