Harper is there (well he was on the plane at least).

Fuck off should a steep loan fee be a problem. If he's available (though that I doubt tbh), we should go all out to get him. Thing is, would the loan fee come off any future permanent fee (should we decide to keep him), or would it be separate? Separate I'd have thought in this case as I can't really see Chelsea thinking about selling him at the moment. It's not like we are even adverse to paying loan fees though, Ben Arfa's was £2m I believe, and I don't imagine Sturridges would be significantly more.

Charity match against Barca, nailed on.

I'm pretty sure I predicted we'd run a tight ship under Ashley and stop spending beyond our means when he first arrived, while on the plus side, any profit would go back into the club. Seems I was right! Do I get a lollipop? No.

Be good to see Sammy and Kadar etc get a shot, but it's not like our first team squad is particularly small.

Can't be arsed to get into the debate - given it's been done to death on here, but I'm interested in watching an entertaining, achieving team on a Saturday and throughout the season and not really arsed about debt (Ashley's own making) and whether we've got the biggest bore-hole in the North East (which should have been paid for out of the clubs many other revenue streams), we've got some of the biggest arse-holes in the North East but Derek Llambias, Pardew etc are a different story. I'd honestly not be surprised if we see a team play better football and maybe be even more entertaining than last seasons, which would in my eyes make them the most entertaining team since Asley took over. Actually, scratch that..... it would make them the most entertaining team since Bobby got the bullet.

I concur. I do not. No decent replacement will come if Jose is here, and I have difficulty having faith in a first teamer who will be openly talking to other clubs in six months.

"The mood of the Geordies". Oh fuck, that's a cracker.

But the actual point is that we apparently always try and keep our persuit of players under the press radar as much as we can. Maybe we are unsuccessful in this more often than not, but nevertheless, to say that having run out of transfer links reported in the papers is a major worry is a nonsense imho.

He did. Whelan I'm sure was delighted to puff up his chest and say he had turned us down, but then it would also suit us to say, look we offered £12m, we tried our best. But we didn't say that, we denied it iirc. Pardew did say (thinking back it could have been on the radio) we tried to get players in at the last moment, but part of his answer was that there never was anything beyond an enquiry as to availibility in the case of N'Zogbia.

Yeah. It's not like we bid £10m for him in the Jan transfer window to give people the idea we were interested in him like. Beats me where people get these ideas from. So what's your criticism there, that we bid for him? I thought you were annoyed because we didn't? If we were willing to pay £12m in January then why not pay £10m now? Well I guess people are angry for allowing themselves to be sucked in again and believing the club were actually serious about spending money on new top quality players. Maybe some are starting to think the £12m offer was just another stunt by the fkn idiots at this club, more cloak & dagger bullshit. FFS Skirge man, how is the £12m offer a stunt when we denied ever putting a bid in for him!?!?! What is the difference between a "feeler" and a bid like? Doing a ring round of clubs for prices of players we could pull in quickly I would say might be a 'feeler'. An actual bid would be, well, an actual bid.

Pretty sure it was fairly soon after the trasnfer window ended. Quotes from Pards. /Will have a rummage if I get a minute.

So what's your criticism there, that we bid for him? I thought you were annoyed because we didn't? All pretty speculative anyway, considering the club actually said that we hadn't bid, just were putting feeleers out at that late stage to a number of players who could move quickly, including the Zog.

Gonna try and see it now, didn't work this morning damnit, but someone mentioned that it's working now. That'd be me. Silky skills from Abeid in the vid. Promising.

I'd have though that it'd finally clicked that nothing came from the club that we were ever even that strongly in for the bloke? But no, people are actually still complaining that the club has strung their fantasies of N'Zogbia along.

Works now.
