  1. The pre match presser? Didn't come accross like that to me, was just saying FA should have another look at the runner up in the cup getting into Europe over a team thats done well over 38 games, but might have missed some of it tbf. That said, not Pardew, but it's not just once or twice where I've actually seen a manager surprised, or have to ask an interviewer where they or another team is in the table after a game. Seems just bizzare that they wouldn't pour over the table and varied ramifications like the rest of us, but maybe they really do just 'focus on their own game', sometimes. Bizarre.
  2. Then those people should take a long hard look at themselves as well.
  3. From a talk-in at Dunston last night. I don't believe for one second that Alan Pardew had any say whatsoever in the transfer. Whether or not you believe that is neither here nor there. Carroll did. And he chose them cunts.

About 4 actually, maybe 3 now as Deadmau seems to have died off, or at least gone back to where he came from after the weekend. FWIW I think Pardew should be given the freedom of the city for what he's done during the last 15 months or so. The main vocal detractors were HTT, Wullie, Mick, Tron, HawK, myself and a few others. Most weren't saying they wanted him out but that he needed to show signs that he could change the way we were playing as for three-four months we'd been progessively playing worse football. I don't think it's unreasonable that many were asking for changes to this and saying that if we didn't see improvements by Christmas then we'd have a case for looking for someone who could better utilise the players. WBA was a massive improvement and has renewed some of my faith in him. I think many were frustrated by the fact that what he was saying in the press didn't match up to what was happening on the pitch and felt short-sold. More of the WBA stuff and you won't find anyone complaining, HTT included Like you said there are a just hand full of Pardew detractors but a lot more, myself included, who have not enjoyed the visual spectacle of us nervously hanging on to narrow leads and stumbling across the line when we win. WBA was a great win and an excellent display in two contexts, a half of fast, accurate, attacking football and a half of watching a team made up largely of squad players fighting determinedly for the cause. Both very satisfying in different ways. However I don't think the WBA game, or any individual game for that matter, should have too much read into it, managers, football clubs and business in general needs to be judged over a longer term period, a minimum of one season for a manager I would say. In the context of what Pardew has done in the last 15 months and indeed this season so far, I think he has been excellent in all respects. Concerning the media, whereas some don't like his style, I see him an intelligent diplomat who has bridged the gap between the club's ownership and the fans admirably. Being Newcastle we'll get some disappointing performances along the way and we'll get a few epics too, but overall I'm pretty happy about where we are, cautiously optimistic about our future and deliriously happy when I think back to where we were just three years ago. Absolutely spot on.

  6. Come on, still time time to get two past the scouse mackems.
  7. "No cry-arsing and whinging on when a player made a mistake and just 100% backing for the team, manager and coaches. This is how it should be. This is a manager and squad that have more than deserved the backing from the terraces and I mean every single player." - TF

Some people were suggesting Pardew is not the kind of manager to play 3 up top away from home, keep the ball on the deck and play attractive football, and would only take us down the road of defensive 'hoofball', despite never suggesting the merits of it, and his often passionate admiration of teams that play good football. Is that not fair to say? Let's hope that this game eases their concerns a little.
  9. Or.. he tried every trick in the book to get HBA's recovery and integration into the team right, so that he'd come back as strong if not stronger from one hell of a lay off. Not knowing what goes on behind the scenes day in, day out, I'll stick with the latter. To seriously believe the line that Pardew just didn't rate him, had an agenda not to play him, or didn't know how big a player he could be for us is absolutely laughable.
  10. I know, found the uber-negativity ridiculous at the time as well. Just found your turn of phrase amusing.
  11. Agree with that. but still... f*** him! The negative cunts, aye.
  12. Try not to pin that on Pardew, OK? I'm sure Pardew knew we needed one. No look further than the Fat Controller and Mr Burns for this one. Roll the dice... ah f**k we got relegated. Two years on and roll it again and ah f**k we have no CB. Its not a game of craps you mongs. Who would you pick, Aidy 'Mapps' Mariappa or Perch on current form? Not fussed we lost out of that deal in the slightest. Perch is playing well but he is no CB. Him and Willo together scare the crap out of me, to be honest. After Collo, any combination with Willo scares me. Whether we brought someone like Mariappa in or not. Oh, and to anyone putting Bassongs name in the hat. Players available to loan do not go to clubs to sit on the bench just in case we get an injury like this, totally unrealistic.

Great to see it come together. Congrats Alan, hopefully puts a sock in some of the more ridiculous assumptions about your preferred style for a few days at least.

KK's coaching is more... fun and varied™?
  15. Under 18's and down don't either from what I've seen.
  16. Well, he's not injured... I spoke to Alan Smith last night prior to the game, he was sitting in the Club Gold Bar having a brew. The conversation went like this: Welldon : Hi Alan, good to have you at the club, why aren't you playing tonight, being rested ? Smiffy : Nah. Welldon : Oh right, so your injured ? Smiffy : Nah. Welldon : Oh ok, I was just asking as it said you were a doubt tonight on the OCS. Smiffy : Nah, I ain't been injured for ages. Welldon : Oh ok, thought you might have picked up a niggle at the Chesterfield game, that was some second half don't you think, you looked knackered at the end ? Smiffy : That was like a F**king kids game ! Welldon : Bye Alan. I think Luke Ashmeads job is safe for a while yet !!! Now in case anyone thinks he was pissed with me because i was talking to him, when I walked in he had a face like a smacked arse, he looked more than pissed off, now it says on the OCS he was injured....but not according to Smiffy. My guess is words were exchanged after the Chesterfield game.
  17. Llambias basically confirmed he wants offers for him in the summer recently. Would that be the interview where he said we were in a much better position now and if we made Europe to convince the likes of Tiote to stay? /Yes. Yes it was.
  18. Oddly enough Norwich go a goal down and switch to start pressing us a lot harder. No shit we're having difficulty knocking it around.
  19. FFS, you saw a cut away to Pardew when he rightly had a go at HBA. Who in the flying fuck are we to say he didn't have an even greater go at Williamson when the cameras wern't pointed at him?
