  1. yep summer 2009 i thought.
  2. Its on the bbc. 6/7m . slovinian cb.
  3. Plus kevin nolan is in the bag. so thats the missing creativity element solved.
  4. only worth getting defoe if owen or martins leave. not a world beater but would plug the gaps for a while.
  5. Can see both arsenal and diarra snubbing us to be honest.
  6. Well thats our January spending done. Will be interesting to see how he gets on over the next couple of years.
  7. No service, barely match fit. He will come good. More bothered about what the useless buggers are doing behind him tbh.
  8. CREATIVITY! How long does it take to realise our midfield just doesnt work. Smith was vacant again today and Butt is a DM. We are going to miss Faye hugely.
  9. He has been rolling up the carpet and smoking it by the looks of things.
  10. the "style of play" hasnt suited him under Allardyce, Roeder or Souness. Brief flashes of his talent are the best we have been attributed since his arrival in Newcastle. Motivational issues/Injury/tactical problems either way equates to something having to give, either adapting his play to what the manager asks, motivating himself or leaving to start afresh. Somehow the latter normally seems to be the outcome. Given our complete lack of creativity, maybe its suprising Emre has been stuck on the bench. But he is yet to do anything when he has started or come on this season that makes him deserve to have a starting place for me.
  11. looks like a good punching bag for joey barton though.

£8m plus Carr and anyone else they happen to fancy. Not really the answer to our lacking pace but a great striker in the making, just have to question whether he is over his injury problems.
  13. Emre is a player capable of great things. Would be nice if he showed that was the case a little more often. Cant see him staying past the summer, but barring the miracle of us finding a top class replacement aswell as an equal top class midfielder to add to the squad this january, I cant see BS letting him go.
  14. Speed for me, huge mistake letting him go, might have still been part of the squad, not to mention coaching set up. He was the gel of the team on and certainly off the pitch, a model pro, driving force on the pitch, and whilst he was getting sloppy on the pitch our midfield since reflects his waining talents akin to pele. Id say a good majority of the list were missed and regrettable sales. Nobby was SBR's greatest mistake. A close runner up for me. Distin and Hamman obviously would have been great players to keep, but the choice wasnt the clubs, both players screwed us over. Cole was a shocker, I almost cried, but his sale was the catalyst for signing Ferdinand et al.. Ginola and Sir Les were measured decisions, although they did have another few seasons, we took the money whilst it was being offered. Bellamy we dont need a 100 page thread on, he put us in the postion of having to sell him. Shame we didnt sack Souness whilst he was on loan at Celtic, but the poison dwarf has himself to blame. To an extent likewise with Robert, Its clear to see we saw the best of him, his ego took control and he has failed pretty miserably since leaving us. Letting Pearce go, whilst doesnt have any votes at the moment was a poor decision, he still could have given us a decent season, and several more as cover. The downside is he might have ended up manager if he had stayed! The position still gives us trouble now. I was suprised at Big Sam not wanting to keep Parker in the squad, never the less im not too bothered he has gone. We couldnt have driven JDT out better with flaming torches and pitch forks. He did better with a clean break, staying on wasnt really an option unfortunatley. Acuna left on his own accord for family reasons, although was a tidy grafter. Jenarse, Dyer, asprilla, chopra, Ferguson had either run their course here or didnt merit keeping. Woodgate was great business although I was initially gutted.

    Martins

He has been getting worse and worse, much like the rest of the team. Hardly suprising given the changing roles he has had to come to terms with. He doesnt seem the smartest lad there is to begin with let alone switching him from RW to Lone Striker, then support stiker. His little brain is probably fried. Like too many of the squad, switches off to easily, being a confidence player doesnt help the cause the way things are at the moment either.
  16. straight into the starting line up for stoke? they think they have the mental advantage. we have mental in human form.
  17. cant see it happening, given their injury problems at the back, he has only just started playing well for them.
  18. Its the mackem scarf he could do with getting rid of.

Buying young and potential is great, but not if thats your sole priority, you need to be building on two fronts. 1-For now 2-The Future Too many teams go for number 2 without also adding the experience and players that can improve the present squad. Not enough of 1 brings too much pressure too soon on 2, and can potentially ruin the potential. The future talent being brought in also has to be heavily reliant on the fact the club has a set up that will. A) support them and B) Improve them as players/people So the policy has to include decent scouts, coaches and a set up they can thrive in. Im all for it, but we have got it wrong here before with Sir Bobby and so have many clubs, its the happy medium every club should be looking for, but doesnt always link together. Oh and there is surely a mistake in leaving Pattison off the list?
  20. Didnt sam say the other day that we have already got well underway with recruiting younger talents? Hope these three come off at least. Its important that we work this way, but we have to update the senior squad with experience at the same time.
  21. Barton will replace Barton. Im sure he will turn over a new leaf, new year and all.... Doubt we will cut our losses on him to be honest. Sure Sam wont want to give up on him so easy, but lets see what happens with this assault charge.
