As far as if you've played 75% of the games you're available for with a country ranked as 50th or above (ranking is the average over 2 years not current ranking) then you're guaranteed a work permit. While if you're playing for a country outside of that you need to have played a higher percentage of games and it also then comes down to a decision (based on what other criteria I don't know).

I agree Ashley wouldn't be signing a player for that kind of money with the intention of him being anything but a first team regular. But in the end its down to the head coach who plays. If that wasn't the case we'd never have seen Cabella, Yanga-Mbiwa, Ben Arfa ect left out so often.

Can't hurt to have a bit more height as long as it doesn't sacrifice mobility. But I'll reserve judgement on how good Mbemba is in the air until I see him play. He's basically the same height as Shearer (1.82m vs 1.83m) and taller than Ferdinand, two of the best headers of a ball I've ever seen.

No ta. I'd rudite have Williamson. How many duels was he involved in then? If two, those stats are decent. If 100, then not so much. It was 12 arial duels total in those 6 Champions League games and he won 7 of them.

I don't believe it but Anderlecht fans seem to think he's really good in the air, he must have a hell of a spring on him if so. If that's what Anderlecht fans think I'd be inclined to believe them, they know him best after all. Also even if you don't rate the league they've also seen him play in the Champions League. Not like you can't be great in the air at 5 foot 11 either. Tempted to watch a couple of their Champions League games if I can find them online.

Don't see any issue at all with what he says there. He only mentions that other clubs tried to sign him before us but failed with their offers to Anderlecht, he was likely asked the question of other interest.. Just a massive stretch IMO to take his comments as "I only signed for Newcastle because these clubs couldn't match the fee". I mean he could lie and say those two clubs matched the fee but he then turned them down, but why on earth should he do that?

To be honest I'm not convinced Sissoko will go this summer. I mean I think Wijnaldum is his long term replacement, but IMO we'll still want a big fee for him and considering the season he's just had I can't see that happening. Still has 4 years left on his contract so we won't be desperate to sell right away.
