sorry, a couple more performances... better!

Folks, why do players suddenly panic on the ball in the second half and stop moving and creating options... Do you honestly think the manager says "hoof it out" boys, even a sunday leaguer has more nous than that, we are talking Professionals here... Pressure, confidence and other team's momentum make that difference to our play. I think if we get a couple more wins we will start to play like everyone wants...

Just read all of the dailies and one thing that sticks out is that they all have completely contrasting opinions on Jonas' contribution last night to the majority of this board. Taking a deep breath and thinking about his game last night he played an excellent first half and first 15-20 in the second half, he just couldn't keep up with the pace for the last twenty or so... As for Pardew and for sitting deeper: If Villa bring on Anhonlagor and weimman who both have pace and play between the lines, you have to sit deeper, reason being is that they fire long balls up to benteke and any flicks or passes through defence can result in greta pace outdoing you. The shola substitution was for reasons twofold (although shola badly let us down tbh), he was supposed to hold the ball up and act as an outlet and secondly to help out in the aerial battle in corners and freekicks (which he did). Anita and Mapou were obviously meant to stem the midfield onslaught but villa chose to bypass the midfield the majority of times and Mapoue became a huge asset then to us. I don't think Pardew is at fault for our second half display with regard to passing and fluent football, I saw a side yesterday willing to battle it out and putting every last sinew into holding a lead... Bit sick of the negativity, teams have to be able to see out games this way because you just cannot control a game for 90 mins and Villa had the momentum after the debuchy mistake. You could hear the crowd also giving their all... I reckon Chelsea are there to be won (or drawn), I doubt we'll see a defensive display but if we do go up a goal or two I still won't mind Pards trying to close the shop (copyright - fergie) as other better managers do....

I can't beleive some of the utter crap spouted on here, so all of a sudden Cabaye, Colo, Taylor, Santon, Anita, Jonas, Cisse all became incapable of playing a pass and were suddenly masters of the converted try attempt.... Jeez! Villa were playing well and with momentum in the second half, our confidence is shot and we couldn't answer with a passing game (which is what we should have done)... Don't blame it all on Pardiue... there are others responsible aswell!

Really? His substitutions were mind boggling. Not at all, there was genuine reason behind them, just not his fault that we are so brittle we treat the ball like a hot potato when under a little bit of pressure. Shola Turned out to be completely useless at the only thing he normally does well... I wouldn't have taken gouffran off, jonas would have gone if I were the manager, but well...
-
With the subs we had I think the only different thing I would have done would be leave Gouffran on and take jonas off.
-
Hook line & sinker....lol
-
Shola was supposed to be an outlet for us to hold the ball up... just didn't work cos' he's shint!
-
that penalty was heer stupidity, shepperding bloke out of the box and you lunge in...haway, give me simpson back please...lol
-
I think villa in the second half played some very good football, were first into the tackle and went sink or swim... We just weren't able to counter that, we should have kept calm and passed the ball around to take the sting out of them but we panicked and got brittle again. Don't actually think it was so much to do with his substitutions, although I was asking for jonas to be subbed, more that our confidence is so brittle.

Cisse Hatrick & debut goal for guffas

Like d the key phrases they have to laern at the bottom
-
Hatrick t'night please... With all the new fluid frenchies passing to you should be a stroll!!

I reckon Pardew will revolutionise football with his selection tonight: -------------------------Krul----------------------------- Debuchy--------Saylor------Colo-------------Santon Anita---------Cabaye-----Sissoko------Jonas ---------------------- Marveux--------------- ---------------Cisse--------------------------------- If winning: Perch for marv (again ...oh no) If losing: Gouffran to come off bench for Jonas
-
If it's a toss up between Saylor and MYM tonight I think MYM should get it. Saylor is short of match fitness and was on bench last week, can't be too difficult to pick up four or five words to help with defensive duties (man-on, step, Mapous ball, short, wide, line...etc). Didn't affect Debuchy!! Bloke looks class on the tube! Wouldn't be worried if Sayls came on as he is a big improvement on willo, just worries me about lack of match fitness.

Having read the original in Spanish (some things get lost in translation - specially google translate!), it's sentiment is not as sharp as that which comes across in english. There is also a cultural thing here, in south america the language is very much "full of love" and quite "sickly" at times, so when you read Colo gushing about love for each and everyone it's really the equivalent of an englishman saying he has great mates and appreciates them. Didn't see any harm at all in this letter... More an overreaction on this side (this forum aswell:)) due to incmprehension of another culture.

Just plain old jealousy I suppose, specially at the prices we've done business at...

I think the most likely situation will be that we play perhaps two new players against Villa and bring on another one or two when the game is under control. It could work against us if we introduced all of our newbies at once, players do need time to gel and it makes sense to introduce one or two so that the team doesn't get all it's shape (!) knocked out of it. I would go with Mbiwa in the back line and if we tie up sissoko, him in the middle with cabaye and anita. Saylor may be back...depends on Colo's mental state? My prediction: ------------------Krul------------------ Debuchy---Mbiwa---Colo----Santon ------Cabaye----Anita----Sissoko--- --Marveux-----Cisse------Jonas---
-
No more excuses, no more post match interview claims of small squads, no more defensive substitutions and a bit more match domination please Alan!!
-
if we do get sissoko we would have to play him: Perch or Sissoko? You decide... the line up to scare the balls off Villa: ---------------------Krul-------------------- Debuchy----Mbiwa-----Colo-------Santon ------Sissoko-----Anita------Cabaye---- Marveuax--------Cisse------------Goufran Bench: Haddiera, Flauvin, Saylor, Obertan, Shola, Harps

Was at the Chelsea Southampton match last week, really sore seeing Ba playing well. Was with a Canadian football coach who was mesmerized by his strength and also technique. One lofted ball coming over his shoulder with his back to the ball and he still managed to half bicycle kick it close to the target. Guy was completely amazed...
-
I really am totally depressed, I am feeling "empty" at the moment and just can't see us climbing out of this one. A new manager and some new confidence is all I can hope for... Jeezus, only at NUFC!
-
I honestly thought he would have brought obertan on and Jonas off as he was tiring and it would put them on the back foot a bit... Instead he brings on Perch for the guy who caused our goal and one of the two capable of putting us ahead. He needed to come out at half time with it in our heads to get another goalk and we would have had this lot... instead we get sit bakc and defend which is what we're worst at... YES, PLEASE FNUK OFF RIGHT NOW... If I was a player I would have zero confidence in this bloke.
