Ferrari sounds like a good bet. We were linked in the summer aswell. Saviola is possible if we are thinking of putting him as an attacking Midfielder. Seems a strange one for upfront though, with Owen, Martins and potentially Lovenkrands all the pacy striker type. Wouldnt complain though. Still need a LB though. Ferrari, Meireles, saviola, lovenkrands and Riise/shorey would be decent enough, given the options this time of year.

Pre Match - Newcastle United vs Hull - Wed 14th Jan - 19.45pm

Given Edgar Colo Bassong N'Zog Geremi Guthrie Butt Jonas Duff Owen Is how I reckon we will line up. Would rather see this. Given Geremi Colo Bassong N'Zog Duff Guthrie Butt Jonas Xisco Owen And that was very painfull having to type Butts name in there. Wouldnt be opposed to switching Butt and Nzog and giving Kadar a run out though, has always looked the part in the reserves. -
Xisco joins Deportivo on loan until the end of the season

Surely got to start tmrw night? Carrol, Enrique and Taylor out. If he manages to jig the team round and Duff is partnering owen I might just lose it. -
N'Zogbia: Lyon interested according to agent
toontownman replied to TêteDeMaure's topic in Football
Shame to see him go, he could still be a fantastic player, but I dont want anyone at the club that doesnt want to be here and turn things around. He will be missed as much as Milner is. I do wish someone should muzzle him and his agent though, it embarrassing for everyone, and each time he makes these desperate pleas the clubs that actually do want him are going to bid lower for him. -
Looks like the club has paid Vital Football to big him up! http://www.newcastle.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=139019 IF he is up to it, deal from now to the end of the season is more than acceptable.

Rather have smith, thats only because ive almost forgotten how shit he is.

True, but a little over dramatic. Elano or Jo would come here in a shot imo. I think its more about our top brass wanting to steer clear of the players than them being out of our league. The reason Elano isnt going anywhere is because of his reputation of being a tantrum throwing trouble maker. Jo would seem a gamble for any club in the premier league. Whilst we are struggling and have kinnear as a manager we are still alot more attractive to players than you are putting it.

Kris Thackray... was with the youth teams but let go at 16, plays for Reggina now, although I think he is out on loan to a lower league team.

What happened to that Geordie that was playing in Italy?

Wow there is so much positivety in this thread i dare not spoil it... well ok, he isnt even rated by rangers fans, smacks of desperation alround. this place will implode when its announced he isnt good enough. the up point is we will probably sign him regardless

Build the reserve team around him?

The most irritating person in football at the moment.

cant stand him, rather have gone through what we have with keegan and kinnear than have had him in charge, close shave. -
Linked with a loan move for Jo from Man City. Could be a masterstroke or terrible decision. Not much to lose if its a loan though. As much as I wouldnt want to lose Given, Johnson and Onouha and a couple of million would be great comfort, infact might work better in the long run. Bresciano is getting on a bit, was a decent player though for CM. Raul Meireles is by far the most exciting, we were tipped to be signing a 10m midfielder.. surely not though... Know nothing about Tom De Mul, another right winger would be nice though, especially if geremi is off. Lovenkrands is a weird one, still dont know where he would fit in unless we are expecting Owen to be off this window.

Jose Enrique out for at least three weeks with hamstring injury
toontownman replied to a topic in Football
I just cant understand the logic with selling Enrique. We have not had a competitive pair of fullbacks since keegans first stint, on either side. So great we get Riise in and sell Enrique but we are in the same position as we are now except our new LB has no potential. As much as both Carr and Babayaro took the piss and were terrible at the best of times for us, a major part of that was contributed to the fact they had each position in the bag so it mattered little whether they played or not they would always be in the starting line up. Whilst you can polish a turd we would have seen different players in Baba and the troll if they had people pushing them for theyre places. When Enrique goes this window it will be another page in the Newcastle United book of ineptitude. Our club is pathetic and has been for years. -
Owen staying would be a bigger boost than Shay. As mentioned Harper would come in and do a decent job if Given departed. The impact would be bigger off the pitch imo, it would show (true or not) an indication of the ambition of the club which would not only impact the players at the club but any prospective signings for the summer. Owen is a much bigger pull for players and if he was to sign on again would be a huge boost the fans, players and anyone involved in the club. Whilst obviously Shay staying would be fantastic too the reaction would be far less monumental. The stone cold reality is both players will be gone come next pre-season, where that leaves us we will have to find out. Whomever is in charge of the team and the club by that point will have the biggest challenge of any manager to walk through the doors in the past 10 years.

Exactly where he prefers, I still wouldn't want him unless he has changed magnificently from when he was at Rangers Right wing? Good if true but I didnt think he had ever played there, certainly played alot for Rangers wide left. He calls himself an out and out striker though. http://sport.scotsman.com/rangersfc/Lovenkrands-makes-case-for-the.2742286.jp

West Ham agree fee in region of £15m with Liverpool for Andy Carroll
toontownman replied to Pilko's topic in Football
Just because he played well today and ok at Hull doesnt mean he isnt a tosser that thinks he has made it still. I wouldnt know either way though, just saying. -
Cant really see why we would need Lovenkrands though unless he can play on the right. He prefers playing up front, cant see him jumping ahead of Owen and Martins will be back soonish. He isnt as good as Duff, N'Zog or Jonas on the left, so bit of a strange one. Wish we would sign a bloody CM! A midfield dominator and leader is what we are missing, someone in the lampard, gerrard, Viera mould would have won us the game today. Might be worth gambling on M'Bami
