This 100%. His close control, ball retention, quick feet and accurate short passing are tailor-made for the sort of role he played on Sunday. Add to that, his brilliant fitness levels, his engine and attitude and you have someone who could really hold this position down as his own.

When a player is called upon in an incredibly important position, rises to the occasion and plays his socks off for the team, you really can't help but love a performance and the player himself. He's done very well when called upon and for that I am very grateful. Hopefully this continues on the weekend in an important match. His slip/fall/foul on that was unfortunate as I was hoping that would be his goal. But he played some wonderful stuff and was dangerous as usual. Manager sacked, interim still there - the season to play for still and a summer where there could massive change in terms of backroom staff/new manager and a major decision on players staying or going before they look at new signings....this whole thing smells like a load of crap to me.

I see it more of Tiote's problem than Cabaye. Tiote can function as an excellent DM in this league. I'm not sure a player of Cabaye's type has ever really been a success. Id rather we look to develop the 2 by means of finishing the season together and allowing a pre-season and continued development vs. just giving up when like stated above, only started 16 matches together this season. I think they will develop more as our wing-play develops more and we solidify what is going on behind them with Stevie Taylor slotting back next to Colo or a pacier, strong, more assured upgraded CB plays alongside Colo to solidify the spine. I also think the analysis on deciding whether the 2 will work together is far from finalized as our style of play has been so wayward and their appearances together have been interrupted by injury/ACON/summer-preseason-fail etc
