  1. With the structure that has been put in place which the club are now claiming has been the case since Keegan was hired, what has happened with Keegan was totally inevitable sooner or later to anyone with even the most vague knowledge of the man. With what we are being told now, how can you say that it was a good appointment except from a financial point of view for Ashley (getting supporters to buy advance STs on the back of his appointment)? At best it was an incompetent appointment for the system to work, at worst a cynical one. no chance then, that as it was his first ever managerial appointment that he thought he might be able to get it all to work then? ashley i mean UV as always the forums split again into two camps - why couldn't it be that keegan was appointed with the best of intentions and things just didn't work out? to he was an incompetent appointment amazes me seeing as he virtually saved us from relegation, to read it as cynical says more about your preconceptions of the man to me Are you arguing that it wasn't obvious that Keegan was always likely to walk if he was not in charge of transfers (so not incompetence), or that getting a legendary manager in for 8 months to "virtually save us from relegation" and act as nothing more than a media facing figurehead during the off season while pretending to be in charge and asking supporters to sign up for 3 years in advance was not a cynical use of the man? In what possible way under the circumstances was Keegan a good appointment except in the short term for Ashley's bank balance? i don't even know where to start picking holes in this really as you've glossed over everything i said (as per) and asked a serious of questions that don't follow on from the last ones, but i'll start with this for a bit of balance: "act as nothing more than a media facing figurehead during the off season while pretending to be in charge" keegan was totally powerless here was he? what did they do, kidnap his dog and tell him he had to go in front of the cameras and tell them everything was fine...i'll guess that didn't happen so why do you think keegan said and did what he did? i'm guessing it was because over the course of the close season relationships broke down and culminated in the last day see what i'm getting at here? you're acting as if YOU KNOW that from minute of them bringing KK back he was imasculated by dennis wise and that was the plan all along are you really naive enough to believe that? next: "asking supporters to sign up for 3 years in advance" they asked, they didn't demand and from my recollection it wasn't a direct advertising campaign based on KK was it? it was a "cynical" means for the people with the cash to save themselves some money over the three years, and yes the club benefitted just as they did from the bond scheme and the platinum club and all the other shit of that ilk along the way - don't act like it's something fucking new just 'cause ashley did it lastly: "In what possible way under the circumstances was Keegan a good appointment except in the short term" how about saving us from relegation? irrelevant to you apparently...restoring some pride in fucking club after souness, roeder & allardyce - it's that refound 'pride' and 'fight' if you will that is seeing demonstrations at the ground and so on and so forth...we didn't see it when allardyce left did we? no because he was contributing to the demise of the club, keegan has redressed that balance this is for a lot of people, not just you; STOP ACTING LIKE SPOILT FUCKING BAIRNS WHO'VE BEEN UPSET BY BIG BAD MIKE, HE'S NOT THE DEVIL INCARNATE FOR CHRISTS SAKE...HE'S ASSERTED HIS AUTHORITY ON THE CLUB HE OWNS AT THE EXPENSE OF AN EMPLOYEE, ALBEIT ONE WE ALL LOVE to conclude getting keegan back when half the world thought it was a bad move, including me, and taking such a chance was a cynical moneymaking scheme is either childish or downright idiotic - the guy could have bombed and took us down...it was a gamble that paid off on the pitch but didn't work off it, that is all
  2. Still have a good deal of faith in him and still don't think there were many prospective owners out there that could have could have done better in putting the things in place for the club to move forward in the long term. It has been a horrible week, but I don't see the need for such ferocious attacks based ultimately on very little knowledge as to what has actually happened. I was pleasantly surprised at the type of players brought in, and, considering Keegans ridiculous 50 million spend at Man City and his supposed summer list, was not massively upset by the system in place. It seemed pretty reasonable to have the intention to build success slowly within our means and hopefully secure the clubs future. Just wish they hadn't pushed it. After niggling away wanting shot of Barton, Smith, Shola and Owen against his wishes, they then appear to have ballsed up royally by bringing in a player he didn't want. Beyond stupid considering how spirited Keegan is (something I love him for), and he had every right to resign. Personally, I think Ashley will be bloody hurting that something he took on has turned to shit because he fucked up on basically one thing; allowing his staff to push Keegan too far, which led to the inevitable walk out.
  3. Christ on a bike, a cracking interview with Ashley about the future, not a bad summer of transfers (despite missing out on our top targets), looking forward to the season. Keegan walks out rightly or wrongly (again), and people are acting like it's the end of the world, that the board are the great Satan ripping the club apart out of some purely malicious pleasure. Seriously? Come on. So a working relationship broke down. They tried to resolve it and failed, happens all the fucking time. Running around like witchfinder generals calling for blood and mass action to damage those in charge and ultimately the club we love is an idiotic form of flagellation that helps nobody and harms all of us in the end. Having a go at the box office, asking for greater clarity, and chanting Keegans name until the next manager comes in. Count me in. All the rest of this pitchfork wielding nonsense. Count me out.
  4. Reffering to this - http://www.thespoiler.co.uk/index.php/2008/09/02/unhappy-newcastle-star-shows-passion-for-quad-bikes
  5. really? Apparently so. Who says? Danh1
  6. I'm surprised the number of people who believed that rumour in the first place. it's hardly a rumour when your owner comes out and says it Will this 'not a rumour' be coming with a side serving of quotes?
  7. 1 goal for them. One goal for us.
  8. Oh, really..... cool as ice man, cool as ice shitting bricks about the rest of the team like!! I have no confidence about any of it anymore, just pained hope. Fingers? Everything I have is crossed. I'm all up in knots here.
  9. A serbian jew double bluff!?! Why that would be genius! Well played indeed.
  10. http://www.bbc.co.uk/cult/classic/titles/whydontyou.shtml ....fuck sake clip too short, never find out what they get up to on Holy Island.
  11. You dont need a registration with the premier league to play in a friendly? That would seem to be the case... "...and, while Gutiérrez is free to play in friendlies, Newcastle have yet to receive the registration papers from Mallorca that will enable him to play in the Premier League..." Not that I would entertain giving her words much weight mind.
  12. Would also like to know. Still not seen it confirmed, although he's played our last 2 home games which makes me wonder? From 'who might these keys belong to' Louise, ...Then there is Jonás Gutiérrez, an Argentinian winger who upset his former employers, Real Mallorca, by buying out his contract to join Newcastle. The La Liga club are appealing to Fifa for extra compensation and, while Gutiérrez is free to play in friendlies, Newcastle have yet to receive the registration papers from Mallorca that will enable him to play in the Premier League... http://www.newcastle-online.com/nufcforum/index.php?topic=53940.1175
  13. Christ on a flipping bike..... ARRRRGGGGG! What a bunch of shit stirring bastards.
  14. We'll see. Nothing confirmed as yet.
  15. Nope, pretty sure it's safe not to tar everyone with the same brush.
  16. To be honest, I reckon he'd only be gutted about losing Owen, and even then, as long as he can bring his own men in he'll be fine. The board need to back him though, be it through contacts or new signings. I'm sure they will do though, as they've now spoken about contracts for all of these three I don't understand why they are talking about it and doing nothing though ? Are they playing games with the players or something ? Just get them signed up if Keegan wants them, show them good faith, and behave like a progressive club by doing so ffs Signing Michael Owen asap on a new contract will speak volumes in football circles and tempt other players they target See, the only problem I have with them at the moment is they're talking a bit more than I'd want. I'd rather hear nothing coming from the club until things are sorted. Who's to say they're not already sorting these contracts out now premiership status is secure? thats about the size of it. I agree. What are they mouthing off for ? Just get on with it and tell us when its done. The only motivation they have in talking about it and all these silly digs, is basically points scoring ie "appeasing" Stupid tbh Oh fer ferks sake. Silly digs? They are reasuring people that contract situations regarding a number of our players will be addressed now our top flight status is assured. Whether they manage to strike a deal suitable for all parties who knows, but glad to hear that they're on to it. Glad to be "appeased". sorry Jon. Its the players they should be talking to, not the press. Perhaps you can tell us what, if you think Morts comments, which are the subject of this thread, are all about then ? Who do you think he's talking about, and if you agree with him, please tell us who and why ? Who is this player that has "appeased" us,that he thinks isn't what the club should be doing, and he knows better ? He must have had somebody in mind or he wouldn't have said it. Don't you agree ? I'd be more likely to agree if I knew what you were on about. What comments are you reffering to, all I saw from Mort in this thread were - “Steven Taylor is a young and very promising defender. “We would like him to stay at the club long term. “We will sit down with Steven and his father and hopefully work something out.” Seem pretty straight forward and an odd thing to wrap one of your conspiracy theories around. That said, I'm all ears.
