Sometimes, he's spot on (from some tweet):

I think this is worthy of its own thread. According to Wikipedia, Venison scored only 4 goals in his career, one of them for Newcastle: Unfortunately, this leads to a dead link, but searching for Barry Venison Villa at Youtube shows that it was indeed a screamer, but the ball did not come bobbing from behind. You're either making up goals, or you are a Mackem.

It's good that he's scoring, as long as we concede more than we score. Gives him some confidence and an easier start for the next manager.
-
He's doing a great job destabilising Pardew's position.

The c-word? Charlatan? It's not libellous.

I'm sure zicomartin's utterly scientific facts are only being repressed by all credible journals due to their refusal to publish anything in the logically required one-sentence-per-paragraph format.

Not worthy of a thread? Worthy of a pint!

Should have kept Shola A true leader, Shola. Makes everyone else look competent.

Italian pronunciation: [ɡratˈtsjano pelˈlɛ], according to Wikipedia.

That's unfair to Joe Fucking Kinnear.

Nah, he looks like a great prospect. I was directing my sarcasm towards the Norwegian national team. Even if the kid turns out to be the next Pirlo, Norway will still be shit for the next eternity and half.

Best player on the pitch. Which raises the question: So what?

Shola's been good. That usually means he's about to get injured. -

Mildly entertaining, this, even without Shola. -

I thought England were pretty good. Loads of pace, creating a few chances when countering. I also think Pirlo is the coolest footballer on the planet, but that's hardly controversial. -
They'll score nine. You can't score more than that.

Perhaps an attempt at irony?

He probably had more to spend than Brann. Not that I've bothered checking. However, I consider his most impressive feat was turning it around after Molde were absolutely shit at the beginning of the 2013 season, languishing at the bottom of the table for quite some time, and then finishing fifth or sixth or whatever after that miserable start. Of course, most managers would have been sacked long before he turned it around, so it might be less impressive than it seems.

Better than expected. Mid-table mediocrity.

Ashley probably just hired Kinnear to force Pardew to resign, so he wouldn't have to pay up his ridiculous contract. Then, when Kinnear hires himself as manager, he's sacked for some legal technicality, and Ashley brings in some other cockney.

I read something the other day about why Norway's youth team is doing so well -- which was a surprise to me, as I don't follow it closely. Or at all. The claim was that it's due to the economic crisis, which for some reason struck Norwegian football hard (which is true), despite the fact that the overall economy is doing spectacularly well compared to the rest of Europe. The result is that instead of clubs bringing in foreign mercenaries looking for a stepping stone toward the bigger leagues, they have to rely on their own youth development. I don't think the same applies to England. Good English players are still more expensive than foreign players, especially at premier league level. Just look at NUFC. Although youth development was one of Ashley's stated goals, the players are mostly French.

Solskjær?! Oh, right, that's an old comment.
