  1. Think Terry is getting too much credit this season. For the first half of the season, he was decent at best. Since they've sat a bit deeper and always played a dedicated DM (or two) he's been great. In fact, he's always great when most of the play is ahead of him. When he has to worry about what's behind him that turning circle can get badly exposed. Clearly Rio's been the better player. At his peak he could get into any side in the world more or less. That's never been the case for Terry.
  2. Vidic hasn't been their best defender for a good while, if he ever was. Since the injuries especially. Massive, massive injuries.
  3. Chelsea are a massive side like. Tiote is pretty strong in the air defensively for a CM.
  4. Eye witnesses are notoriously unreliable. Last week on my way to dropping the kids at school we had to slow down as there had been an accident and there were police cars and an ambulance. When the traffic officer waved us through (they had it down to 1 lane) both me and the 2 kids swear blind we saw a middle aged man in a navy coat lying on the pavement being attended to by 2 paramedics. The chronicle reported that a 15 year old girl had been injured and taken to hospital! Yep.. the brain is easily mislead and will simply replace/misinterpret information seamlessly and the person would be telling the truth.
  5. Tiote is like a magnet for action. He must be close to making the most touches in the side and pass attempts/successful. He's always involved. Anita sometimes drifts in and out. I dont' want to say that he hides but sometimes he's a passenger. FWIW Tiote is always in the driving seat, whether good or bad.
  6. I think Rio's extra class really helped Manchester United in Europe and he was a much better player for England than Terry was. The last 5 or so years he's been really been hampered by injury and even then he's been an important part of their side. John Terry's younger than I thought. Only just turned 33. I do think he's been fortunate that the majority of the successful Chelsea managers prefer dedicated DM (or two) and a deeper line. It was particularly hilarious watching Terry in AVB's insanely high line. Almost as funny as Dawson.
  7. Half of my assumptions are based on the fact it is 'egomaniac' John Terry.
  8. Disagree. If he were scared he wouldn't take the 5th penalty.. in fact he wouldn't take a penalty at all - nobody would expect him to. "Captain JT, to score the winning penalty" was all that was in his mind. All ego and brazen confidence.
  9. A central midfield of Anita, Tiote & Sissoko would be brutal. Not a slice of creative guile between the 3.
  10. Ramires has got to be one of the very best players in the world on the counter. His pace over long distances is amazing. He was the difference against Barcelona in the semi's. Long busting assist for Drogba at home and a truly world class chip away. Didn't he also get the winner in the FA Cup final?
  11. Think we should do Rio Ferdinand next. Maybe John Terry too. For me, Rio has been ever so slightly under-rated by fans and the media. While I think Terry has had the fortune of having a few managers/teams play to his strengths for Chelsea, he's a brilliant defender, a true leader and a better ball-player than he's given credit for. Moscow though LOL. I had money on Chelsea to win on penalties and I was shocked when he stepped up to take the 5th penalty. But he looked so confident, so assured after initially thinking he would miss because he's John Terry, I was certain he would score. Players with that level of assuredness don't miss the penalty. Well we know what happened next.... he was the opposite of Anelka who very obviously didn't fancy it at all.
  12. Agreed. Those knee injuries have curtailed his game something serious too. No real big loss.
  13. When I saw you against Valencia he was coming SO deep to get the ball and he was being rather ball-greedy. Was genuinely selfish at times and the crowd got on his back ever so slightly for it on at least one occasion.
  14. John Henry's in L'pool for the moolah. But he understands he must get them into the CL and build a new stadium to maximise their value and profitibality. Ashley's looked at us and said... avoid relegation and we'll get great advertising and a little profitable machine going. We can even go to Scotland and flog some more Donnay.
  15. I don't understand this argument. His asking price will not become lower once he's paid off the debt, it would probably become higher because a) the club would be debt free and b) a profit making machine he wouldn't want to get rid off. Higher asking price <> looking better to potential buyers. I remembered this soon after pressing the post button.
  16. Not really. We could easily get another £10m in commercial revenue if Ashley tried.
  17. Saying that we'll just be free promotion and another source of income.
  18. How much do we owe him? 100m? It's looking like the sooner he can remove that from the clubs debts the better we'll look to buyers.
  19. You could understand to a point when it was Casillas and Ramos... but you knew he had lost it completely when he started doing it to Pepe and when Cronaldo refused to align himself with Jose.
  20. Certainly Abramovich was looking to get him the boot but it wasn't as simple as Mourinho vs. Abramovich and co.
  21. "I thought Mourinho was practically untouchable, but a lot of players had complained about him, notably John Terry," Makelele wrote. https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=john+terry+mourinho&oq=john+terry+mou&aqs=chrome.1.69i57j0l5.5848j0j7&sourceid=chrome&espv=210&es_sm=93&ie=UTF-8#q=john+terry+mourinho+bust+up Certainly a strong rumour and Makelele has little reason to lie.
  22. He did exactly the opposite at Real Madrid, particularly in his last year there. Always deflecting blame. Exactly. Wait till stuff doesn't go his way, it'll all be 'players who betrayed me etc' like last time he left Chelsea. Ummm, no. Chelsea 1.0 was all Jose vs Roman and his cronies. In the end he left because of a bust-up with Terry, no? There where rumours he had began losing the dressing room. Obviously, it was just a short term issue and not fatal.
  23. I think they should've given the job to someone with management experience like McClaren Dunno about McClaren but certainly someone with experience. It looks like Pulis & Bruce are getting the most out of their teams. Wham are terrible but I don't see them going down unfortunately. I do think Zaha could really help get Cardiff out of trouble.
