Was a Legend yesterday. Loved the two slow-mo replays they showed of him. First one after his first save he was clenching both FISTS and shouting "Come on!" Second one Saylor comes up to him and nuts him, whilst screaming at him, then pulls his hair after another blinding save. Will be hard to sit back on the bench, we will have to see if Harper is fit enough for next week, good to know we have such a great deputy.

SSN: David O'Leary 'no longer in contention' for NUFC job
toontownman replied to Dave's topic in Football
Fuming. Wouldnt blame O'Dreary, like Kinnear id be jumping on the chance if it was offered, especially when no-one else has offered them a job in 3 years, despite their best efforts. Absolute joke though. Shearer should have been interim until a buyer was found. Unless like someone said, it was a cheap party trick putting the club on the market, when Ashley actually had no intention to sell. -
Latest tripe from the Daily Mail. I will cling on to it given the latest O'Leary rumours! http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1205225/Geordie-hero-Shearer-boss-Newcastle-days.html Geordie hero Shearer back as boss of Newcastle 'within days' By Rob Draper Last updated at 5:53 PM on 09th August 2009 * Comments (1) * Add to My Stories Waiting in the wings: Former boss Shearer Waiting in the wings: Former boss Shearer Alan Shearer could return as Newcastle manager as early as next week — but only if owner Mike Ashley is willing to accept a £70million offer for the club from Geordie businessman Barry Moat. As Newcastle came from behind to draw 1-1 with West Bromwich yesterday on the opening day of the Championship season, Ashley, whose name was repeatedly abused by travelling fans, was flying in from Hawaii to finalise negotiations, with Keith Harris — who is conducting the potential sale — confident the deal can be completed within days. Newcastle dropped Joey Barton to the bench after reports of an altercation with temporary manager Chris Hughton and Moat is keen to get Shearer, who was at The Hawthorns yesterday as a BBC analyst, before the transfer window closes, so the club can buy players better suited to a promotion campaign. Shearer said: ‘If someone comes in and buys the football club and wants me as manager and everything is right, and they want to get the club back up to the Premier League, then I would dearly love the chance to finish what I started last season. Other than that, you have to believe me when I say I don’t know anything.’ The decision will depend on Ashley’s attitude when he meets Seymour Pierce chairman Harris this week, who will present him the terms of Moat’s bid for the club. But Ashley wants at least £90m and may yet decided to stay at the club for another year. Shearer added: ‘I am still here, still in limbo. I don’t know any more than anyone else. But I want it sorted either way because of the love of the football club.’ Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1205225/Geordie-hero-Shearer-boss-Newcastle-days.html#ixzz0Nht8OgDs

Surely Michael Owens Helicopter was available.

Agreed. We need someone reasonably prolific at this level because as things stand all we've got is blind hope that Carroll and Ameobi are going to be good enough. I dont think we can cope without another experienced CB aswell. Colo might well be off in the next couple of weeks, then there is sod all cover. Which is pretty much as dire as up front. Should Carroll and Shola be out and god forbid Ranger injured where do we go from there?
-
He was on loan at Norwich last year and scored once or twice? Past it even for this level now I think.
-
Probably after Jonas departs next week. With Hughton in charge I can see Raylor keeping Lua Lua out of the side too. Yep, will be a much better bet there than Ryan Taylor. Though with Geremi at full back, R.Taylor will be playing right wing I bet.

Ashley should be forced to read it every night in its entirety tbh.
-
na na naa naa..... tears before bedtime tbh.

Shame the papers as fragile as most of the players. Jonas and colo will be either off or uninterested. Duff, Taylor, Barton, Smith, Butt and Nolan will be suspended or injured the majority of the rest will just be shit. We dont have players to cope with the injuries we will pick up, this league is brutal.

Agree with this, although not convinced by Pamarot. Suprised Volz is without a club, maybe his injuries took a bigger toll on his career than people think. Jaidi is very underrated. Would do as decent a job as campbell imo at half the price.

WBA v Newcastle United - Pre match thread. 5:30 KO, Live on BBC1/BBC HD

Oddly hyped up about this, never thought that could be possible given the summer we have had. Its not a case of whether we have the quality, but much like the past 2/3 seasons its more about having the lack of passion, interest and quality. We need everyone back on top of their games. -
Can see him filling in at Right Back.
-
Happy he is going to villa. Dissapointing we couldnt keep hold of him at this stage of his career, but yet again we move on. God only knows whats going to happen if we sell/loan colo and Enrique and then Taylor gets injured for any amount of time. Kadar and Tozer or Butt and Geremi in defence?

Im suprised we wouldnt put Smith up front if we have to play him. (as it appears we have to) We are short on strikers anyway. Are we definatley not playing Colo with Taylor? Harper R Taylo S Taylor Kadar/Colo Enrique Jonas Smith Barton Duff Nolan Carroll Looks likely IMO.
