He's a big miss. When I think about what kind of player we could do with in our defence now he springs straight to mind. A defence of Beye, Faye, Bassong and Enrique would be rock solid. Still be exposed by the fucking awful midfield mind.

I blame Souness for wripping every bit of potential and spirit and talent away from a good Premiership squad when he took over. Well he was the start of this mess. Surely they will have. The media don't know the full details of player contracts. I'm sure Nolan will be on over £30,000 a week and Taylor will probably be getting around that sort of money so no way would we have signed them without a wage drop clause when we knew we were in a relegation fight.

I'd love to know how many players (if any) have a clause in their contract reducing their wages if we go down. I would imagine anyone who has signed a new contract this season has. So that would be Harper, R.Taylor, Butt, Nolan, Ameobi, Carroll. Anyone else?

We cant break though. That tactic depends on us being able to defend. Its not even about that really, its about having a midfield that can keep hold of the ball playing patiently, and picking out a killer pass when they see an opening. We don't have that, so we either have to play 10 men behind the ball and defend, or we have to play everything up to Viduka and hope that he can do some magic or create an opening for Martins.
