Scott Parker signs for West Ham - £6.5m (+£500k) fee confirmed
toontownman replied to Dokko's topic in Football
It will all be in hand.. I dont see him turning up at the first day of training then realising he didnt buy any defenders. It will piece together in time. I would doubt we are really interested, but Anelka would be an excellent signing, would possibly signal the end of Ameobi if we signed Viduka, but 5 would be a decent pool of players to pick from, especially if we want to compete on 3 fronts next season and given our luck with injuries. -

could cope with Anelka, Owen, Martins, Viduka and Shola as our striker pool. -

The moral obligations of a football club... is signing Joey Barton moral?
toontownman replied to a topic in Football
Barton is without doubt a talented footballer, unfortunately with alot of anger management issues. Like a few people have said, these people should be ostracised but helped. He isnt someone that goes out living in large, much like the bowyer we saw at Newcastle he is reasonably reclusive, likes going fishing rather than lording it up in clubs covered in bling. Im not excusing some of the things he has done, for instance players like dyer and bramble in the past were not violent whilst constantly getting bad press. Maybe the support given wasnt enough in the past for him, or the people advising him are also guilty. Whilst obviously wrong his crimes are more of passion than stupidity or ego driven, his openess of his problems and willingness to get help is a good sign. Its strange, ive sat and watched a sport where fighting is all but actively encouraged throughout the match all night. football players fight like girls to people over here. Had Barton, bowyer and alike been Ice Hockey players they would be the hunters rather than the hunted. -
seems a bit late in his career to be teaching him all the defensive responsibilities. Alot of older players revert to the back line, but they are usually ones with a decent footballing brain, ability to tackle or with discipline. Im not convinced Dyer has any of those attributes. He certainly wont be worse than carr though. Cant see him being better than Solano though. Interesting but doubtfull IMO.

so after all that Sven like whoring about to come back to England, runs straight to the first big club that comes calling. 5 minutes ago he was talking up Man city, 10 minutes ago he was talking about taking Leeds back into Europe. Mind you he would be a fool to turn Juve down.

yep, sod signing Karadeniz, get Emre talking to Tuncay and Tuncay talking to Appiah. Fenerbache will want alot of money for Appiah though, he hasnt been there that long and he has shined.

Got to trust the boss on this really. Ive liked him as a player for a few years now. Poor mans Gerrard but has potential. For the money we are paying for him and what we are getting for Parker, a no brainer for me. Better player than Reo Coker or Nolan, we could buy boetang and still have several million in our pockets. More similar to Bowyer than Bellamy IMO, more of a loner than someone to lord it up at quayside.

Going to be alot of players in and out at West Ham for the next few years by the looks of things. Going to be hard to get a settled team that will go places. Looks like they are improving the team in stages, but will always mean players coming and leaving. Not really that great for football in general if this is the way things are going to go.

talking of penalty saves and decent memories, one outshines most for me. Playing Spurs, conceeding a penalty and Mike Hooper saving from Jurgen Klinsman. First penalty he had missed since coming to the premiership. I rated Mike Hooper as one of the worst keepers we have had in the last 15 years, so its was as good as a goal, especially given Klinsmans prolific form. Klinsman sent Hooper diving the wrong way but he saved it with his legs. Cult hero just for that, although I guess an element of shitness always helps people to cult status, as much as talent does.

If only. Curious the friction that might be caused with Allardyce who has been very critical of Dein in the past. I think they would put aside those differences though, you would hope so at least, as both are visionairies that could take the club to great things.

the difference between Emre and Dyer/Parker is that that Emre can actually pass/create Emre was woefully inconsistent with passing this season. Im shocked you say that. Emre 24 games 3 goals, no assists Dyer 22 games 7 goals, 2 assists. Personally Id like to think and sense tells me Emre is the better player, but dyer has contributed more to the team, although that doesnt tell you the tackle Emre has put in and balls he has won. Your putting dyer hatred in overdrive IMO though. As for parker.. meh hehe Just backs up belief that Emre has loads of potential to come...and Dyer was played as a front man for many of the games...does help... I don't hate Dyer; but I think he has woefully under used his god given talents; and has failed to develop over the years, being more intent on bling than brain power. Dyer could have been a hero...his pace, engine and ability to run at people should have been burnt into our hearts..instead his exploits, his hummer, and year on year invisibility have been left to break our hearts.. Understand your statement about dyer. Dont understand your point. Dyer not using being the best he could be is bad, but emre not being the best he could be means he has potential? Seems a bit kettle, pot, noir beckoning to me

Id agree with the first statement. Although what we are being linked with is the start of what we are replacing. Im not convinced either that they are even much of an improvement on what we had, but its the basis of our new squad, there will be alot of action over the summer, especially should the takeover happen. The likes we are linked with now are additions to the squad rather than foundations to the team. If they are the latter, I share your concerns.

New viduka tbh....

Hard to call if the take over drags on. But should it go ahead and the figures predicted be given to big sam as a Gold Card, top six or there abouts should be a reasonable expectation. You have to bear in mind the other clubs that have been given huge financial backing, who will also be aiming for at least the same. Id hope for top six at least, but depeding on circumstance and structural developement of the club 8th downwards would be ok.. either way, we need to keep with Allardyce and give him a few seasons to impliment what he needs to.
-
You know the stiker he thats so impressive he cant remember? really though rob hulse has done well. but personally as much as Ameobi is berated, Id probably still prefer him over alot of the trendy tat being floated around at them moment. He does good enough as a back up striker for me.

I dont think anyone would be talking about paul scholes aged 38. He will do well with Manure for a couple of seasons, maybe good with a few other top sides with big squads if he can adjust. I think he will struggle away from Manure though much like Butt or the majority of other players that have left them. To be fair, why in the hell would he want to leave them?
-
Would rather take Nolan , Barton or even Reo-coker. If Scholes leaves Manure it will only be a downward step, he has a few seasons left in him, fine, but like Butt he will have the "Manure Effect" for a good while after he leave. IMO, he wont get over the leaving manure syndrome for half the time he has left as a premiership footballer, and thats being optimistic. This season 3 years on is the time its taken Butt plug to work it out, If under the strangest circumstance he did end up at the mackems, he wont be their saviour.

All but signed for Everton. would take him here for £4m or less here without a doubt. Great squad player.
