7/12 aswell!!! Thought I was going to get less, bloody hard some of those!
-
Spot on! Equally sad but true... if he does go it'll wipe out that sheer optimism he creates when on the ball, the anticipation of some pure genius taking place in front of you. The few games I went to last season he was the high point, even when he loses out trying to dribble past that third player he still leaves you with the positive feeling of "imagine if he did go that other yard...jeesus". With Ashley and Pardew at the helm it's difficult to think of anything else but the worst, positive side is that he seems to like Newcastle and loves us the fans. Would I like a more consistent winger and a good striker in exchange for Hatem? My brain says yes but my heart and every utopian sinew in my body screams NO!!!

One center back? I hope you mean as far as spending on defence? If Colo goes we need two Centre backs of the same pedigree. I think Williamson is OK as a squad player, not 3rd choice but fourth. I like Perch aswell but only as a defensive midfielder (squad player), he's far too brittle in defence.

I am useless at the quote button...ffs!
-
I think we are a bit pre-conditioned by the fact that our other two midfielders (tiote/Cabs) dive in a lot and aren't "afraid" to put their foot in. Anita doesn't do that, he does the bent knee, body low, bouncing back and forth shuffle to try and push the player backwards, timing issue I think or just doesn't know how to tackle? Well, tbh, i haven't seen much of that (the closing down) but that maybe more me than him.
-
He's very good at quickly closing down players but he does lack a good tackle, what he generally does is force them to make a sideways or backward pass by cleverly cutting down the angles. In comparison to Tiote he lacks the vision and timing to make the tackles and turn their possession into ours. his main failing for me tbh, his passing is light years ahead of tiotes...

If we do this we'll be in good shape. A striker, winger, and centre half will leave us with a very solid first eleven. Krul Debuchy - NEW CB - Yanga-Mbiwa - Santon Anita - Sissoko - Cabaye Ben Arfa - Cisse - NEW LW A couple of squad players or young talents will surely be better placed to do something than the likes of Gosling, Shola, or Obertan. Harper going is no loss, he was already finished. Elliot is capable back-up, then we have young lads to fight it out for 3rd choice. Yes, I agree we will have a decent FIRST ELEVEN, but what happens when we have three players out injured and another with a three match ban... WE ARE FUNCKED!
-
Quick comparison: Benteke for say 17M or Andy for 15M? Bite the arm off one of those!
-
But they should have been signed the previous summer and then another two or three in the winter to get us back to even keel... Leaving this summer for a replacement of 5-6 players. We are down eight or ten players once the current lot leave/shipped
-
I think he is a good player aswell but he always has a niggle or something which interrupts that form and it takes him a while (ages!) to get back into a streak. Not consistent is maybe what I'm trying to say, is that due to injuries though???
-
Short answer is no I don't think we will make more than four or five signings, of those two real prem class...
-
You genuinely think it's possible for us to sign 10 or 11 players in one window? I genuinely think that we should be capable of signing four or five premier league standard players and two/three youngsters from lower and/or foreign leagues. We are getting rid of 6 (maybe 7 - Colo) and we didn't replace two or three adequately last year. Not a case of possible but MUST as a minimum to progress (does Fatboy want progress...hahaha). We have two months till the start of the season and if Ashley were to say here's 40M... hey presto!
-
We release players and nonchalantly forget/ignore/reject the need to replace them adequately... Oh well!
-
Assuming we are 100% getting rid of the following: Harper, Shola, Obertan, Williamson, Simpson, Gosling 5 of which you would say are seasoned professionals and would get games. Last season we never replaced Ba & Best (Lovenkrands replaced by Gouffran), so that's another two and we still aren't sure about Colo... Getting rid of eight players means we should be getting at least six "seasoned" professionals (four/five of which "Purple") and another four or five up and coming if we are to make a difference to the squad and properly compete. Purples (first team players) Striker Striker Central Defender Goal scoring midfielder (sigurdsson type) Squad Players Right Back Winger (left and Right) Box to box midfielder Up and coming Striker Midfield Winger I for one just can't see us making the moves in the market. I reckon we will get two or three first teamers and a couple of squad players/prospects which is going to leave us worse off than where we were a year ago... Any manager would struggle with the above tbh, more so the pleb we have in charge at the moment (although he's not helped at all by fat boy and ratboy).
-
Aye, why would he tbh... Oh well!
-
We're very poor at transitional play, both going forward and back. My opinion was that last season we had results some of our performances didn't deserve. This season we have, by and large, had the results our performances have deserved. Agree completely with the above. We didn't deserve 5th place the way we played for a lot of last season, wondergoals and individual performances pulled us through a fair few games. This season we haven't had the rub of the green and our position is a fair representation of the awful tactics and lack of strategy/style/team play imposed byt the management staff at NUFC. I think we have the beginnings of a fantastic squad and with an intelligent manager we could go really far.
-
If I had to choose between Benteke and Cisse, I would go for Benteke. If I had to choose between Carrol and Cisse, it would depend on having real wingers and a different style of play. If Percy doesn't get this team playing quicker passes from midfield Cisse is always going to be offside. He's really talented and I don't think it's his fualt he hasn't scored so much this season as the service has been poor apart from when Marv has been on the pitch. If we got a bid of 15M+ I would sell... Hope I eat words next season
-
Get rid of: Simpson/Gosling/Harps/Obertan/Williamson I would not sell: Krul/Ben Arfa - They are game changers for me I would consider BIG bids for: Cabaye/Tiote/Cisse... I think we can replace them Try hard to keep Colo!! If we didn't sell anyone and got rid of those above we would need: Two Centre backs Right/Left Back Two strikers Left winger
-
Yes, I am Ronnie Stam! How the hell did you guys know? probably that Ronnie bloke, he seems to know the answer to everything ,
-
What the hell has Neil Cameron been taking? I watch Bilbao regurlarly and this guy is a more finessed version of Titus Bramble, makes a couple of big mistakes every game and is a liability on cards. Rehab Neil?
-
My mistake, Rose plays left back, we need back up for right back more than left at the moment.
-
To sum up my current thoughts: Signings this summer = :bounce:Really excited, think Ashley will go for it (30M??) Squad for next season = :promotion:Brilliant, new signings & jan signings bedded in with pre-season Team performances = :suicide:Sickly feeling in stomach, knowing that through individual player quality we will pull through games, but that the style and tactics from Percy will have us functioning at 65% of our real capability....

From the three relegated teams I would try and sign: Wigan Ronnie Stam - Offers great attacking options from right back or right wing QPR Samba - Can't beleive he's become so shiiite this season, worth a punt to see if he regains Blackburn form Hoillet - Only player to offer any real attacking threat for QPR this season. Not sure about workrate From other teams: Andy Carrol - Knockdown price (>10 million quid) Benteke - Has fight, reasonable technique, scores goals and shouldn't cost over 15M Lescott - Not getting a game at City, quality centre back Adam lallana - Impressed me the few times I have seen southampton play. Could be a little lightweight though? Danny Rose - Thought he has been outstanding for Mackems this season (not going to displace Walker at Spurs...) Sigurdsson - Another player at spurs who doesn't play reguralarly. I think he would be great for that second striker/advanced midfielder role. My "must do" buys for next season are: Left and Right Back (simpson leaving/Raylor injured) X2 Centre Halves (Coloccini probably leaving) X2 Strikers (obvious) Left Winger

When Ashley, Derek and Pards get together for their appraisal of the year they should have football Strategy at the top of their list. Followed closely by New manager and or Coaches... We haven't seen any positive flowing passing football from this team for quite a while, the players seem to be playing with fear/anxiety always, even when we came fifth the football wasn't great to watch. We get glimpses of it for ten minutes here and there but never an constant imposing threat like you see when Man City/Utd or Arsenal play you, in a lesser form Stoke, Everton and Swansea could all be seen as possessing an imposing style. The other major worry for me is that Pardew comes across as having mediocre intelligence, this will severely limit our chances, he just seems to lack any depth whatsoever which will eventually be translated through the team set up, phsycology and peripheral support entities/personel. Just have a quick think about the other top managers and whether or not they come across as much more sharp/quick witted/intelligent/strategists... You only need to follow his media outbursts to realise he is a close relation of Terry Fu**wit. Ferguson, wenger, Hittzfeld (another campaign anyone?), Mourinho, you can see it instantly accompanied by drive, security in their own ideals...etc...etc..etc. I hope Ashley (or derek) is also intelligent, he will be able to see this clearly when he analyses the past two seasons, he needs to shoulder some of the responsibility aswell.
