  4. The minute we get a better attacking kid or another top winger I think we’ll see a far better version of maxi. He doesn’t strike me as a guy who goes into full maxi mode in preseason

  10. Harvey Barnes is class.
  11. I'm fairly certain if Howe could sort out a deal for Paqueta he'd absolutely change the system if needed to maximize him as a #10 or wherever needed (right side of the 3 in def, license to get central as a #10 in attack)...
  12. Mate, I know that. TV money is INCOME, which is fine. It does not change anything. Your comment on PIF being able to inject money is what I'm on about . If we were allowed to just take owner injections of cash and go bananas we'd be doing Chelsea and Man City. Surely you know they really can't do that anymore either because you can't compete in any competition anymore if you're not operating by the rules - and the rules on spending are tied to INCOME. There is a reason why the club are currently hampered by FFP regulations and PL red-tape on related party sponsorships. Our current lack of income doesn't support a meteoric rise increase in wages, heavy transfer spending, the accounting on amortization etc etc (sustainably speaking). This is why nearly every article talks about the commercial side being slower burn and the club's inability to get a real top drawer commercial done so far. The league created new rules around sponsors because they feared PIF would instruct aramco, etc to drop in massive record breaking sponorship deals as a way to create income for the club to spend. That hasn't happened / maybe won't ever happen.
  13. What? Unless I've missed something: 1) TV money is considered an approved stream of cash and is considered income 2) Owner injection of cash is not considered income, its equity, you can spend equity but you need income from non related parties If the above didn't apply, then Man City wouldn't have been fudging around with massive sponsorship deals and sketchy commercial deals etc.
  14. Ok so let's play this out for 1 moment - 1) PIF inject cash into the club, 500m as you say. With absolutely no restriction or approval needed from the PL. OK. 2) Once club spends say 500m, it's subject to the FFP regulations. OK. Conclusion: So it absolutely does matter, because once you spend it, you're subject to FFP calcs. Which, need non related party injections of cash (IE: a completely unrelated 3rd party commercial partner) for the purposes of the calculations to deem compliance to the rules.
  15. A lot of clubs do this FYI. Many clubs wanted the PL to take out a master financing plan for PL clubs to utilizie that was leveraged against TV money...this would then be drawn upon (each club's share would be tied to the TV money owed to them) to handle cash flow - particularly the smaller clubs. I don't think or know if this ever got done, but I believe the league did not want to be in that business and so it was up to the clubs do that. Again, every club is entitled to the TV money, some choose to advance it (like we are) and some don't. If the interest isn't terrible then its absolute no brainer to do so. If your debt is manageable, debt is fine. It's when you're over leveraging and don't have a proper backer to support the debt in a full backstop that you're at risk. Further, and this is very very important, there is nothing to say the PIF don't "issue shares" like they did in the past to pump more money into the club in addition to this. It's NOT one or the other, exclusively FYI. This is a perfect example of us using the tools necessary and available to us whilst being self sufficient and hopefully using it to our maximum benefit.
  16. I'm fairly certain MOST PL clubs take advantage of the broadcast money by setting up a facility like this to advance those streams early to use for whatever means necessary. I think in the past, MA never or rarely did this.
  17. Athletic in May: Paqueta is liked by the scouting team and he did feature briefly in conversations with Lyon in January before a bid for team-mate Guimaraes was made, but Howe is expected to prioritise a striker and a wide forward ahead of a No 10 this summer so, at this stage, it seems Newcastle are focusing their attentions elsewhere. Athletic in March, when on topic of wide forwards/winger: Elsewhere, Bayer Leverkusen’s Moussa Diaby, Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze, Watford’s Ismaila Sarr and Nottingham Forest’s Brennan Johnson are among the younger players Newcastle have tracked long term, while the club are believed to have asked about Lucas Paqueta’s situation at Lyon in January before acquiring Guimares. Re: positions played, read more about him - it’s been said all over he’s played as 10, 8 and wide forward. He’s also played as a false 9. He’s your modern attacking player who is renowned for his versatility.

    Joelinton

Giving a red in a friendly is so weirdly unproductive unless it was serious shit and purely intentional. Joe went in hard and late and he should’ve had a huge talking from the Ref and they should have continued play. It’s so stupid. “Oh let’s now make him serve a suspension” in a friendly game where both squads pay for this match to happen.
  19. A loan for a out of favor CM who can play as the 6 or 8 would be ideal. A purchase of a top 8/10 would be ideal who can cover mid and attack would be great. A purchase or loan of a striker backup to Wilson who could play wide forward too.
  20. I know I just watched highlights, but surely last nights match + injury to Shelvey shows we still have much to do in the market before the window closes to solve both starting and depth issues. when some of our true rotation players who are pushing to start have durability issues that’s got to be sorted out via signings.
  21. Wish NUFC TV would give some love to worldwide audience
  22. Wonder where he could play - he wouldn't displace Longstaff or Willock IMO.
