Hearing it around town doesn't give it any more substance like. The only thing that will for me is to find a reason why Ashley would actually want to do it. Because in our situation, with Ashley holding all debts and owning the entire club, it makes about as much sense to me as entering into a race with a dead horse.

a year with one of the best readers of the game in premiership history goes a long way. I always like Bramble at nufc but he's looked genuine top quality this season. Wigan's player of the year by a mile Small crowds and little media attention also go a long way for a player who has had massive confidence problems. An inability to read the game was never the problem with him, when he was full of confidence he was a monster of a defender. But he only needed one thing to go wrong and the pressure to hit him and he'd turn into a walking comedy routine.

The story requires no imagination at all IMO. Newcastle, big wages, relegation, Leeds, Administration, in fact I'm wrong, all that's required is imagination, certainly no common sense anyway. I mean I'd believe it was possible if anyone could explain to me what advantage Ashley gets from doing this? He can put anything to do with the club up for sale at any price he wants if he needs the money. There's no advantage in paying a heap of cash for administrators to come in and start selling his own assets off for a fraction of their value

Its got absolutely nowt to do with my post! You're dragging up the same old argument yet again for no other reason then you fucking love talking about it. Sorry but I'm not taking the bait and I doubt anyone else will.

basically, you said its laughable. I say it isn't. You can't say things are laughable when they suit you ..... with Ashley's record so far I wouldn't dismiss it so easily if I were you I'll dismiss it if it makes absolutely no sense obviously. Much like an article that suggests Ashley has decided to cut his own legs off, I'm not going to believe that story no matter how much I distrust him and I do distrust him by the way. You seem to believe Ashley would gain from putting the club into administration, I'm asking you how would he gain? Its a genuine question for anyone here by the way, have I missed something? How does putting a club he owns completely (including all the debt) into administration help the man? People like you said it made sense for Ashley to not spend money and "put the books right", whereas a much smaller number of people like me tried to tell you it made no sense for him not to show ambition and back his manager. Still think the same ? Meanwhile, I look forward to you castigating people who make "sarcastic comments" along the lines of "it's just to sell papers" the next time a newspaper prints a story that you probably hope isn't true, of which I'm sure will be plenty. What the fuck?

Kryten, he has no control over sale of the club if he brings administrators in. Or did I just misunderstand your post there?
-
It basically means administrators would come in and sell off Ashley's own assets at a fraction of their value and give the proceeds, minus there own rather large fee, to Ashley. All players would be available for next to nowt and the club would also be available for next to nowt. Unless Ashley desperately, and I mean DESPERATELY, needs a few million now I see no point in it at all.

Nobody owes the debt to him, he bought the club including its debts who are owed by the club itself. He then gave the club an interest free loan so the debts could be paid. So basically the club now owe Ashley over £100 million. That's why this sounds so senseless to me. When a club goes into administration the administrators sell off assets at a fraction of there value for a quick sale in order to pay off the clubs creditors. However in this instance Ashley is the clubs only creditor and everything at the club are his assets.

Again nothing, no response at all to my question. Tell you what, you respond to my question and then I'll respond to yours, you know since I asked first.

aye, its just gossip to sell newspapers isn't it ? Just like all those stories of Keegan being unhappy........ I know its probably too much to ask but could you actually post something with some kind of substance rather than the usual frivolous sarcasm? I mean the comparison you're making here is pointless. Instead why don't you back up the journalist and help others of this forum by imparting some wisdom. Tell us what sense there is in Ashley putting the club into administration when he holds 100% of the debt himself? If there is anything for Ashley to gain from that situation I'd be inclined to believe it to a degree at least, because as I said yesterday I'd put nothing past the man. Its just that, well this story makes no fucking sense what so ever to me. I see no advantages for Ashley at all, only problems.

If Bramble came back he'd be no different then before. He wasn't shit because he was too young, that's absolute bollocks, he was 26 when he left and he's 27 now. The real difference now is he's playing at a little back water club out of the limelight in front of 5 people per game, the pressure isn't the same as it was here. That said he can come back if Bruce comes with him.

My mates dad that is (writer) When you get a moment would you politely ask him if he's fucking brain dead?
-
My god that's fucking laughable. Informed chatter in the financial world?, so informed it makes no financial sense what so ever. Apparently he's going to call in receivers so he can force his own company to sell off HIS own assets for a fraction of their price to give him some of his own money? What am I missing here?, is the writer just brain dead?

Kinnear still having major input - so believe Bob Moncur
Teasy replied to Big Geordie's topic in Football
He said some success, as apposed to no success under Hughton. So you're suggesting that without Kinnears input Hughton would have done better? Like the last time he was in charge when we didn't win a single game. -
I'm going to make a scary suggestion here, put Wise in charge, at least he's not wet as an otters pocket like Hughton.
-
With any normal human being I'd agree. But apparently Ashley is willing to allow a man who has never won a game as manager of Newcastle United to stay in charge for the last 8 games of a season when we're in the bottom three already. In the hope that a man recovering from triple heart bypass surgery, who doesn't have a great win record himself, will get back in time to save us. All this season I've been thinking the same as you've just said, that we're trying to cut costs down for a few seasons to a point were we can start again to a degree. With next season being the one were it will begin (considering we're supposed to be almost breaking even by then) But I'll no longer put anything past Mike Ashley, if someone told me he wanted to sell Newcastle's squad into prostitution I'd be 50/50 on whether or not to believe it.
-
I think they just really don't understand the situation we're in, which IMO is that we're 99% sure to go down with Hughton in charge for even another four games. If they thought the same as me then of course they'd throw money at the management situation. They'd be clinically insane if they thought putting in £3 million for a chance of saving £150 million was a bad deal.
-
I don't see why not. Its fine to say "nah we're fine, don't waste money" in January with so many games left. But with 8 games left you'd think they'd finally realise the position we're in and become desperate and desperation is a great policy changer.
-
The club was up for sale when Kinnear came in, now its not. Also money talks, offer someone £100,000 per week for the 8 weeks and a £2 million bonus if we stay up and you'll have managers beating the fucking door down!
-
Its got its occasional exaggerations and bollocks, as usual, but I can't say I disagree with much of it!
-
I can't remember the club being in over £250m of debt under FS like. Now it is and boy are we paying for it. The debt levels under FS were worrying but manageable all the same. Unlike Ashley who it appears doesn't recognise at all the seriousness of the situation we are in, FS did hence the appointment of Sam Allardyce, a manager capable of doing wonders on a small budget and building from the bottom up. Oh and when the club goes down.... it will make the level of debt we were in under FS seem like pennies. So much for Ashley's plan eh. £250 million debt?, what are you on about? By the way our debt, and more importantly the way it was expanding, under Shepherd was not manageable. Our debt repayments were being paid for by more debt and so was a large amount of the clubs wages. Back then we owed tens of millions to outside lenders. Our only debts now are interest free loans from the man who owns the club.

3. Same as S Taylor. Yeah I thought it was three but wasn't sure if it might be just two Anyway while I like Jonas, and prefer him to Duff, three is three more then he's scored. Had a look on the Premier League stats page, Duff has 1 assist and 3 goals, Jonas as 4 assists and 0 goals so their relative value to the team based on goals & assists is pretty much equal. Jonas offers a hell of a lot more to the team both in attack and defence though. Yeah I agree.
-
Duff has one assist. Hmm, I have him down as two, I'll have to recheck that sometime. Just going off the official fantasy site. Just looked and I can understand why they have it down as one. They'll be referring to his cross for Carroll for the equaliser against West Ham at home. But I was also including his deflected cross for Ameobi for our equaliser against Fulham away. Maybe it'll have to go to the dubious assists panel
