Allan Saint-Maximin (now playing for Fenerbahce, on loan from Al-Ahli)

Has to switch almiron over to that side. Hopefully we do better with ASMs rehab than Gayle and Ritchie. -
It is definitely Riviere all over again. Except we didn't gamble on the cheap. Ashley must be furious.

Did think we would win it after we scored. Momentum had turned, even when Southampton came back well with guns blazing. The double injuries killed our momentum though and I thought a draw was best case scenario. Fair play we still have the fight to the finish mentality. Consistency. Win, lose or draw, still the 2nd best team on the pitch. 3 point closer to grubby guts raking in more premier league money.

Gone to pieces now.

This is why Schar should be playing. He can pass from defence, Shelvey shouldn’t then feel the need to play so deep to retrieve the ball. Schar's passing ability would mean we don't need to carry Shelvey and use a midfielder who is more mobile. That would give us more balance. Someone that is more mobile and switched on. He is such a liability at times. Complete reflection of they type of player that matches our clubs standing. Potential game changer that changes a game once every five games and is absolutely missing or gash the rest. We simply have to do better than Shelvey because he doesn't have it in him to be consistent.

To be fair to Steve Bruce, win lose or draw we are without doubt consistently the worst team on the pitch. All about the consistency. It's no surprise Almiron struggles coming from the MLS. He is used to a better quality of football than this. Completely brainless head tennis and punts when in possession is certainly an MLS trait circa 2010 though. With Joelinton, I like to think we spent 15m more on Riviere because thats essentially what we have so far. He is clearly missing a layer of confidence to impose himself physically but unfortunately, like Riviere I don't know even with confidence he has the ability there. Maybe we can turn up in the second half. Few players in a black and white shirt with a brain or focus in that first half.

We are so atrocious in possession. Another day half the team doesn't turn up mentally from the start of the game.

Newcastle United 1-1 Wolverhampton Wanderers - post match from page 14

Awful second half. Not that Rafa didnt but it was back to the pardew era of nick a goal and soak up pressure and defend. Anti football. Just playing the same way we played would have kept them at bay. The equalizer was inevitable. Unfortunate for Sean longstaff. He will be missed but has to learn from that. -

Amen. If wolves continue to let them grow into the game and dictate I think we will see that hopefully. -

Longstaffs really grew into the game and were starting to run the show. Crazy bit of composure from matty on the edge of his box at one point. ASM is absolutely the real deal. The Almiron conundrum continues but he also grew into the half. Joelinton is worse but has nothing to feed off. We miss something more direct through the center. Defence has played well and we generally do with Fernandez. Complete no nonsense and criminally underused. -
34 years since Canada last beat the States. Many will say the US performance was garbage. It was, but Canada were immense and outplayed the US in every department, it could have been 4 or 5. Huge win considering how Canada and other Nations have been screwed by Fifa for WC qualifying. Those ranking points will be invaluable. The return leg in Orlando next month will be huge.

This aside he was MOTM today for me. Some incredible blocks and an influential figure for sure.

Some errant passes and inexperienced moments, which should be expected but on the whole a hell of a debut. The energy was needed and really Bruce at last roll of the dice played a blinder playing up to the fans today with the team selection. It paid off. Potentially such a great pairing with his brother. Very different players that compliment each other. Hopefully both can continue to grow and cement those places in the middle.

It was as much as the dream line up fans would want and it worked out due to an absolutely dire Manure side. The potential is there with this team shame we don't have the coaching staff to realise it.
-
He needs protecting and his confidence boosting. If Carroll can stay fit it will help. Predictably Joelinton will be on the bench soon but that is not necessarily a negative. There is really nothing that comes through the middle to help him. He doesn't look capable of being the game changer we need up front and the team isn't confident or playing well enough to help him out. We have seen he has the tools but is as predicted not the finished article.

Quick someone photoshop Bruce's mug in the centre of a poppy with the words "we will remember him" underneath. That tweet is fucking hilarious on mackem levels. On the upside with Bruce, he generally always does well in his first season at clubs. So with that already out of the way and down the pan, we can all look forward to the next level.

Manquillo being the best RB at the club is criminal but then playing the 3rd best is even better.

Reminded me of: "You can see just how deflated he was"... once he remembered he wasnt still teammates with Perez stopped joking around and put on his serious face. Saying players need to be accountable and pick themselves up but not blaming himself as captain or the coaching staff for one of their main duties.
