The story continues looking for volunteers to hold up a flag... https://www.readytogo.net/smb/threads/east-standers.1598363/ This one has everything (apart from many volunteers). 14 posts in we've already got to "It's not a gay pride banner."

From nufc.com: Seems mental that.

Nah, I have a login to keep up with threads but it's far too toxic to post as a NUFC supporter over there.

The Saudi result against Argentina really has tipped some of them completely over the edge on RTG like. Under normal circumstances they'd be laughing at Argentina & Messi for the result against weaker opposition but they're having to double down on how all Newcastle supporters now support SA and everything they do. You expect the odd idiot in the NUFC thread over there to slip in a bit of casual islamophobia, and by now I realise that the mods will let it go even though they obviously read the thread as some of them post in it. But it's coming to something when it's reported and mods condone it and even chip in to deny it's racist because "you're not an arab so how can it be racist" or "it's ok because of SA's human rights record". https://www.readytogo.net/smb/threads/nufc-sportswashing-november-2022.1594225/post-37267329 'Camel humper' is just the language getting "a bit salty" apparently.

I don't go shopping much these days, but I've not seen any NUFC merchandise down here since early Ashley days. However there was a rack of these in Primark in amongst other random t-shirts (no other footy related stuff). No idea what it means, but found it bizarre for all sorts of reasons.

Kid's clothes & shoes are zero rated in the UK aren't they? Don't know about the rest of the EU, but this suggests not. Would think that's a significant percentage of sales.

No-one mention Hitzfeldgate

Oh, but wait... http://www.brandindex.com/ranking/uk/2018-index/category/high-street-retail Well done to Sports Direct for going from a rating of terrible to slightly less terrible. Still a lower "overall brand health" in 2018 than BHS which went out of business 2 years ago though, so not all good news.

Lock him up and throw away the key. Joking and laughing! The shame of it! How can a 22 year old child be expected to endure such vicious bullying? If he's not traumatised for life we should start the poor lad on Sunday so the away support, the Chelsea home crowd, commentators and journalists can show their support for him in an environment where players can be properly protected from any mocking comments, harsh words, or criticism of their ability.

absolutely shameless He strangled the club's finances for his own gain. Absolute short sighted nobber. To be fair, the full quote is

Not been watching, but I hope he doesn't win bake off tonight.

Think my favourites are: Hey Bob, you sound just like the type of bloke we need running the club. How do you fancy a job on the board?

So the club only made £18m profit, but the bank balance went up by £38m? That must mean Ashley is back to putting £20m a year into the club, right? Don't know why there's a boycoutt #ahkm #wait

Aye, probably. Best just close the forum down completely given we're all just offering an opinion. Yeah thats the same as you claiming to know whats going to happen. Such a shit strawman I don't claim to know anything. I've given my opinion, not aware that it has changed too much either? The club cautiously spending only what it earns, without Ashley skimming any profits, has always been my view. Not based on special knowledge, but based on the club saying that is what they will do and then doing it. What the club earns is always guesswork until the accounts come out. Now we have them in full and can see the cash in the bank, I'm not sure it's that much different from what ANYONE predicted before the club muddied the waters. In real terms, bypassing all the accounting tricks procedures, "what the club earned" is the bottom line of the cash flow statement: Increase/(decrease) in cash = £38.6m. That's less than most of us thought it would be due to the unexpectedly high wage bill, but it still means we had £34.1m in cash sat in the bank on the 30/6/14. This season we spent around £15m net (£29.8m spent detailed in the accounts, £15m estimated received for Debuchy & MYM) Cool. Much rather have the money in the bank than a capable manager and playing staff. What a time to be alive. Good point, I forgot about the £3m we got for Pardew. We spent around £12m net if you include him too. #wait

We've only done it twice under Ashley. Taking a leap of non-faith and assuming we wont this year either, that's only a payout every 4th year, so only 5% in the long run. Also helps that he can rig the deck by selling important players in January if we're looking in with a shout of a top half finish. #wait

Was just thinking, that to account for the increase, the wage bill must be significantly affected by performance related bonuses 10-11 - 12th - 53.6 11-12 - 5th - 64.1 12-13 - 16th - 61.7 13-14 - 10th - 78.3 So, even though we get less TV money for finishing lower in the table, we probably don't have to pay out as much either. So it really is no skin off Ashley's nose where we finish other than making him sweat a bit if we're near the relegation places.
-
I don't get that - we didn't buy anyone? If anything, our costs should have gone down? It includes a years worth of wages for Debuchy, MYM, Gouffran, Haidara & Sissoko rather than 5-6 months in the previous accounts, along with Remy for a year & Luuk de Jong for 5 months. However, considering the wages went DOWN in the previous year even with the 5-6 months of wages from the Jan 13 panic signings, it doesn't seem to add up at all just from the player wages - nearly a £300k per week increase. Ashley is now staff. He's a director, and director pay went down According to the accounts there were only 2 directors during the year- Charnley & Irving.
