West Ham agree fee in region of £15m with Liverpool for Andy Carroll
BottledDog replied to Pilko's topic in Football
Oh FFS! -
I doubt we had any desire to 'leave it to the last day'. Other than the fact Pardew said we were leaving it up to the last minute because we can force a better deal right before the deadline. Worked out well so far.. I don't know whats more stupid, telling the world what we are doing and why or actually doing it? He said no such thing. Iirc he has though pointed out that it was difficult to get things done sooner (as we and he would prefer) as clubs hold out for the best deals possible.

If Carroll wants to go and we pocket £35m for players in the summer then logically that's sensible. Absolutely gutting though if it happens. Really would be increadibly disappointing. /Every fucking time things are on the up...... -

While Pards sneaks out the back with an Andy sized bulge under his coat. £35m is a fooking ridiculous amount of money, but in this case it shouldn't matter. I know we are newly promoted, and every player at every club has his price, but it could really damage the team togetherness if we sold our talisman. Hold your nerve Ashley son. /Pretty please. -

You make a fine and valid point. Ozzie was factually incorrect. Still, the sentiment is reasonable. Considering the likes of Learner and the Boro fella charge interest on their mahosive loans which is something he has yet to have done, that sum is a pitance in comparison to be fair. He will take decent money out at some point, which he has every right to do, but has shown admirable restraint in that regard so far. Actually scratch that (sorry Ozzie). Cheers Greg, so it was just reducing the loan? Can't see any issue with that really. Oh, and another thing, am I right in thinking that he hasn't even drawn out any salary from the club either? -

Aye, renowned for letting our players leave on the cheap the Fat Cunt is. -
I, on the other hand, find it hilarious. This. He had every chance of becoming a legend at the club and then fucked us over rather than helping us get past the finishing line of a tough and ultimately disaterous season. Fuck him. Harper, Krul, Ole, and Foster are who deserve respect and support now, not Given. The idea of bringing him back, pushing them back down the pecking order as has be put forward on here, is quite frankly an abhorrent suggestion.

Yup. Indistinguishable.

Xisco joins Deportivo on loan until the end of the season
BottledDog replied to LoveItIfWeBeatU's topic in Football
/I think what Pardew has come out with re Xisco is spot on btw, especially saying that sometimes the club have to look at their own atitude as well. With a lack of any offers the slate needs to be wiped clean again. Really good to see from a manager. -
#nufc close to confirming another signing has just checked in at Jesmond /You know who, so don't get too excited.

Things like Keegan walking after the PLC debarcle just seem so far away now and games whether attended (or not like Marseille) are usually quick enough to get over. So that said, I can't think of any single game or event that tops the joyless slide and slow creeping resignation that came with the appointments of Souness, then Roeder and then Allardyce under Shepherd. Souness in particular with the rows I had with people over his appointment and handling of Bellamy and Robert just left a really lingering bitter taste. Really couldn't stand him, or anyone defending him.

Loved his keep schtum persona as a manager, but now that weve moved on, watching his interviews is like watching paint dry.

So do I, but we obviously won't. We just need to hope for more Tiote/Ben Arfa type bargain buys, that will be our approach I'm sure. Ben Afra must be around 7m including the loan fee, but yeah, hopefully he will be a bargain. I think if we can find a good deal on any player (even if that means over 10m), as long as it is seems good value, I think we would find the money to do it. The economic climate may have changed to a degree but the thing that warms m'cockles is that Ashley was willing to spend over 10m on a quality defender (not your usual kind of wow signing) and that for me is now paying off handsomely. I have faith that we'd do the same again.

Thought he had one of his best games for us against spurs.
