Bigger kick in the nuts to see Barton leaving for me, although neither exits are a surprise. IF (and its a big one right now) we replace them both with the calibre of player we have been linked with (Barnetta, M'Bengue) I think we will be just fine. Make no mistake though, there are no excuses to be sitting here in 4 weeks time without replacements, we have had long enough to plan for this.

Mail say £10m. Mirror say £5m. I'd say it'll be around £7m. 7m with add-ons would be reasonable. Think its fair of us to point to N'Zogbia. Figures are a moot point tbh, it will end up being undisclosed and people will argue about it depending on their agenda over the next few months and whenever he plays against us. Would be happy with that, if the 6m includes add ons. Wouldn't want Insua first choice though so we would still need to get another LB.

Aye, he's buying new football boots for everyone. he wasn't lying it's just the 35m covers 1 transfer for every window over the next 15 years. It's in the fine print.

Wenger and Ashley are a match made in heaven. Neither will touch a penny despite how much is available to spend.
-
Yeah, we have a month to buy players. We also have a month to sell players. Which is more likely? Tough call, no bugger in their right mind is going to try and sign Smith, Perch, Xisco or Ranger.
-
Oh. Really? Unless we get some positive news over the next two weeks eg: Signings etc.. I could see us getting whipped by Arsenal and morale plummeting to further depths, we have all seen how things snowball from there. Supporters and players need a huge boost to stop any slump coming before we even start.

5. Could go either way. Either we stay up or we go down.

Eh, what about Kuyt? This is true. 1 May 2006 KUYT CAN FLY HIGH FOR TOON GERMANY 2006 GROUP C: ARGENTINA, HOLLAND, IVORY COAST, SERBIA & MONTENEGRO HOLLAND Previous tournaments: 7 Best: Runners-up (1974, 1978) By Bill Mills THE price tag on his head is huge: £10million is Feyenoord's asking price for top scorer Dirk Kuyt. But the powerful Dutch striker is desperate to play in the Premiership after the World Cup finals and relishes the opportunity to succeed Alan Shearer at Newcastle. In fact, Kuyt wants to use the stage in Germany to clinch his dream transfer after both Tottenham and Arsenal decided to turn to other strikers. Arsene Wenger flew to Holland two months ago to see Kuyt in action. The player had been in bed all week with flu and still had a temperature, and Wenger was not impressed with his performance. But Kuyt's decision to go and play despite his illness summed up his character and attitude. "He's the hardest-working striker I have got,'' says Dutch coach Marco van Basten. Kuyt is not the most elegant striker, which is probably why Europe's biggest clubs have not dared to splash a fortune on him. "But he is worth every penny," says Van Basten. "He scores goals at any level, against any opposition, and he's the most fantastic person in a squad. He is the ideal captain at his club." In his last 140 league matches, Kuyt has scored 96 goals - roughly two in every three matches. Which explains why he was top scorer in the Netherlands for two successive seasons. Kuyt has also just been named Dutch player of the year. Spurs boss Martin Jol is a big fan, but decided to go for Bulgarian international Dimitar Berbatov instead. That leaves the door open for Toon, which is where Kuyt would love to fill the vacancy Shearer is leaving behind. Kuyt resembles everything Shearer was as a player. He is a family man who only wants to play for a working-class team and scores goals more regularly than anybody else. Even his football style is similar to Shearer. Strong in the air, he can hold the ball up well and is forever motivating his team-mates. Kuyt says: "I would love to play in the North-East. When I was young I loved Italian football. But only because Van Basten, Rijkaard and Gullit were playing for AC Milan. "Now I'd rather play in England. I love English football. I also think my style of play is completely right for the Premiership. "A club like Newcastle would be my dream."

At least we have those other foreign based players we are looking at. The players that were never identified or mysteriously never mentioned again that is.

I constantly slag off my bosses on Twitter, Facebook, work forums and in emails to them. I also go on strike when my terms aren't improved year on year. It's the other way round really, no employer can expect to receive universal praise from all their employees, but they should cater to the most talented people in their employment. depends what type of work you are in a suppose but you are surely in breach of contact and spreading slander if you are recoding things in public places. Saying things in private or directly to your boss is one thing but when it harms the business they have grounds to cut ties.
-
Been heading this way for a while. Club has wanted him out for a while so I am not suprised that they didn't just fine him first for his twitter rants, although they surely should have done. Barton on the other hand is and continues to be a complete bellend who knew exactly where his comments would lead him. His grasping at straws playing the fans and drawing the sympathy card is poor. The is no excuse for his hyperbole, everyone saw it coming. no professional can expect to slag their bosses off in a huge public space without consequence. As for mckay he is worse than Ashley and co. If the set pieces tantrum is true he has not only made his client look like an even bigger child and idiot bit possibly put other clubs off.

joking aside macheda has looked class when I have seen him in pre season. Decent future in the game IMO.

Always liked Guthrie, think he gets alot of unearned shit on here sometimes. No Nolans gone its time to pick on Guthrie for being overweight, slow and unfit. Showed a ton of potential in our promotion season, maybe doesnt have enough to nail down a starting spot in a top 6 team but he has time and is adequete back up. At 24 I can see him wanting out to get regular football though. Gosling's pre-season is a big plus so far, likewise Abeid and Vuckic. Would still like another DM to cover tiote but we are pretty chocked in the middle, with alot of talent still young and developing.
-
Sounds good, result means nothing. If anything might be a kick up the ass for some of the players, all about fitness right now. Can't believe some of the reactions here. Comedy gold. Pre-season is always back and forth. If we look this s*** and out of shape come the Fiorentina game maybe we should be more concerned. Good to hear about Tavernier, Abeid and Vuckic. might need them this year. How was Gosling? Take it you didn't actually read them, then. Some of them.
-
More than likely tbh Depends on the deal imo. I think we will spend more if the deal and player is "right".
-
Wouldn't say so. We were looking at two more attacking players with a striker being priority. The second player was dependant on the striker coming in. If reports are true I can't see any of our alternative options costing any less. Price should free us up or at least give us an idea what we have to bargain with for the second player. With N'Zog it still comes down to getting the right deal imo, although Marveaux should give us a similar option to team.

Nice bargaining if true. Pennies saved can go towards N'Zog Seriously though, I would expect there is an outside possibility of us going back for N'Zog if we do get Erding for that price, cant see us getting a better deal for any other strikers of his apparent skill level. Long would have been more and we know Gameiro and Gervinho would have also both been alot more.
-
Signing with the Chiefs tbh. Part of the deal was a suprise cross codes friendly this week before we go home.
-
Didnt he have a knock or the club didnt think he was fit enough? He was making noises about being fit because of the Hungary tournament he played in.

Should quell any immediate fears.. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/14260398.stm

He looked alright for the first few games of the 2009/2010 season, before he got injured again. That was mainly because he was closer to his level in the championship. He has never been much more than a liability for us other than that unfortunately. Good comparison to a aged Nicky Butt, both should have been put down much earlier. Cruel seeing them in so much pain.
