I could quite beleive that people in the team are "pointing the finger" at others. Human nature to try and appoint blame elswhere when things aren't going well. Like any other business/activity in the world, the leader should always be the first stop on the blame heirarchy and then work your way down: Mike Derek Alan Plebs (rather well paid ones!)

    Football pet hates

Having to predict another two or three teams likely results in the knowledge that your own team can't be relied upon to get the sufficient pointage to escape relegation. :explode:
  3. Mike, Unless Alan has pictures of you dressed in your bat man suit, with a large hole at the rear, and your sidekick in his robin costume, going ten a penny at your arse, please, please, please get rid of this frickin incompetant cnut now before the situation runs it's length and we are completely humiliated again. Thanks...
  4. I agree with his skills in the air, and that he gave his all... but he negated any possibility of starting an attack out of defence and his nerves were highly visible each time he was on the ball. A defender has to be capable of both defending and passing competently, unfortunately Mike can only do one of these things and averagely at best. A shame but you have to be objective.
  5. Would rather Bayern beat Barca, they will be well up for it and their team is better this year...
  6. We'd be silly to leave Tiote out of this game, it's a derby and there needs to be someone dominating the midfield, he's fresh after not playing last night aswell... Jonas and Sissoko may need a rest, we could freshen the whole team up with the following: ------------------------Krul-------------------------- Debuchy-----Tayls--------Mapou-------Haidara Ben Arfa-----Tiote-------Cabaye------Gouffran -------------------Marvellous Marv---------- -------------------Cisse---------------------- Bench: Elliot, Perch, Jonas, Sissoko, Anita, Shola When Tiote gets a yellow bring Jonas on, any defensive injuries and we have anita and perch, if attack needs freshened on comes sissoko and Shola the mackem slayer
  7. MOM for me. Thought he defended well and the few forays up the field always ended with a decent cross into the box. he has pace on him when he gets going as well. If we had to judge Santon and Haiadara on current play, Santon would be on the bench...
  8. "Plays far too deep" this is because Pardew, or the defenders we have(?), must ask for both his sitting midfielders to bring the ball out instead of a central back or full back who should be capable of moving up the pitch (at least half way) before needing to pass it to Cabaye. From here he would certainly have more impact on the game... Watch any of the top four sides from prem, la liga, italy whatever, they all are capable of spreading along the back and progressing up the field before the pass into midfield. Basic football, which we are incapable of implementing...
  9. Sorry, but the only part of his game he played well were the defensive headers. good defenders normally aim these at someone or the area they are in but Mike just blootered his high. Every time he got the ball he oozed nervousness, played crap passes and generally kept us on the back foot. Perch would have been miles better in there, specially as cardoza wasn't around (hindsight eh!), at least he can keep the game flowing. Sell in summer. End of... P.S. It was obvious he gave 100% and you can't fault the guy for his effort. well done!

I agree with the sentiment about "keeping us in the game" during the first half and going all out in the second but it still galls me that we don't first look at how to beat or score against the opposition but more the philosophy of negating them and then taking a chance at some point. I want us to stamp our "authority/style" in games and dictate to the opposition. Really frsutrating for me when we have players that can do this... Also, Bigi's contribution left me totally apathetic, whether that was the fault of Pard's instructions or the poor kid is still a bit young to step up... who knows. Yes, we played well with the crowd behind us for a 10-15 minute period, but Jesus H christ, we should be playing three or four spells of dominance like that every game. Rant over, dissapointed and need to vent spleen etc...etc...
  11. I really want to eat humble pie...but!!!! aaarrgghh!! Bet he brings both Ben arfa and Marv on when we're 1-0 down. Really could cry from frustration!
  12. Can't beleive he's left Marv out for Bigi... nonsense! real nonsense! We are chasing a two goal deficit and he wants to play it safe... This is the straw that broke the camel's back! FFS!
  13. Jeez, that defence looks weak as hell! :'( No Marv in there and bigi instead of perch, just wondering if this is a major masterplan or a total fcuk up???
  14. Benfica is a lost cause after our defensive terrence fu*kwittery. A win against scumderland will do please. It would give me great pleasure to see the mackems go down and us send them there, BUT, I would honestly rather see those brummy barstewards at Villa suffer, really would like to see them go down...

    Papiss Cissé

I was watching his runs carefully yesterday to see if some of the moans about him being offside more often than not, the reality is that he makes some exceptional runs and he sees the person receive the ball but more times than not they don't release early enough, cabaye did it a couple of times. He is red hot at the moment, just lady luck is at that time of the month I would say... Benfica, you will suffer !3!!

    Papiss Cissé

He looks "hot" at the moment! (do not mistake for man love)
  17. Really sickened me last night when I saw the replay, no need whatsoever at this level to do schoolboy crap like that... We are just so brittle when under a bit of pressure, really thought we were going to do this last night until the two calamitous errors... Oh well, we're used to this shit, come with supporting the toon.
  18. What do you mean if? Try the Elephante Blanco in the centre of Lisbon "if" looking for some music beer and a fine "lady"... A mate of mine told me about it :)
  19. For all the jonas haters out there, this is exactly the game we need his services for; lots of running, covering back and drawing the odd foul to slow them down and break play. If he does manage to get close to goal... we can arl gan reet beserk like!!! Hawaaay!!!
  20. Instead of all this carrol talk, if Villa go down (please!) we could try and get benteke, big upgrade on Carrol tbh...
  21. got ridiculed for proposing more or less the same team yesterday, keep jonas and simpson out pls Quite rightly f***s your problem with it, santon? otherwise what's your beef? For one, Haidara didn't travel. Santon has never played on the wing (afaik) either and would be a strange time to try it with 2 full-backs out injured. If Haidara was fit it would be a cool system to try, tbf. It'll be Krul; Simpson, Mapou, Saylor, Santon; Cabaye, Perch; Marveaux, Sissoko, Jonas; Cissé. I agree with the sentiment of keeping Jonas and Simpson out but this is 100% the sort of game Pardew loves Jonas in. Perch will sit deep and break up play. Sissoko will drop deep too with Marveaux sitting forward and Jonas doing a heap of leg work. It'll be all about shutting them out. Spot on there! I think we will battle hard and try to nick a goal (copyright - pards), the outcome will depend on how rattled we can get them and if we get the first goal. portuguese are known for crumbling and fans get nervous pretty quick if goals don't flow...

    Alan Pardew

Problem is that if we funk up again next year and Pardew does get sacked it will be very difficult to hold on to our star players.

The most logical step this summer would be to make an upgrade to our coaching staff, whether it is Pardew himself or his coaching team that lacks that bit extra we will never know. Our squad has improved greatly this year, we add three poiples and that only leaves one glaringly obvious upgrade to be made. I am assuming Mike Ashley will be aware of this, he's been here a few years and has got a grip on it now... Come on fatboy!!!
  24. Backs to the wall fightin' spirit needed tonight, caught this lot at the wrong time as they have a lot of momentum. If we get up and at em' and create a few chances early it might make them a bit more hesitant. I am going for the attacking line up: --------------------------KRUL----------------------------- SANTON------TAYLS-------MAPOU-----------HAIDARA ------------------CABAYE----PERCH-------------------- ----JONAS----------MARVEAUX----------SISSOKO -------------------CISSE---------------------- If our hearts' in it we should be able to do this lot!! Shola on in last twenty to score the winner... you heard it here
