Take what hughton says here with a pinch of salt, the training probably wasn't a disaster but if you think the players are uneffected by KK's departure, then I'm sorry but you are living in cloud cuckoo land. I am not argueing that they have no been affected (of course they will have been), but we have no way of knowing to what extent and based on interviews today it seems that they are doing their best to move forward. half decent team isn't good enough. Keegan broke the record transfer fee for the club for a defender when he bought Darren Peacock, in fact. He also did it again when he bought Warren Barton. Gullit paid big money to buy Marcelino and Goma when the club needed defenders. Then they did it again when they bought Woodgate. Didn't stop them buying strikers and forwards as well. But continue defending the fat b****** for all that your'e worth and ignoring these facts. Why did we sell Woodgate then if it wasn't a good deal? Or Les Ferdinand for that matter? Quite, why would they. They'd have to be extremely wary that there's every chance they would end up just as crucified as Ashley for an investment that is never going to make you much money, so if not for fun, is all about brand recognition or prestige. Massive gamble as far as this club is concerned.

Guessing it's more likely that Big TRon thinks he is a promising coach already in posession of a good knowledge of the English game at all levels, who would fit into the current structure of the club well without any further upheaval. IMO the time to expriment with a coach like Zico is when everything else is in place and that certainly isn't the case with us. Fener are a wildly rich club quoted on the Turkish stock market with a value approaching 2 billion dollars or summink. And the have made the step up to solid CL performaces recently under Zico...Might just be the wrong time to hire him is all I'm saying. So when is the right time? Bilic doesn't want the job.
