He doesn’t look a LB to me.
-
To me.. in a 442 he’s a striker not a winger. He’s got a strikers instinct and movement in the box and off the ball. He’s also a good finisher off both feet. He can pull wide and deliver off both feet too. And obviously he does his defensive work diligently too. he’s not a creative or progressive passer and he’s not great at dribbling. However, he does carry the ball forward and retains possession. He’s also fantastic at buying fouls. I think of him like our second striker offensively. aye he’s got his limitations but he works around them well. He’s a big reason why I think we need a creative RW because Gordon is basically a forward/striker. His Xg is strong because he gets into good positions. He’s a pretty composed finisher too off both feet. Good first touch in the main. He’ll continue to score and be in dangerous positions. My only real gripe is that nearly all of his gold and assists have been at home. Could offer more away from home. Overall he’s turned me into a fan. He’s also done well to play all of these games. Only him and Bruno have played right through everything iirc?

Tbf it looks like Isak was rushed back when not fully fit. He’s not managed a good 70 minute performance in a long time. I wish Howe left him out, played a kid upfront until Isak was ready. Fully fit Isak transforms this team. And is an actual attribute to the team.

Some of these criticisms are weak. Like Botman playing Sheff U away is perfectly reasonable. Trippier played 80 odd minutes in that game and he should’ve been off after an hour - I think that’s fairer criticism. The rushing players back from injuries is an issue. Particularly Isak who hasn’t looked fit.

Hands tied. The time to rotate was literally months ago atp. We’ve lost momentum. We are losing players. We are fatigued. Performances won’t be ideal and neither will results. Still Fancy us to win this and build something.

Good decision. Something has been off for weeks.
-
Seems a character. And a prick.
-
I don’t think he’s all that. But he’s way better than Lloris. Very flappy from crosses. Good with his feet. Good shot stopper.
-
Dubs lets that in through his legs.
-
Their press is awful.
-
State of goalkeeping today man. Forest don’t look a well Coached side.
-
Vocation is flappy from crosses isn’t he?

We had some big moments against Dortmund at home but we were well worth the defeat. Our general play was better in the league cup final but we never looked like scoring.
-
He’s also learning about becoming a professional at 18. I remember Howe signing Ramsdale and Solanke and it was really 2 or 3 years too early for them to be effective PL players. Could be similar with Hall.

Ok cool. Keep talking about ETH and Man U in the Eddie Howe thread.
-
You don’t even support our club. Your input about our club or me as a poster means absolutely nothing to me. This is a NUFC forum. Bad faith Man U fan opinions should be ignored. Especially in the Eddie Howe thread.

Aye he came on in the last 5 minutes. If we didn’t want to keep him and the obligation is appearance based - that doesn’t make sense.
-
I don’t think it’s an intentional ploy to in pre negotiation. The potential impact on the lads mentality is huge and not worth the risk. If it wasn’t a true concern about him. Im a bit ambivalent to the whole thing. I think he looks a talent but more of a midfielder than FB as his history already suggested. He’s not looked a defender so far and is currently 4th choice LB and 9th choice CM (ok i made that up). That £30m can surely be used in a higher priority position or for a first team ready player. However, if Eddie and the club want him - I want him too.

2 pages of entertaining Froggy’s nonsense. Well done lads.

What did Howe actually say? Aye. We knew Howe wasn’t enthralled with his performance/training but this quote is a definite marker. He must know what the criteria is so it’s just a weird one. FWIW I don’t think Hall looked ‘an amazing prospect for Chelsea’. Tino looked amazing for Soton. Hall looked a talented player but not PL ready or owt.
-
Nowt wrong with criticism of his performances. It’s the ‘ruthless Saudi’ fanfic patter that I think is a thinly veiled measure to talk about Howe getting the sack.

Diaby’s a good player. But so far… he just looks good. Leon Bailey has taken his place in the side with some great performances. In Villa’s setup he’s essentially a second striker. He doesn’t have to chase fullbacks defensively from what I’ve seen. So his G/A record is good but unspectacular considering his position and the quality of the team. At this point I would rather Cole Palmer for his playmaking abilities.
