  1. Ings would be a great signing but I can't see us going there. We 100% need another striker who can hold the ball up, because without Mitrovic we really struggle with that. The only way I could see Ings playing for us is if he played out wide (and out of position) in a 4-2-3-1 or an unlikely 4-3-3. I was thinking of a wide player who would be good for us and I haven't seen Jason Puncheon mentioned. Probably because its unlikely mind, and I don't know his situation at Palace. Him and Ritchie would be perfect out wide imo.
  2. Article on Hart by Carragher. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3749475/Joe-Hart-12-months-prepare-Pep-Guardiola-don-t-feel-sorry-him.html Does he see something different in Sels to our other keepers? Interesting snippet anyway.
  3. The interview is no longer free. Can anyone paste it on here please?
  4. If we get Hanley in (or someone else) I'd say we might be okay at CB. That's assuming Jesus, Hayden and Dummett can all cover there as well.
  5.  The last few pages are brilliant.
  6. Discounting how shit he has been for us apart from a handful of games, Colback and Shelvey would comfortably be a very good partnership in that league. Grant Leadbitter has just been promoted with Boro. Shelvey would comfortably get double figures in assists and possibly goals imo. We have to let anyone leave who doesn't want to be here though. A lot of the players in the 09/10 promotion team have constantly repeated how important it was to get the unhappy players out of the dressing room. -------------------------Any of our GK's-------------------- Anita------------Mbema*--------------Lascelles----------Dummett New---------------Shelvey----------------Colback------------New ----------------Armstrong?-----------Mitrovic*--------------- *If they will stay It's a bit of a gamble with Armstrong. We would preferably bring in a goalscorer, but Armstrong could be a big player for us if he can step up a level. I would like some experience in there, especially in the defence, but if Anita and Lascelles keep up their form, and nobody bids for Mbemba, you would want them in the team.

It's so fucking clear what had happened.

    Steven Taylor

Should be interesting that on Saturday actually

    Steven Taylor

The worst thing we could do is keep him, no matter what deal he is on. He takes up a squad place, and if he stays then the board will just see it as one less position that needs strengthened. If Taylor leaves in the summer then he will have to be replaced. He is just not reliable enough.

    Jose Enrique

There's absolutely no harm in taking him on loan like. What's the worst that can happen? If he looks shite then we've lost nowt. On the other side of the coin, if he started to look anything like his own self with a fresh start then it is worth it.
  11. Townsend is far better than Phillips like. Phillips is decent enough.
  12. Maybe they see Townsend as his replacement then and feel they need to sign him now. Not the same type of player of course, but we'll not find anyone like Sissoko anyway.
  13. I think the signing of Townsend would be a clear indication that Sissoko is away in the summer
  14. We won't pay the premium for British players who are in top form though. Not only that, but while we're in this position in this window, the only ones we are likely to attract are out of favour players or players who are unhappy and are at clubs around us. We're not a very attractive proposition at the moment. I think most teams in the bottom half of the table would certainly like to have signed Shelvey and Townsend though if possible.
  15. He probably fancies his chances for the Euro's if he plays every week because Hodgson does seem to like him. At least he should be motivated to play well.
  16. It will surely be a loan with a view to permanent though. Probably hoping to pay for him with money we might get back on Thauvin in the summer.

    Sunderland

The Ayew approach sounds so ridiculous, it makes me wonder if they've had some sort of indication that he might be available for transfer for some absolutely ridiculous reason. Surely not though. Apart from the fact that 75% of the league would be interested, it would put a nail in Swansea's coffin.

Noel's just announced some UK gigs for April. No Newcastle though. Think I'll make the effort with Super Furry Animals supporting Glasgow, The SSE Hydro (April 21) Aberdeen, AECC (April 24) Liverpool, Echo Arena (April 25) Leeds, First Direct Arena (April 27) Birmingham, Genting Arena (April 29) Bournemouth, BIC (April 30)
  19. I wonder how far you would have to go back (Alan Pardew aside), where another Premiership manager would have actually signed him? We persisted with him, then when he leaves he gets found out everywhere he goes.
  20. I have never heard a pundit/ex player say a negative thing about Colback. They all sing his praises when his name is mentioned. It is a strange one. Especially for such a top midfielder like Rob Lee. He was everything you could want in centre midfield, Colback is about 700 mile behind them standards.
  21. I still remember my reaction, and everyone else around me as well when that Everton goal went in. The look on people's faces was priceless.
  22. There doesn't seem like much middle ground with Colback from our fans to me. There's the ones who think he's great and should be one of the first names on the teamsheet, then there's the ones who think he's complete shite. I think he's decent enough, he just shouldn't be in our first choice team. If he had of came through our ranks rather than from Sunderland after all of the shite that went on, he probably wouldn't get the flak he does.
  23. http://www.skysports.com/football/news/15115/9973676/anthony-martial-to-manchester-united-what-you-need-to-know Can he be compared to anyone? Martial had the chance to work with former United striker Radamel Falcao during their time together at Monaco and also regarded Newcastle striker Emmanuel Riviere as a player to look up to at the club. "I try to learn from Falcao, and Manu Riviere as well - his movement is excellent - it's really good for me," Martial told BeIN Sport. "I need to work on my movement and my finishing, but seeing these guys on a regular basis gives me a benchmark."
