The defence is being a cause for concern because due to the suspensions of Wliiamson and Colo, we have been unable to get a settled DC pairing and when Taylor and Campbell have come in, they've hardly set the world alight. Nolan misses for Spurs on Tuesday, due to picking up a 5th booking of the season. It's gonna be a season of results like this - all that matters though is getting to that 40points total asap. I'd also look to replace Jonas down the left because he offers us f**k all.

As I said I think it was more of era thing. 4 TV stations, net not widely, available so people thought instead of going to the social club to play 5 & 3s they would go to Roker Park instead. I wouldn't expect you to get it tbh. Go back a bit further in history & loads of fans used to watch both clubs. Something I cant understand but again different era. My dad used to do that when he was a kid. St James one week, Roker the next. Was common place back then.

I also suspect if there is any mileage in this and Ashley is trying to force him out, Barton won't stay quiet on it

Merlin - it's a shame that you cannot stay and contribute to here. You have much advice and experience to pass on to the younger fans who are still blinded by passion for the club. They should listen to you and perhaps then the same mistakes will not be repeated again and again in the future. I remember that weekend of the Coventry game (which I missed) as I was in Blackpool for the weekend with a Mag mate of mine and his mam and dad. Also remember it as the day/weekend that Jackie Milburn sadly passed away.

I remember the whole 'Supporters for Change' thing, back in 89/90. Think a couple of lads on here were involved - possibly Merlin and Ian W? Some stayed away from games, as the war between McKeag and Sir John Hall intensified. I was only 16/17 at the time and not mature enough to realize properly what was going on, as I still went to every home game. Now 20 years on, I know better. As for the clueless like Stu above.... *shakes head*
