  1. Another bit of geordie bashing from the media, it seems. There'll always be dickheads amongst our support, but they are in the extreme minority. Not fair to tar us with the same brush. True Faith reckon one of the mackem's messageboards might have something to do with it as well.
  2. Some Forest fans linking us with a move for James Perch on a 4 year deal for about a million. Anyone else heard anything?
  3. I'd take Gosling if there's any truth in that. Though it is Sky.......
  4. Don't think I'll be investing. It looks very cheap and even worse material than the adidas ones. I'll make do with my retro tops.
  5. Bloody Man United - was nailed on. At least we are at home on Boxing Day and last game of the season (makes a change!)
  6. Might be worth a listen to see if it's devoid of the usual stereotypical bullshit.
  7. Lovenkrands is fairly pacey, but he's also an intelligent footballer who works the channels well. He's certainly an option to have.
  8. To those who report to the stewards/club, etc - keep on doing it. Banning these folk from the grounds is the only way to get the message home that it's unacceptable behaviour.
  9. I remember (as a kid) the NF trying to peddle their filth outside of the Gallowgate End, during the early 80's. I too remember some of the baiting of the likes of Bobby Barnes and John Barnes though I was too young to understand what it was all about. St James wasn't alone in having those problems at the time and thankfully they were eradicated to hopefully never return.
  10. He'd be a good signing (an old fashioned poacher) but it's paramount that we would have to give him good service for him to be effective.
  11. It's a direct quote from someone else. Is he under any obligation to print an apology? I reckon he is because it's his piece. The Chelsea liar should also make an apology for what is tantamount to racist slander against all Newcastle fans.
  12. It's an awful piece and an apology should be the very least the paper can provide. A fine example of more lazy-arsed Newcastle bashing from hacks who should know better.
  13. Why did he do that anyway? It was something to do with a ruling that reserve games had to be played at St James at that time, and given the dodgyness of the pitch - KK didn't want the turf to be chewed up anymore than it already was.
  14. the good massivly outweighs the bad........but some say there was no bad. I've never denied that. Keegan is only human afterall but that doesn't mark him out for some of the comments that his tenure has received in this thread.
  15. So many WUM's in here re Keegan, it beggars belief if I'm honest - especially given all that he did for the club during his times as a player and a manager and the rotten way he was ultimately forced out of the club. He's the only man since 1927 to get us within a baw hair of the PL title, playing super football and putting a buzz back in the city. Sure he made mistakes (axing the reserve side was a biggie) but the good far outweighs the bad.
  16. Was having a good day until I read the statement! As .com have commented, it's bizarre but in keeping with how the club has been ran over the last few years. Transparency is mentioned, but it seems the club is battening down the hatches and gonna work with a closed shop mentality where we (the fans) will get to know nothing (what's new there!) and will have to rely on the spurious media reports. What's worrying is that the club isn't going to seem to spend any money in the summer so it's going to be a slog of a season with an inevitable relegation battle. So it begs the question - where is the s/t money going to go this summer, where is the TV/sponsorship money going to go? It'll be used to offset losses, but I also suspect that Ashley now wants to take back what he has loaned the club over the last year or so. Of course this is fair enough, but to risk it against a lack of investment in the side and another possible relegation (and becoming a yo-yo club) is just baffling. The statement is hardly going to encourage season ticket sales and I for one would be holding fire with my cash until later in the summer (to see what happens), had I been able to afford one. In many ways, this has put a real dampener on a good season and does it's best to remove any hope that fans had for next. Mr Ashley sure does like to play a dangerous game.
  17. every game was on last night OK - ta.
  18. No games on tonight, or were they all on yesterday? Doesn't appear to be any on Sky.
  19. Horrendous. I remember seeing it on TV at the time. RIP to those who lost their lives.
  20. I think their lack of being able to pull in crowds is the problem - same for Blyth really. Non-league teams in the NE are geographically isolated from the rest of the country, which brings rise to a couple of problems. The ability to attract better players and also greater costs when travelling to away games.
  21. It's fair game in this case and great player as he was - he's an absolute c**t of a man.
  22. Good result and we never had to get out of 2nd gear. Very much a case of job done and well done to the management (Hughton, etc) and the players. Also major respect to the 2000 who made the journey down and also to Plymouth for allowing the scenes at the end. Newcastle United - First Division Champions 2009-2010
  23. I'm just gonna say a simple.... Champions!
  24. I imagine the disabled tickets will be one of the first things to bite the dust on our return to the PL. I've taken one of the lads that I look after, a couple of times this season. He gets in cheap and I get in for nout as his carer. He's enjoyed the experience and was buzzing after the Forest game (the last one we went to) Next season will be a lot harder to get tickets for, so it may just be the cup games and possibly an away game or two. Will be interesting to see how many of those who stayed away this season, will now seek to return. A mate of mine has stayed away this season and refuses to return until Ashley has sold the club. He's making do with following the lads on the radio/Sky.
