We've never brought in "the Shevchenko's (sic), Robinho's (sic) or the Berbatov's (sic)". We've had players like Robert, Bellamy and Solano, all far better players than anyone brought in under the Ashley regime. They are not saying we have, nor should we expect such players in the near future which clearly needed to be said the way some were going on. I think we are trying to bring in players certainly a par with Robert, Bellamy and Solano if not better (even in terms of the transfer fees paid) as well as investing in youth more than the previous lot. And it's pretty telling that those are the biggest successes in recent years, two of which were got shot of for far less than they were worth. I think the current team have already managed a better hit rate with the likes of Jonas and Bassong being the standouts and even the likes of Guthrie and Collo in one transfer window. I was dissapointed with the winter transfer period, but not with the players signed or lost really. Just hoped for one or two more. Stop losing players on the cheap, keep building the squad up with exciting youth and a smattering of experience and internationals until we are in a possition to atract the top players again and I'll be happy. But what does worry me is that such sustained progress can only be made with a manager the players, board, and supporters can have confidence in, and Kinnear frankly scares me shitless.

And look at the date:14/09/2008. That's after he'd shown his true colours. <-- that quote epitomises "the transfer system" that keegan apparently agreed with to come back a year ago. im still waiting for you or somebody else to show where he's said we'll spend our way up the league btw. No, that would have been this (contradicting one).. "The caliber of player we want to bring in is someone with a lot of Premiership experience or Champions League experience and they are in short supply. We are at a stage where we don't want to just bring players in to add to the squad, we want players who are going to be in the first team." Chris Mort 02/08/2007 The one you refer to is from after Keegan left. But where is the contradiction? What they don't want to do is just bring in squad players or young players like Bassong, Taylor, Guthrie, Ranger etc.. but get players in that can go into the first team ala Collo, Jonas, Nolan, who have Premiership or top European experience etc, but that it's difficult. What is not at least understandable about that? How does that go against them saying that we cannot sustain bringing in the Shevchenko's, Robinho's or the Berbatov's, but will build up slowly.

I don't think I can see any quotes from Ashley there that are are that heinous or even particularly unreasonable in context. Things change, Kinnear drops a bollock or two, but lies and propaganda? Meh, I think you are crediting the club with a little too much intelligence and showing very little yourself trying to whip up outrage with some cherry picked (and at best tenuously connected) lines there Mr Happy Face.

Nah, the only volleys of exasperation with our own where I was were directed purely towards Shola and Butt.

I'm within seat hoiking distance of Llambias if it goes tits up, but it won't. We are going to fuck 'em. Today will be a happy day.

See, that's how you handle getting players you don't want.

Unlike Gary speed with Nolan, he said he wouldn't advise anyone to come to Newcastle. Ungrateful cockney twat. /I keed, I keed. Top fella, great times.

Damn straight. I would be surprised if the would let Sturridge leave, but who knows, that may we be what the ongoing wrangling is all about. -

I must be super cynical as i pointed this out a few days ago, until ashley recovers his £100 mi he cant sell I'm confused. So how's he going to recover his £100 million, then? Easy. Every season he sells our best players and buys some inferior ones with the money this generates. The unspent cash goes into his pocket. This season for example we look like funding the £10m purchase of Xisco, Nolan and Taylor by selling Milner, Given and N’Zogbia for about £25m. A possible profit of £15 million on transfers would only cover just over half the clubs yearly losses (based on the last lot of accounts), while reducing the pot of future players who would bring in a profit if they are so inferior. Easy my arse. While not taking a penny, he would still need to subsidise the club. Sounds a great money spinning idea. -
Really excellent interview on NUFC TV, would have no problem with him taking a penalty. Chuffed for the lad.

It's not that often that all parties can agree on a deal straight off. The player and both clubs (tho not Megson by the looks of it ) were all happy pretty much from the off on this one by the look of it. For every Nolan there are loads of Ebondas, and Spears.

Pretty much confirms that this is in response to the Barton injury. I don't know whether that's a good thing or not. Well I cannot see how anyone could say it's a bad thing. At worst it takes away funds from other long term targets, but the club needed to react and they have.

A delighted Nolan told nufcTV: "It's all happened so quickly but it was an opportunity which was impossible to turn down. "I can't wait to play in front of these fans every week and I'm really looking forward to the next four-and-a-half years."

Heard its fulham Fuck me, that's already on Wikipedia. Ah, well. "Giles Gordon Barnes (born 5 August 1988 in Barking, England) is an English football midfielder currently playing for Fulham on loan from Derby County." "On the 30th of January Barnes joined Fulham on loan on with a view to a permanent 2 million transfer."

why ? Hardly professional, this sort of thing shouldn't even come out in the press. A top managers comment would have been I'll speak with the player tomorrow in training. Alex Ferguson would have said that then you never would have seen the player again. I know things are bad at the minute and the club is silent so any comment seems good but the fact is this has been one of our problems in the past, doing everything through the press. Should be kept out of the press totally. I don't agree, He had been accussed of insulting a player, and however ridiculous, I think it was absolutely right for JK to come out and qiuckly dismiss the Zogs faux outrage it as the nonsense that it was. souness-eque...compound the original perceived insult by making a new one in response to a question about the original one!! Thats basically what my worry is with JK I normally cannot stand his constant jabbering, but when a player say's he is so insulted that he will never play again over something so innocuous, there needs to be a quick response.
