Southampton is a must win game.
-
Probably end up at Chelsea and have a blinder.
-
Really not far off a bruce and ashley free squad now if this happens. Lewis needs to go, which might prove hard, as does Hayden - but I have nothing against him. Just need shot of them both. Add to that Targett who really is surplus to requirements and we might actually get a little bit of money for him.

Dan Ashworth (no longer working for Manchester United)
Dan Gleebals replied to Rich's topic in Football
He is hardly going to leave here and talk about a job at Wolves, no chance. -
Why would you take your Mrs and Baby to a medical?!
-
His distribution looks great, and will compliment Schar nicely in that space! With Botman, Burn and him, that is three left sided CBs. Guess we will look for a right sided as well now Tosin has gone elsewhere. Decent backup keeper, class right winger and a younger development striker to play right side would be a very good summer.

Ah, thanks for clarifying. I thought it was the total of fee's and salary.

If the 4+1 means we can amorotize over 5 years for FFP, I guess that is why they have done that.

Yankuba Minteh (now playing for Brighton & Hove Albion)
Dan Gleebals replied to 54's topic in Football
I have no problems if we have to see him for FFP. However, if he is worth anywhere near £40M, or if anyone would pay that, I would be seriously shocked. We payed similar money for Gordon, and his background was far more compelling. So I cannot see anywhere near that fee being paid for Minteh. So, I would rather look to cash in on Murphy and Almiron (29 and 30 respectively) if at all possible, and keep this lad as a development player alongside a very good replacement for those 2. If we got £10M and £15M respectively, sure that would have a good impact on FFP as both players have been here for ever. -
We have consitently been saying since the new owners have arrived, that we will comply with FFP, so bar a total fuck up somewhere in the accounting process, I do not believe we will have gone over the limit. I am sure they based all the scenario's on worst case outcomes this season - at least you would hope they had. Forest only got 4 points for c.£30M over and we cannot be that bad. So if we have surely only a couple of points to worry about.
-
Mate who supports Liverpool saying the same thing. Fucking hope not. Last place on earth I would want him to end up.
-
I don't think we will do anything before the 30th of June (end of financial year), unless funds come in first, so we ensure FFP compliance.
-
When you consider how long it took the likes of Gordon to get up to speed, this time on the training ground could prove invaluable for him. He will know exactly what Howe expects of him from the off, and I am sure they will be working on exactly what that looks like through preseason. As someone else said, bring in a top right sided player, and our front 6 is pretty scary.
-
He got 25 in a very disrupted season as a team, albeit Gordon and Bruno played for almost all of it (our other two best players). Add in Tonali and Joelinton for the season, and an upgrade on Murphy/Almiron and I think his stats would have been on whole new level again. Very exciting to think what they can do next season, assuming no injury nightmares.
-
Those are the 3 I would cash in on. Keep Longstaff as backup (but not starter), unless someone offers good money for him as well.
-
Palace will only ever reach a certain point, and that may well be a very good league position (given the way the team are now playing) or a cup win. However, they will never, IMO, have the potential we have. This is a massive project and whilst he might have a lot of loyalty to Palace, which is completely understandable, he might well look at this project and think it is too big to turn down. He might to a Shearer and stick with his club, and I would respect that but lets see. From a recruitment perspective, he would clearly be a very good addition to the team.

Why did the wanker decide to finish the season strongly then. Made no odds to him, he could have given us that spot.
-
Really, to Howe out? Short memory perhaps. Yes, we had our issues, and agree to an extent, as I am not sure what plan B (if we have one) looks like. But for what he has achieved, it was never out for me. Brighton, West Ham, Chelsea, Manure (most likely) all looking for a new manager, and Liverpool have a new manager. Villa will struggle and Spurs are just spurs. As you say, stability is key now.

His injury record is terrible. He has missed 587 days injured in last 5 seasons. 117 days per year!. Our track record with players like this is not good either. No thanks. Free or not. Certainly not a priority.

Manchester United vs. Newcastle United: 15/5/24 @ 20:00 (Sky Sports)

Looking forward to this. Brighton form has also picked up a little, so hoping they get a win too. -
Surely they can just pay a sign on fee to keep the wages lower, and therefore make the player more affordable should you need to move them on. You take more of a hit in year1 but nothing compared to paying £35-40M. Put him on £70K a week and a £6M sign on. That totals c.£100K a week over 4 years.
-
Goal or 2 from him today, he will be buzzing.
-
We should have (hopefully) the demands of Europe but I completely agree with everything you say.. We need to add a couple more players of better quality and get rid of the dead wood this summer and I think next season could look pretty promising.

Dan Gleebals replied to Rich's topic in Football
No time to be worrying about other teams, and their fixtures/results. 6th is in our hands and no can change that, unless we screw it up. Massive week for us next week, and I trust Eddie the team to get this one over the line. Great to have some players back as well.
