Agreed. Mainly cos he's s*** though. Honestly... it's the likes of him and Downing - their allegedly quality players - for why they're down there. Boro's main problem this season has been scoring goals and whilst they've hardly got the deadliest of strikeforces, they've got some reasonable strikers there. Downing has done nowt this season and Tuncay is as wasteful as it gets. As i've said before, i haven't watched masses of them this season, but i've genuinely not seen Tuncay have a good game. He's got touches of quality and whatnot but we can't be relying on 1-good-game-in-10 players. We've got enough of them already. They'd cost a bomb n'all. Highly doubt we'll go for them regardless. Digard's the only player i would even go near to approaching at Boro. Maybe Wheater. Digard for £2m bargain. As for tuncay I think its harsh to critique him. Boro really have a lack of creativity and as Craig Burley says. "Yee cud play Torhes up there but if you've not got the creahativetee then its pointless." Isn't it Tuncay's job to be more of a creative player than a goal machine?
-
I can't see much point in going for Wheater like. He will cost quite a bit and while he has potential he is not the quality cool headed defender we need to partner Bassong. I'd rather just have Taylor as backup right back and centre back and look for the finished article to put in the team. We could actually do with 2 centre backs really if we are to ship out Colloccini, Cacapa and Edgar but if we're gonna pay a decent fee for a defender to go into the team then we're probably gonna be looking at cheap option as backup.
-
Think Hangeland, Pennant and Bent have already been mentioned. Would anyone take Matt Derbyshire for a decent fee? He would he a good squad player imo. He's a good finisher and he's a good age. Definitely would be a decent signing as a sub striker, taking into account that we really could do with 2 new strikers and we've got so many areas to cover for improvement. D.Bent, Martins, Viduka (pay as you play only or let him go), Derbyshire, Carroll, Lovenkrands We could do worse.
-
If we are safe on the last day of the season (big IF) and he's fit we should start him imo. If theres nothing to lose then why not. We've seen enough of most of the wasters at our club and we know who isnt up to it from the regulars. Start him with Viduka and i'm sure he'll get a chance or two.

From there point of view why would they risk any player they feel will play a part of the Champions League final. Unless something is said to them by the league then I can see a massively weakened team. I don't think they would even risk most of the players who won't be stating in the the final if they can get away with it. Certainly not the likes of Anderson, Nani or Tevez. The biggest names on their teamsheet will be Foster, O'Shea and Fletcher imo. Possibly Neville and Fabio. The rest will be made up with the likes of Gibson, Welbeck, Macheda and a few debuts imo.

Newcastle v Fulham | Sat 16th May - St James' Park @3pm

If we can get the 3 points then that will mean we are unbeaten in 3 home matches, something we haven't done since last year. If we can become a solid team at home next season then we will have half a chance of some stability. -

If we had "loads of money" then we would be talking about replacing every player in the team except Beye and Bassong if we were going to be perfect. Never gonna happen. Even with a good budget we aren't going to be a great team. Its going to take time.
-
there's never been a team in the history of football was relegated because of the keeper harper might not be given but lets not get carried away here, behind a coherent defence harper will be fine for the time being we have much, much bigger priorities man Agreed. Harper would be more than fine in a good solid team. Thats what we have to aim for next season if we stay up.
-
Johnson can't even get in the Boro team.
-
He's definitely worth another season. He needs to do a lot of work over the summer like. He should be out there every day for extra sessions on his crossing and shooting, and there would be no better man to show him how its done than Shearer.
-
There will definitely be a few teams after Downing so even though Boro are going to be buggered financially, they will be able to hold out for quite a decent fee for him. He will cost more than he's worth. A lot more.
-
None of them would really be value for money. There might be one or two players their who would be handy but for the price their clubs would demand I wouldn't really touch them.
-
The question if we stay up is will Mike Ashley stick to his guns after we've had such a massive scare and buy cheaper younger players, or will he see that we need good investment as relegation would cost us a lot more than spending big to improve the squad to make it strong.

Michael Owen - Would you be disappointed if he stayed?
Leazes1986 replied to Liam Liam Liam O's topic in Football
Whens the last time Owen commented on his future though? He clarely doesn't want to talk about it. The boot has firmly changed around now though. Before a lot of people would have loved him to stay, now a lot of people are looking at his contribution on the pitch and would rather he would leave for nowt he's playing that bad. -
It will be absolute madness if we do not sign a centre back, a big strong central midfielder, an attacking central midfielder, a right winger and a striker just ot go into the line up. Its a big huge job which needs done. For some reason I think if Shearer stays then we will see a lot of early summer signings. I really can't see him messing around like previous managers.

Did anyone read the online chat thingy yesterday on the Chronicle website with Lee Ryder? He said that all requests to interview Owen are being rejected via his agent. -
I will be fucking fuming if aren't safe on the last day of the season and this happens (although it's understandable). I tell you what though, if we win on Saturday and Hull and Sunderland get beat at the weekend then i'll be all for Man U putting their reserves out with us safe and the mackems playing Chelsea

This is not good for fucking health today. Im going out in a couple of hours like, reckon about 8 pints should do it. I can't bring myself to do anything but sit here waitint for any sort of news etc. I can't even bring myself to have a shave and shower We need an early goal. If we can get one the place will be buzzing. We should go at them from the start and look to take in a 2 goal lead at half time if possible. -
If our players were as productive at their job as Noel Gallagher is at his then we would have plenty to celebrate. He's just being a fucking cunt tbh Don't see what the fuss is though, we would say the same sort of thing about the likes of Spurs if they were down there.

Where you seen that? What a lot of shit -
That would be my sort of plan if i was playing on FM. I bet Nicky Butt is on more money than Beye yet he says we should sell Beye as his contract is up in 2010 yet keep Butt even though his contract will be up then as well.
