Does anyone know who this kid supported growing up? Feels like this has become a trademark signing for us. Looks quality in every way.

As I understand it, and assuming we paid £15m for him, he'll have amortised 20% since last summer, meaning we still 'owe' £12m in FFP terms. Sell him for £15m, we bank £3m for FFP, sell him for £9m and we immediately lose £3m etc. etc.

And him responding that he's not managed to get there himself as he pretty much lives between home and the training ground, but he's happy the players are getting out to explore the area as feeling settled can only help them on the pitch.
  4. ...and he was contracted to help a club bobble along just above the relegation zone in perpetuity. Which he was good enough for the last time we played him. But the club is now, rightly, aiming higher. it's not about the world owing him a living, just the club owing him the contract it voluntarily committed to. If he's not willing to put in the modicum of effort required to get a result that makes everyone happy e.g. getting his wages made up by NUFC while playing for someone like Middlesbrough, that's another story.

Revolutionary, what's going on with our youths level. Probably the least organic part out of everything that's happened at the club over the past 18 months. It's like a spaceship's landed.
  6. To be fair, if the unbothered don't say the way they feel, then our fanbase would be easily misrepresented as being unanimously opposed to hosting a couple of friendlies. I, too, am unbothered...
  7. Haven't watched since the match itself, but I've been confused by everyone saying what a good game Miggy had - on the ball at least. He's always a Trojan off it.
  8. Good post. Don't think he'll have perfected control over himself this season either - he clearly takes negative feedback like missed shots badly - but he's on the right path. Eventually he can be a very serious goalscorer too.
  9. This fixture is looking more juicy than it has any right to. Have to be ready for a humbling loss, but...

    Joelinton

There was one time in the first half where he absolutely steamrollered one of theirs which made me laugh. Wasn't even trying

    Sandro Tonali

    It was Shearer-esque.

All those yellow cards and he was clean. Wtf?

Think this is right attitude ultimately. There's only so much you can compare. For example, Keegan didn't have 4k drones to let him rewatch training sessions afterwards from multiple angles. Keegan's brains are getting retrospectively underrated. Different times, different requirements. But we should be nicking the old Brian Clough's a football genius chant.

Lovely little assist for Barnes' goal.
  15. Personally, I can't believe we welched on that deal with Emery not to dope our players against his teams.

    Harvey Barnes

Little things like that will buy him credit for the future so it was a smart move ultimately - we already had the game sealed at that point.

Felt like he was trying to keep the peace with that second chance he created for Wilson rather than taking himself Went against his instincts and got punished. Glad he did the right thing on the next go Great game, the first of many no doubt.
  18. Well done lad. Exactly what was needed.

    Sandro Tonali

Such a classy player. Totally unfussed.
  20. No. Not in the slightest. Genuinely surprised you'd think that.

    Eddie Howe

I think we should actually go ahead and do it. Hammer a stake in the ground and literally chain him to it like a mad dog to pull against. It'll go viral as fuck, improve our marketing and show up the new rule as being ridiculous all in one go.
  22. There has to be a middle ground though. An extra 6 vague sentences with accompanying archive footage would've done the trick. Milburn lifting cups, Keegan and 12 points, Asprilla and Barcelona, Bobby Robson's international respect, 5th biggest turnover in the world 20-odd years ago, times change, 10 managers and 2 relegations. Job done. I would think that's surely more captivating, and explanatory of the jeopardy and opportunity, to a complete outsider.
  23. Watched it. It's alright... Trying to think from a non Newcastle perspective, but I'd say it's lacking on history - to explain roughly what the club is. Realise they probably can't slag off Mike Ashley for legal reasons, but a bit about former heights like the Keegan days, the 1950s and our support's reputation wouldn't have gone amiss. To set the scene. Also, I feel it hasn't captured the magnitude of what's taken place on the pitch, and Eddie's achievements here and previously (the comments about him relegating Bournemouth, without even a sentence of context, felt like Steve Bruce had written the script and stuck in my throat). Why would the club put any faith in such a character? Well, he's learned what not to do... Realise that's meant to be a little joke, but to a total outsider who has no clue - if that's who it's for - it just sounds stupid. To be honest, the thing feels like it's been produced for an audience of one particular Prince.
  24. Yes, as I recall, Jamie Reuben was talking about switching seats to keep one of their directors away from Amanda Staveley. Supposedly the guy was nice as pie at the next match though. That said, I got the picture this latest story is about another club.
  25. Amanda sounded surprisingly - and relatively pleasingly - subservient over it, in fact. Still weird to have owners actively working to support the football people in their efforts.
