This team lacks the kill-switch and I'm not sure its the players themselves or the managerial ethos of Pardew. I'm wondering if its a bit of both; the team generally has a chance or 2 to kill the game off and we generally miss those opportunities but they are rare in occurrence.

No need to take Gouffran and Sissoko away from covering for Santon and Debuchy. Anita in for Cabaye and HBA in for Shola. That's our best bet at keeping the ball and providing ample cover to our full backs.

If we go on a run of great form again heading into Arsenal match and January window...would be brilliant to grab a few shrewd signings ala the winter we bought Cisse to try and push for a CL spot. It would be mad for Ashley not to do that, the payoff with CL money + TV money would be incredible.

We've got our home support & an absolutely brilliant win at Old Trafford to buoy them, 3 points is absolutely the minimum and AP needs to be positively encouraging the troops to sharpen their swords and batter them.

He wasn't good when Yo wasn't playing b/c he was still on some awful form for us at the beginning of the season. He'll be fine on Saturday imo.

It's a disciplined formation in that it still maintains the core of the system and allows for us to keep possession and continue to give our full backs cover. It would be least damaging IMO to have HBA playing in a Cabaye role or hybrid up top with Remy. It requires the least of his tracking back. It means the onus will be on Anita/Tiote/Gouffran and Sissoko to continue their high work rate but Anita and Tiote are more inclined to sit than anyone else.

IMO, it is going to be either 4-4-2 or 4-3-3. Hypothetically could play the exact team with HBA in for Shola and it would be a pretty hybrid 4-4-2 or 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 type formation. I could see him considering Hatem in the middle in Cabaye's role so that Debuchy and Santon will continue to get cover from Sissoko and Gouffran respectively. It still allows our wide men to tuck in and play defense. The alternative is he goes back to 4-4-2 at home and plays Tiote/Anita in the middle with Gouffran/Sissoko wide and Shola/Remy up top.

Why include Sissoko in the 2nd group? He's more than justified his position in the team in the past 6 matches no?

This is the kind of performance I remember from him when we finished 5th. In a team playing well and together he comes in and his confidence and ability shines through. I think he'll be slowly eased back into the team.

I may not agree or enjoy his tactics or style of football (or lack thereof) But if whatever he does equates to results and winning. Then so fucking be it.
