  1. Regardless, its about setting standards which are acceptable at our football club. I don't think that will happen but it wouldn't be because we sacked him, it would be because he did it in the first place.
  2. I appreciate the Barton situation was handled, shall we say 'differently' but I think it was a different situation. Here, I think there should be only one outcome, Carroll should be sacked immediately for gross misconduct. If we let him off with a fine, you set a precedent and send out the totally wrong message to the other players, club and fans. Unless there was significant mitigating circumstances which we don't know about, it should not be accepted at any football club, with any player, regardless of how important they are. The bottom line is you cannot break a team mates jaw and expect to keep your job.
  3. Scholes for me, just narrowly beating Gerrard who I think is also outstanding
  4. Brilliant, Hughton in the same breath as Ferguson! I've heard it all now!
  5. Looks a good prospect but needs to develop, nice thing is I can see the potential there.
  6. This, well I hope that's the case, otherwise he looks very slow
  7. Nolan has been out of condition from the day he arrived here, whether he puts the effort in or not he's just too slow around the pitch. The same is true of Butt and Smith who are both players who's best days are behind them for one reason or another. Hughton is playing them because they are all disciplined and will defend resolutely even if they don't offer much offensively. Guthrie should have been the one to provide the drive but he hasn't held down a central position. He should have been given more opportunity to prove he can dominate the midfield battles, but when he has had the chance he hasn't given much indication that he's up to it. Very fair assessment of the centre mid options and performances
  8. Woodgate was a better defender at his peak than anyone I have seen in 28 years in a black and white shirt (ah sh*t, just dawned on me I'm getting old!) - if both players were fit and in peak form, Colo couldn't hold a candle to Woodgate. But as many others have said, not much use if he isn't on the pitch.
  9. I don't rate Colo - thought he was poor in the prem - admittedly didn't see him in other countries so can't say he is a poor defender and has been comfortable in the Championship but gave me no confidence he is a quality premiership defender.
  10. Part of me thinks that we are top of the league despite Hughton, rather than because of him

    Danny Guthrie

He never looks fit to me
  12. I thought this was coming, they looked a better team to me in the last 2 games.
  13. Unless we fine a wealthy benefactor a al Man City it will depends on price - I don't think anybody looking to run it as a business will touch us at £100/£80m equity price plus overdraft plus investment in squad required.
  14. Simpson for me isn't a premiership RB and I still have issues with Colo at that standard as well. Additionally, we lack depth so we may scrape through with those guys but an injury or two - urgh. Perhaps would be okay (I mean bottom half) if we improved our midfield to take some pressure off them as well.
  15. Old news that, the financing structure of Man U has been clear since Glazers took over - doesn't take a rocket scientist to work out what happens if they start losing.
  16. He isn't that good. Yes, I haven't seen much of him but I did wonder
  17. I'd love a creative midfielder but there are nowt around that we could aford/would want to come - can only hope we uncover some youngster
  18. Not to be negative, but if Beckford is that good, why is nobody else in for him or have been in for him over the last couple of years?
  19. I wouldn't - not a big enough move - better biding his time till something better comes along.
  20. I'd like a decent midfielder but regardless of whether its a striker or midfielder, we need some serious pace.
  21. I didn't need to go past the second post of this thread to get the right answer!
  22. Easy decision for a company like Addidas - its not about shirt sales, its about the brand and given our last few years, there is nothing advantageous to the Addidas brand being associated with NUFC.
