If McClaren is that "decent", he wouldn't be managing Derby. I honestly think result-wise he is even worse than Pardew. May be a more likable person, may be better football, but pretty sure the result would be even worse than now. Shit manager. Pointless appointment.
-
Now I start to think Pardew may not be that bad --- it's Carver who make our team that shit. I am not sure if this is a joke as well.
-
It depends. For players like Sissoko and Cabella, their value is still much higher now. Its the likes of Tiote which has been completely found out in this league that has their value dropped below their initial cost.
-
sissoko colback abeid are my choice. no disputes on the front 3 as I think Riviere can be a lot better than what he's shown so far
-
Warning for not going a match. And I paid for the ticket. What?
-
I start to think Forster is the better keeper now
-
Not really. I think it actually indicates the reason why Santon's sold: to cut down the wage bill because Euro qualification is already gone at that point. Pretty sure Sissoko and Gouffran are on high earners in the club and you can see the impact now. Seriously we have several deadwoods in the club that are highly paid and non-productive, e.g. Anita and Riviere. Jonas (sorry) and Colo are close to that category as well.

My guess would be like this: take Mbiwa for example, we bought him for 10m, amortized over 5 years, so approx 2m per year amortization cost. However after 1 year he's loan and sold to Roma for 5m. So his net value after amortization (10 - 2) = 8m would take a hit of 3m immediately to "mark to market" (i.e. 8m - 5m). i.e. it's like loss of value in inventory. This is reasonable for Mbiwa's case as we obviously sold for less than his net value at that moment. However I can't think of another player that has similar issues. Santon is not the case as he is near the end of his contract and his net value is close to 0. For the wages, pretty sure there is bonus elements, either to the players or to the manager (i.e. Pardew) if golfmag's info re profit sharing is correct. I am not surprised for the wages to shoot up though, Remy is costly and those french winter injections would take a full year hit to the account. That's reasonable. However for the remaining 6m other operating cost, fucking hell, I simply can't think of any reason here.

It is not a bad thing. We will relegate, and Ashley will sell the club. That's the light. Carver for Manager.
-
We were right to let Pardew go at that moment (or sack him, sadly we couldn't), and this actually doesn't really related to whether he is a good manager or not - the fact that his existence here helped Ashley to generate huge profits is already more than enough. If someone doesn't understand this is for the long term good of NUFC, then just let it be. Due to the above, I think people should be more objective in judging Pardew's ability. His work in Crystal Palace is absolutely brilliant. Even if it is "the new manager bounce", which I don't agree with, his appointment is already the most successful one in EPL this season, by paying 3m to secure a place for next season, and got lots of funds in the coming summer to enhance the squad. Unless Crystal Palace relegate next season, he would not be considered a bad manager anymore, at least not here.
-
that's what i heard from nearly everyone outside here to be honest
-
hate towards the set up finally surpassed the love towards NUFC
-
The problem is, why would Ashley go away when the club's earning money AND remaining in EPL? This doesn't make sense actually. You could see nearly all other teams investing as much as they can to remain in EPL, whilst we are doing the opposite. On the other hand, it's not easy for Ashley to find a buyer, or else he would have sold it 4 years ago. NUFC is dead. Certified. We should support other teams in the region e.g. Gateshead, and hope they will pay back the faith in the future. Even if it's 10 years, at least there is hope.
-
WTF is "cannot handle the fixture"? Jesus fucking christ. They are paid millions and cannot handle a fixture?
-
We should all change to support gateshead FC
-
i dont think impairment of stadium or other fixed assets would be included in operating cost. I am not familiar with UK accounting standards but I would be surprised if revaluation of players are included in operating income / costs, unless the players are treated like inventory the mark to market during the end of each accounting period. Ironically that may be the real case - all players are just inventories.
-
That should be the difference. Those are "non-operating income / expenses". So even if we received less money than quoted, it should only impact after tax profit. So the question re the operating profit still persists. 30m more revenue, 4m more operating profits, so around 25m additional cost incurred. This doesn't make sense, unless, that's the "Bonus" paid to everyone for finishing tenth.
-
On the banks along an area of the River Tyne.
-
Not familiar with UK standards, but I would be surprised if player's revaluation is above the operating profits line. That means the additional cost is not due to player's revaluation nor transfer payment. As someone mentioned, training centre cost should be capital expense and should not affect the operating profit.
-
Three reasons 1. Aarons are fucking injury prone 2. Sammy over Gouffran anyday 3. If we let Sammy leave, we may have to play a random player from U18.
-
3 cheap bargain in, 1~2 youngsters like Perez, give new contracts to Haidara, Abeid and Sammy, rebuild done. Sell Krul Sissoko Cisse Anita Janmaat keep Riviere Raylor. A clear out means time to earn money. I fully expect the shittest outcome.
-
I think re the unrealistic expectation, Pardew is right, given the resources provided by Ashley. Newcastle could compete with Liverpool if and only if we are a properly running club, which the truth is we arent, we are just a cash generat ing machine for Ashley. Not saying Pardew isnt shit, just I dont think there is a manager in this world who can earn money for Ashley and improve the squad to compete with the Big 5 at the same time. Thus under Ashley all ambitious expectation (i.e. anything above 10) is unrealistic. Fuck this club.
-
thats why i was not happy after the 2nd half fight back. it just shows how pathetic the club is now, from the top management to the supporters
-
Well to be honest I hope we relegate this season as well.
