Austin or a weird little gender bender looking ex Man Utd freak who insists on calling himself "little pea". Yeah think I'd prefer Austin Or even better neither of them, instead go for someone with loads of pace, something we don't have much of.
  2. None of those players should be playing regularly even with our current options.
  3. Obertan is out of contract next season along with Taylor, Williamson, Elliot and Coloccini. Can't wait
  4. Still can't see Cisse staying unless we really just can't get any decent offers for him. So with that in mind we definitely need another striker.
  5. Why are the others not playing today then? Mitrovic short of fitness, fair enough. Mbemba - who knows. No reason for Aarons, Perez and De Jong not playing although they all did midweek - that the reason? Maybe the plan is the bring Mitrovic and Mbemba on in the second half so he wants the likes of Aarons on with them.
  6. Is this really streamed on betting sites? If so which ones?

    Chancel Mbemba

Its optimistic to think we'll sign another center back at all. But I'm just hoping the claims from press that we're after two is correct and the only reason we've stopped hearing about defensive targets is due to uncertainty on Mbemba's transfer. Didn't say I think we won't try to sell a defender or two though, I think we'd definitely try to move Williamson and Taylor on.

    Chancel Mbemba

Hoping that when/if he's allowed to complete the transfer we might then get moving on bringing in a center back to partner him. We haven't heard much about defensive targets since Mbemba agreed to sign but again I'm hoping that's because we need to know whether we're definitely getting Mbemba before making the final decision on who the other central defender will be.
  9. “I’ve come in and said to Lee (Charnley, United’s managing director) and the board that I’d like to see him playing. I haven’t seen that yet, so I can’t make a decision on the future." Erm, have they actually told him that he has feck all say in who stays and who goes, or who comes and who doesn't? At the end of the day if the head coach decides not to play someone its pointless for the club to keep them around so he absolutely does have a big influence on who stays.

I'll start to worry if we look shit in competitive games, friendlies mean fuck all. Look at the Championship season for example, smashed 6 - 1 by League One Leyton Orient two weeks before the season started, then went on the piss the Championship.
  11. Well the more someone gets paid the less they value money so they can always bankrupt themselves if they're stupid enough and spend frivolously enough. But the fact remains that when you're earning close to a million pounds a year you don't exactly have to eke out ever penny to insure you're set for life. Especially in a area like Newcastle where living expenses are quite low. You only have to have some kind of sense, just the smallest amount will do. If you have none then no amount of money is going to save you anyway. Like I said I don't expect him to leave for a significantly lower wage so I agree in a way with what you're saying. A player of his ability should probably expect to earn maybe 200-250k a year after tax. Somehow he's managed to hit the lottery of 3 or 4 times that amount on a 5 year contract here and he'll obviously milk it for everything he can get so he can live the rest of his life as a millionaire without ever having to get off his arse again. Was just describing it as ekeing out and talk of 10-20k not really being a lot considering the length of time he can earn it that got me really
  12. Wouldn't expect him to take a big pay cut to leave. Having said that he earns more in 1 year than a reasonably well paid normal worker in this area will earn in their life time. In the time he's been here already he's likely been made a millionaire 4 or 5 times over, and that's if we assume he was bankrupt when we brought him in. Shouldn't be difficult to "eke out" enough to live on for the rest of his life from that lot to be honest.

Also friendlies are notoriously not indicative of how a team will perform competitively.

I'd agree about QPR not panicking if he had more than a year left on his contract, their finances are already horrendous enough without losing £12m. Yeah they'd lose a goal scorer but that kind of money could really improve their side. Also at least that way the cash would stay in the club for the future as the player/s they bring in with it would be on long term contracts (unlike Austin). We'll see what happens, I'd personally be very surprised if they don't panic like fuck towards the end of the window.

Probably, might panic them into £12m? I mean I would rather spend £12m elsewhere I suppose, but I'd still be happy to get him. EDIT: They've apparently turned down £12m, but that was with loads of time left to sell hoping for a bigger offer. What if a bigger offer never comes?, they may change their minds.

Well I'm reading things like "£15m would be better spent elswhere" or "He's a injury risk and we may never recoup £15m" as reasons why we shouldn't go after him. Just pointing out that we aren't even willing to pay £15m anyway so its pointless to look at it with regards to that fee. QPR can put that price on him if they want but we all know we won't pay it anyway.

People keep talking about £15m in this thread, but clearly we aren't willing to pay that for him anyway.
  19. Because: A: He's hated for torturing us for years on end B: He keeps re-emphasizing how much of an odious cunt he is every time he opens his shit hole of a mouth.
  20. Only 99.9%? I must have missed some of his posts..
  21. Oh aye we're just so bitter that he left
  22. He's a class player, far better than anything we've got and only 23.
  23. Unless our bid was a pair of sports direct socks I don't believe it.
  24. 34 year old Michael Carrick.. didn't realise it was April 1st
  25. He's a great athlete, very powerful and fast, he's just thick as mince. IMO he's the kind of player who shines in a poor side but probably wouldn't have what it takes to shine in a really good side. Still a useful player for the likes of Spurs, but not worth the £18+ million people are talking about.
