The Newcastle United Transfer Thread: D-Day [Spoiler: Not Much Happens]
Teasy replied to LooneyToonArmy's topic in Football
You think that based on what? Check my past posts, he's worth playing ahead of Duff but other then that I don't rate him very highly, haven't for a while. He didn't even play in those games! He made a few sub apearances and wasn't even on the bench for the rest of them. Oh and yes I mentioned the players brought in, re-read my last couple of posts. -

Most threatening player?, when? Yes he has talent but that means fuck all if its very VERY rarely used. He's done nowt for us this season, just like last season. As for our two most threatening players, Jonas and Martins, N'Zog isn't even on the list overall because he's only threatening once every 10 games. Since when has Taylor not had a good game this year like? I've seen two myself, both against us. No idea about Nolan but I doubt that's the case as well. Zog on the other hand.. well he might just qualify has having a single good game in the last yeat, perhaps.. -

Selling our best players?.. Zog? He's one of the most under achieving player we've had for a long time. When was the last time Zog had a good game?, I really can't remember. I've just breathed a sigh of relief when I heard he's having his medical, we get a player who'll be much more useful to us plus £6 million, Wigan have been mugged! Can't argue Given was one of our best, but considering we have Harper the blow is minimal at most. Plus he handed in a transfer request so there's nothing we could do. IMO the transfers so far (Given\Zog out and Nolan\Taylor in) have made us a bit stronger already, with £10 million created from those transfers as well. Now I just hope we use that money and a bit extra to strengthen further. -
So what the fuck have the Spuds spent now and what have they recouped??
-
I'd be fairly confident of getting something from this game if Jonas was available, but without him I'm struggling to see how we'll cause then any problems. Martins needs to be fit for this one!

Think the moaning little pratt has realised he's boxed himself into a corner and really has to sign for Wigan now, so I can't see that being a problem. -
He handed in a transfer request because Harper got the smallest of runs in the team ahead of him a few years back. He bitched and moaned about wanting to leave through his lawyer. He's obviously made it clear to Man City that he'll put as much pressure as neccesary on use to allow him to leave in January. Hence Man City's insulting offers and the reported pittance we've ended up getting for him. He's been a model pro for the most part but he's let himself and us down recently IMO and frankly I don't wish him well.

Butt was s**** again, didn't Nolan hit one off the line? Butt was much better than Nolan, and that's coming from someone who thinks Butt is 10 yrs past his sell by date. both were ok. no major balls ups and the most 50-50s i've seen us win in a while. lacking in creativity which i hope nolan will make up for with forward movement when we have forwards. today twice nolan got a head of the ball. how often have our central midfielders done that the last couple of years ? What about the awful back pass that let Chopra in for what could and should have been the winning goal for Sunderland? Butt had one of his better game, but he was still a liability at times.
-
Yep.
-
If you constantly push the other team back and worry them you're a threat yes? Jonas was our biggest threat all game and our only real outlet. He took the pressure off us and put it on them, something nobody else could manage to do.

Not sure I get this bit? Why would it be lifted later when he's at the Spuds? Did Wigan play more games in that period then Spuds? I think the point is he was cup tied for Man Utd FA Cup game, so that match shouldn't have counted as one of his suspension matches - not sure if that matters or not though. (As Optimistic Nut said just before me) Ah right, well it comes down to whether there's a rule for that and what it says, nobody knows so in that case the FA probably will just say its ok so they don't have to punish the Spuds.
-
Makes no difference what so ever, they'll get done if its true, simple as that.

Exactly, as long as we did get good money.
-
Not bothered in the slightest about Given going.
-
Aye! Get those bodies in! I hope I wrong but can anyone else really see anyone other than Ryan Taylor signing?? Screwed again by Dennis the Fuckwit wise, still got Geremi, lost Shay and Insomnia. No money spent and no players So far thats Milner 12mil, Shay 5-6m? and Zog 6m? Nolan 4m and Talyor 2m, what happened to the other 12 mil and the money we where promised this window??? We have been royally shafted again Very selective that like.
-
Am I the only one who thinks that doesn't make any sense?..
-
He was extremely fast.. at doing fuck all.
-
I was referring to Bruce's comments and how they contradict what the little french moaning shit bag said earlier, apparently Wigan are a very ambitious club you know. Ambitious enough to be a stepping stone club for a never has been who thinks he's a top four player before he's even become a good player.
-
Hugely ambitious that like isn't it?
-
We've sold out so it must be all rival fans.. love that logic like
-
He won't like, he'll start well, within a year he'll look huffy and barely ever perform, then the "My agent tells me" shit will start. The kids a rotten egg and I honestly can't see that changing because he's moved to a small club who are performing above themselves at the moment.
-
I'd pay to see the look on the little cunts face when he see's their facilities, training ground ect. Or when he plays the first game for his new hugely ambitious club.. in front of 14,000 fans

Money. That's really why it's hard to have respect for Given in this move. If a top 4 side were in for him fine, thanks for a job well done hope you go win a medal. But there is no promises that Man City will be in the top 8 next year, never mind the top 4. For all we know Shay could be replaced by the time they get anywhere near the Champions League. It's all about the money. And that's what makes it so disappointing. I think that is absolute shite. He's going there cos it has a sign of promise. There is no chance of him getting in a top 4 team so he needs to find a team that has a chance of getting somewhere. The only teams that have a vague chance of getting there are Villa/Man City. The reason Man City have a chance is because of money, yes, but thats not why he's going there imo. Anyone who thinks a move to Man City is a 'sideways' move from Newcastle United in its current state, is deluded. I totally agree. Some very petty barbs being thrown at an NUFC legend in this thread imo. well said he's jumping ship because we're in a mess and this may be his last chance to move on. he's stayed for many years and i think is 3rd on our all time appearances list iirc so it is not like you can accuse him of leaving at the first sign of difficulty or not sticking with us, he's done that for years when he couldve engineered a move elsewhere. No problem with why he's going, but I've got a big problem with the way he's pushing to go no matter what and with no concern for us at all. We'll end up getting a totally shit fee because of him.
-
Excellent deal, if we can get an equally good deal for Given (£8 million plus Johnson) and then use that money to strengthen I'll be happy.
