  1. surely he will have to start tho? We dont have lots of options. I reckon it will be quite a high scoring game, both have dodgy defences Totally agree... Better than Damage any day. Too soon for the others (Enrique and Capaca). No point throwing them in high octaine and probably one of the more physical games on the road when they are not fully fit. Madness. Sam will not do it, no way. One for the more established premiership players me thinks. We need to win this one and no reason why we wont. It is the one team Big Sam should definately beat!!!
  2. Geremi for me. He has come from a team that have won the premiership twice. You need a leader who knows how to win things - he certainly does. I would go for him as he is more likely to play more than Butt (given his versatility). Otherwise, it would be Butt for me. You need a winner.
  3. Anyone else think Martins will leave (as the guys on Century do)?
  4. Looks solid for a left back... at last Things really are looking up...
  5. Get in Smithy... We have some serious competition and fire power this season... If big sam can keep all the lads happy, we should score shiiiit loads of goals..
  6. fooook me, doing aka martins style ferkin flips. Got him or not, still been a brilliant week.
  7. All this sciene - mental ages to be honest. Sorry Shay.
  8. As long as this fanni is tight we should stop leaking at the back
  9. http://www.thisisbigbrother.com/forum/misc.php?action=search&page=3&srchuname=Invicta_Toon&filter_distinct= Jesus wept. Takes one to see one!!
  10. So could we arguably. Not suggesting we should or will - just wondering how much cash we actually see from the TV deals and how much is likely to be spent on the pitch.
  11. Listening to recent comments from Alex Ferguson about the amount of money now in the premiership, I was wondering just how much money that is? How is it split between the clubs? How will it impact us? He seems surprised that many clubs (especially Chelsea and Arsenal) have not spent big money. In the case of Chelsea I can understand this - they have spent a lot over the last few seasons. In the case of Arsenal, maybe the new ground is having an impact on spending. Looking at Liverpool, they are suddenly spending big money (although they have got a lot back). Wondering where this leaves us. How much of this TV money will get to big Sam? Whilst I would never advocate the board saying what we have to spend, I wonder how much of this money will be used for players or instead reducing the debts that Ashley (in addition to buying the club) has inherited. Looking a recent signings, and no significant money spent, I wonder which way it will go. Are all the recent rumours well founded or paper talk? With a highly wealthy man at the helm and all this new money, I wonder. I have never been convinced trophy signings will work (we know that more than most). That does not mean big money spent (Torres for example) is not money well spent. I like the moves we have made in the transfer market and think we are doing the right thing. Its only July and a lot can happen, but to even thinking about competing with the big 4 and the likes of Tottenham, I think the big money will need to come out soon. Will it happen?
  12. Firstly, I think the £50M is pure gestimation from the press. For a guy who has quietly built a very substantial business (and personal fortune) I would put money on the fact (now we are going private) that he DOES NOT WANT any of our transfer or internal discussions being made public (Fat Fred will have been to drop the "we always back our manager shi*e" and shut the F*** up). Look at Chelsea and the effect having a sugar dady had on the fee's they end up paying. Naturally, having Ashley in charge will probably have a simular effect. However, as I already said, I would be suprised if there are only a very small number of people who actually know what we have to spend - and rightly so. This club has effectively been run by the Fat one smack bang in the media for 10 years now - for all the wrong reasons. This is surely set to change. Back to the topic - our squad was ripped apart last year by injuries and proved how much we need a SQUAD (although with Sam in place I think we would have had half the problems). IMO, this has to come first and the big names/more experienced later. You need a squad to be successful, not 11 superstars. To keep star players, you need to be successful - you need a squad. First comes stability (it will take a while to bed in 6-8 new players) - they you bring in the more experienced (expensive players) when you have the fundermentals right. In Sam we have just the man. We still need 4 defenders for a start. He knows that. I am sure he will splash the cash on a CB, we have to. I think we also need height in the midfield. Up front, assuming no one leaves, we have nothing to worry about and IMO, on paper a strike force to match anyone in the league. Not going to speculate on who we should get, after all, I do not know what system the big fella is planning. Fook, right now just enjoying the fact that we should finally be a club again with things moving in the right direction again. I personally think SJP will be absolutely immense this year with new found belief. We just have to remember, Rome was not built in a day.
  13. less than 20 games in 2 years.. not sure what all the stress is about. Once all the ownership stuff is sorted out, we should be fine - and have cash to spend on better players than A f'ing smith.
  14. What happend to Dyer at RB - not that I really give a fooook.
  15. Waterstones do a great title I hear... Learning how to read (ironic really).
  16. Toooo many mid fielders there now, surely!?!?!
  17. you want another parker then ? Would rather have your avatar playing in the middle than sisoko.
  18. Are they taking bets for next season!? Got to be worth a punt.
  19. On the subject of Southgate - can anyone see Boro going down next year? I have a real feeling they will.
  20. Good news. Another over paid, under performer leaving. Not at all unhappy about this. The way things are going, I can see Butt being captain next year and a good one at that.
  21. Maybe I should have added this
  22. You do anyway - thats the old kit!!!!
  23. Its not all about goal - think you will find he had more assists and is genrally more effective at bringing others into play. Either way, not a big fan of his.
  24. As much as people wont want to believe it I reckon Moore (free transfer) and Bramble (been here for years) will have been on a fair whack! Moore was on £10k pw, not sure what Bramble was on but he came from the Championship and never signed a contract extension in his time here. Where did you hear that? I remember rumours of Moore being on £40k a week and I am sure Bramble has signed at least one improved contract since he joined. Even so the players we've got rid of except Parker are probably not amongst the highest earners - owen, dyer, luque, emre etc Looking at the premiership clubs wages, the top 5 are as follows: - PREMIER LEAGUE'S TOP WAGE BILLS 2005/06 Chelsea - £114m Manchester Utd - £85m Arsenal - £83m Liverpool - £69m Newcastle Utd - £52m Source: Deloitte Now the wages may have been helped a bit by those released, but it doesn't get away from the fact we've got a situation where we have a tiny squad but a massive wage bill. That £52M would have included Shearer as well. With him gone and a few others - this will come down. If we can get players on free's this is better that borrowing money for players. Even if it does push the wages up slightly. Having said all that - if Asley takes control - this will all go up in smoke and be irrelevant anyway.
