Prefer Best to Lovelpants and Stroller but I am not in the slightest bit bothered if we get rid (PROVIDED WE GET A REPLACEMENT), especially at 4m. Can see a richer championship club or even a lower premiership side paying 3m for him plus some future payments. Even 3m is a decent price considering we got him for next to nowt.

In all likelyhood we are bringing in at least two strikers. (Ba and Erding) Wouldn't suprise me to see someone else brought in too if we can shift Best, Xisco will surely be paid off and Ranger is apparently done too. Ameobi, Ba, Erding and Lovenkrands wont be enough, although I realise Pardew has already mentioned Ben Arfa will be basically playing upfront too.

Wont be holding my breath on Matiudi and Barnetta. Would be fucking mint though.

Without being too harsh, this. I see where your coming from, but most of that is tosh. The transfer window hasn't even opened yet. 1. We have sold off our most important players. Colo, Tiote, Ben Arfa class above anyone we have got rid of, Enrique, Barton and Jonas are also all still here. 2. We cannot seem to shift unwanted players who are running down their contracts. I thought that was essentially what happened with Nolan, Smith is on his way out and Campbell is gone. 3. We are finding it difficult to attract quality replacements like Cabaye? We can talk about this when the window shuts, thats after it opens. Considering we are not in Europe getting the likes of Cabaye and BenArfa to give up champions league to come here doesn't make me panic. 4. Management seems to be intent on buying bargain basement out of contract players, release clauses etc etc etc. Value for money yes, we aren't loaded, like it or not football is a business now and we are like a local business up against national chains in terms of resources. I don't have a problem with spending wisely or how we have spent money. I am in the minority but I like how shrewd we are in terms of this, we could spunk 30m on someone sure but it certainly didnt work out well in the past. If we can afford to spend that amount and the player is right for us I believe we would. We are more geared towards up and coming players though and have been since Ashley came on board, thats not something new. 5. We have sold our leader. who will replace him. Time will tell, Harper? maybe Colo or Tiote will step up or Cabaye will take on the mantel, maybe we will bring someone new in. One man doesn't make a team. We should have been looking to replace Nolan anyway. I have confidence that we will 6. The club's reputation is terrible. Flat out disagree. We are in a totally different state to two years ago, in France especially. Of course that can change overnight with our hierachy. Agree like Sifu with the communication, Pardew has been particularly silent today. Four years and they still don't get it when it comes to communication with fans. When a simple statement could clear things up they let things fester so fans reach crisis point in chicken licken-esq fashion.

Must say I am shocked, but if we want to go places we have to be ruthless. Its a favorite pastime on this board to slate Nolan for his overall contribution in games but now he is going everyone is upset. I probably would have liked him to stick around another couple of years, he is a great personality to have at the club and a good finisher. His overall play and age are big factors though. We need to find a suitable replacement though no doubts. I think the fact he is moving to another championship club rather than a top half premiership club tells is own story. Certainly not the end of the world and very reminiscent of the first Keegan era and offloading Paul Bracewell.

Better than tickets to blood brothers Ashley offered Barton a choice, a new contract or the mystery box... http://27.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_l9sadcpIvP1qdy1k6o1_500.jpg

Why the hating? Always liked and rated Faye. Silly getting rid tbh.

Would love to see us bring Matuidi in, Optimistics Nut's formation is tasty. However assuming the first three Pardew is talking about bringing in is Naylor, Ba and Erdinc and we are looking at just two more then I cant see it being another CM/DM. Surely the last two will be a winger (N'Zog hopefully) then a 4th CB (to replace Campbell) unless the club actually rates Kadar or Tavernier, the latter will surely act as wingback cover.
-
No reason at all. He'll choose us over them, and they have to sell before they buy, reportedly. Really, so they dont have any of the 40m plus that the club pocketed for Bent and Henderson?
-
With Gervinho out the way I really hope we bring the lad back, seems truly gutted he left. Think he is Mackem bound though.
-
If Cabaye is alright with him, I am. As most on here I prefer N'Zogbia though. Get both tbh.
-
Replacing Barton already then.. hehe you said willie.
-
Can't believe how cheap Sporting Lisbon got him for 5.4m Euros, we were talking 8m quid last summer. Bargain.
-
All depends who buy, he looked decent, but no better than Ferguson or Ameobi jnr jnr. Loan would be the smart option and see how he does. Not too upset if we get the 1.2m for him thats being talked about though. Thought Pardew had said he rated him earlier in the season.

We're s*** and it's bloody painful to watch. Maybe its more the fact that the yanks have drastically improved, but last CONCAF the two teams were pretty even. Granted Julian De Guzman is missing but it will take a hell of alot more to get things going for the team Canada. Really need to get Jonathon De Guzman and David Hoilett to commit, would be a huge lift for the Canadian game, De Rosario is on his way out. On the upside Atiba Hutchinson is playing well, Simpson looks canny at times and Jackson has glimpses of okayishness! Rest is utter gash though unfortunately.
-
Canada are completely woeful, they have actually become worse in the four years I have been living here. Why the hell they haven't done everything to get Jonathon De Guzman back and the Hoiletts playing I don't know. On a side note De Rosario also has to be one of the most overrated players I have seen, yes he is probably more talented than most of the Canadian squad but his flashes of brilliance are too few and far inbetween his arrogance and lazieness.
-
Have to be looking at 4.5m upwards to make a profit. He has been massive off the pitch and on it scoring goals, would like to see him stay another couple of years, likewise with Barton but if we can get decent money now and replace them with better players I wont mind. Playing with fire disrupting the squad spirit, as the suspiciously quiet of late Joey Barton said. .com's comparison to flogging Rob Lee is a bit far fetched, Rob Lee was three times the player on the pitch and a much better servant off it imo.

On the Nigel point I guess that the c*nt de Jong is the daddy - but for the most part I agree it's hard to argue that it's a great football name. Nigel Winterburn, Nigel Worthington, Nigel Quashie..Nigel from Eastenders? Struggling after that point though... not bad considering the Nigel per capita in the world.
-
Woodgate, Owen and Smith.. no wait a minute.
-
Can't see this one happening. Other than the fact Pardew ruled us out of being interested a month ago we are more likely to sign someone younger like Victor Wanyama or Axel Witsel who would be come with a much larger upside, on cheaper wages and be happier to wait his chance in the squad. I dont think he would be the worst squad player, given pardew knows him quite well and his has a few years left in him. Dont see it happening though unless all other avenues are exhausted.
-
What happend to Sylvain Marveaux?
-
Happy with this signing, cost relatively nowt can score goals if we can keep him fit, knee is a scary issue but its a low risk signing with a bigger upside imo. I highly doubt he will be our alternative to Gameiro, maybe our alternative to Gervinho though. We are supposed to be looking at two strikers, bring in the Zog and another Striker and we will be looking tasty.
-
Clearly we are the only team in for him, he is just desperate for Arsenal or someone else to up there interest and make a firm bid. Like a kid crying for attention saying he will jump if they dont stop him, its his last attempt at forcing what he perceives as bigger clubs to bid for him, or he will join Newcastle. Can see him staying put at Lille tbh.

http://www.givemefootball.com/premier-league/newcastle-make-bid-for-la-liga-midfielder---report Horrible source, but maybe Tiote was talking about Romaric not Gervinho joining!
