Sorry but its not Dave, some people on here go on about "only signed some players on a free" in reference to the quality of our signings or squad, as if either would be better if we'd paid the market rate. Just the other day I read "we went into this window needing two strikers, and so far we've only signed one on a FREE!!", as if that makes Demba Ba any less of a quality striker

Been there, done that, sick of being fed bullshit (or weren't you paying attention on the last few deadline days) Tbf the business we did for our season in the Championship (especially in the January) was exactly what we needed at the time. Ben Arfa and Tiote weren't shabby additions to the squad last summer. With more than 3 weeks to go I haven't given up on this window yet - although it's pretty obvious plenty have. Same, I also think things wouldn't be quite as bad if we'd signed the players we have with a week or so between each one. Things would also be much more up beat if we'd paid £5m for Marveaux, £7m for Ba, and £7m for Cabaye, they'd be better players then and we'd have a better squad

The owner runs the club, if mud is thrown at the owner of the club it will inevitably hit the club as well. I think what your talking about is long term damage, no this won't damage the club long term, but in the short term it has.

They'd probably say to you that there's a very good chance that nobody is matching what he wants so he's talking about how he might just decide to stay incase nobody ever does. No it misses obvious transfers off there. For instance Routledge isn't listed as having signed for us, there's no fee for Habib Beye or Abdoulaye Faye (despite both having a fee listed in the sold catagory). If people took a minute to actually look at the site rather then just assuming its a factual source then I doubt it'd be quoted very often. Its numbers also don't even seem to match up accross the site. On the Newcastle United transfer page is says that in the five seasons between 2006-2007 to 2010-2011 we spent £84.7m and sold £116.15. While on the transfer league table page for 2006-2011 it says we spent £63.1m and sold £116.15. So the sold part matches perfectly, but they have what we spent completely wrong on the transfer league table. EDIT: They seem to be including this current transfer window so I had to modify the numbers.

We're not now at this very second, but this year and everything that's happening is very similar to our positions in summer of 2004. We had a chance, but went 2 steps down whilst they went 2 steps up. Within 6 months we've eliminated about 20-25 goals from our squad. How many have we added then? Seriously, I'm glad this is at least happening now. It gives us plenty of time to replace him. There's no way they can make excuses like "It was the last day and we just didn't have time". They have almost a full month to get the replacement in.

And your new left back is highly unlikely to be better than Jose Enrique, in fact given his ability it's almost certain to be a significant downgrade. Ok but we weren't a relegation threatended team after Carroll got injured/left, we got 24 points from 19 games without him. The replacement for Enrique is unlikely to be as good I agree. But we look to have improved in other ways, that looks a far quicker more dynamic team than last year.
