I think that it would be good footballing sense to sell shay for 8 or 9 mill and spend that money wisely on a left back, centre mdfielder and another more flexible defender (right back<centre back). This is if we can persuade harper to sign an extension to his contract...

Shay 7 > Moaning a lot today, can see that he is not a happy bunny! Taylor 5 > Did allright considering that it isn-t his position, needs to overlap with the winger more Coloccini 6 > Plays much better with bassong but his heading ability seems to have been lost completely, all he does now is to compete fro the ball without attempting to head it. It seems to half work? Bassong 8 > What would he be like beside rio ferdinand or john terry? WOW doesn-t bear thought!! Enrique 6> Defended Ok today but his passing was a bit awry until late on in the game. Duff 6> Played decently in the first half and then was double marked in the second. Zoggy 5> didn-t deserve to be on the pitch instead of Jonas Butt 6> Lost his legs after 60 mins, joe needs to realise that we need more impetus in midfield after 60 mins. USE SUBS! Guthrie 7> Very tiday and aggresive, did well today and didn-t stray too many passes Jonas 8> Started off a little shaky but by the 70th minute he was our only real attacking outlet. Manlove declared!!!! Carrol 4> Championship striker. Tough lad but touch doesn-t accompany. get rid. Owen5> Missed a few chances today, one on one aND a few half chances Missed OBA big time today, could have done with both geremi and xisco on for carrol and butt after 70 mins. Sorry, you were crap today joe!!
-
I thought he was alright for the first 25 mins, then after that, every pass and every attempt to control the ball was gash... Made ameobi look like pele. Big strong lad but doesn-t know how to make it to his advantage?
-
Do enjoy!!
-
I thought we played well for 20 minutes and then whenever jonas was given the ball we looked like we might do something. Carrol is crap, sorry but he is. Good in the air? not even that. Why didn-t he bring xisco on? Joe you are crap. Why didn-t he bring on geremi when it was obvious butt couldnt run any more? Joe you pillock
-
we dominated first twenty minutes and had four clear chances. they have crawled back into game. looks quite even now. Carrol gets into good positions and looks a handful but his touch is like a baby elephants, would like to see him get a hold of this game, their defenders are for the taking... Duff is playing quite well, glad zoggy got taken off, didn-t pass one ball properly!
-
Has coloccini revealed that he will be leaving in this transfer window aswell? Seems to be the fashion at the moment<>
-
Get rid, sharpish. Oh dear another deserter... Cheers Ashley!
-
I also think that if we got 8 million for shay it wouldn-t be a bad deal. We have steve harper who is as good as the secoind tier of goalkeepers in this league. It is a damning statement when one of our longest serving and quite loyal players decides to call it a day, he knows we are going nowhere with ashley at the helm. Happy days ...

We desperately need to add fullbacks and a creative midfielder. wthout these we are funcked! Any other player are bonuses as far as I am concerned. Another striker would be handy, a good one that is... -
I feel guilty of man love today... oh well!
-
On the positive side> a lot of results went our way and there are only 5 points between the bottom nine teams! A long way to go yet!!
-
He could undo many wrongs this january by splashing out a decent wedge. We desperately need central defender left back athletic defensive midfielder creative midfielder and a couple of prospects... a la bassong!!
-
No idea...no idea... Please, this bloke is the only decent thing we have in the outfield. Did you all miss the way he repeatedly stole the ball off their attackers once they had got past our defenders? did you all miss the way he held the ball up looking for an outlet whilst being double defended throughout the whole game? did you all miss the 110% effort he put in? did you all miss the way he gliede past their midfielders to find that nobody was available and nobody looking to receive from him??? Unbelievable!

After a claming down period I think I can give my tuppence worth... Joe didn-t have the best of luck with the team selection today, bassong suspended, beye out and Martins and Viduka injured. Out of those four, three are fundamental to any succes we can look for on the pitch. -Bassong gives coloccini a lease of life and they fit each other perfectly, in comes taylor and coloccini is a dithering fool. -Beye is our only right back. I thought joe made a mistake by putting edgar in there instead of Geremi, who would of added experience and at least some sort of attacking threat with Jonas. -Martins keeps teams further back and today we posed ZERO goal threat, they defended at a canter As well as being short of our most influential players (in the last couple of games at least), the rest of the team played in awe of theiur rivals and from the first minute looked like they expected a trouncing apart from our one constant Shay Given. I haven-t seen our defence so disorganised, I havent seen the midfield crumple so badly, I couldn-t beleive joe didn-t have th gumption to put somebody on gerrard in his free role, he caused us so many problems today. Best to forget and move on, I hope we win the next couple of games, they are SO IMPORTANT! GIVEN - NO SCORE NEEDED, SUPERLATIVE! Edgar (4)- out of his depth but tried hard Taylor (4)- positionally he is the worst defender we have, how many times was he pulled out of position so easily. Coloccini (3)- How can he be so different when paired with Taylor? He was crap today, second to everything and horrible decisions. Don-t understand? Enrique (4)- We need a new left back. He has a good game and then a pathetic one. So many bad passes put us under pressure today... Jonas (6)- Disagree with the detractors today, he was the only person capable of withstanding their midfield pressure, of finding an outlet. It doesn-t help much either that nobody offers themselves for a pass, or makes a run to open an angle. Feel sorry for him, deserves a better team, really! Butt (5)- Too old and it showed today against far ore athletic midfielders and people who were composed and who can pass without panicking.\ Guthrie (6)- Tried hard but was outfought and outpassed. Give him a couple of years...maybe Zoggy (4)- didn-t do anything to impress, had an off day aswell. He can defend but is a bit lazy at getting back for me Owen (3)- obviously needs the service, but being so one dimensional means that unless he gets pinpoint service in the box we can forget about having 11 players on the pitch. Duff (5)- worked hard but isn-t a striker. Posed no threat so what use was that to us. Didn-t drop back into midfield enough either. Shola (2) first ten minutes was very positive, then back to old self (suppose there was nothing to play for... but pride?) JFK- Bad again. Geremi instead of edgar. If you are going to play a 442 and attack them, make sure owen has a partner that is bigger or faster than him i.e. not duff!!
-
sad performance, really sad performance!
-
I FEEL SORRY FOR GIVEN AND JONAS, ONLY PLAYERS WHO COULD BREAK INTO A TOP SIX TEAM . SAD PERFORMANCE. FUKC OFF ASHLEY YOU FAT FUKCING KUNT!!
-
need to bring on shola, at least well have someone to jump against hyppia !!!
-
Taylor and Enrique are having stinkers. Coloccini is trying but looks lost without someone to sweep with him. Butt and guthrie are also fucnking useless in midfield, gerrard is having a whale of a time!! Owen looks lost and disinterested, at least duff is trying. Jonas is receiving hospital balls and they are doubling up on him as he is our only real threat. Zoggy needs to pull his socks up. I would change butt or guthriee for geremi in the middle, we just can t keep the ball and I would sling on xisco for the last 15 minutes for owen. No real feeling of hope, they are passing it around well and gerrard is having one of his days, benayoun is also playing very well. Never mind....
-
Looks like joe has funked up on the back row!!! I would have had Geremi at right back instead of edgar. He passes the ball better, links with attack better and has experience. Downside is his pace, but kuyt isn-t that fast anyway. Dissapointed. Owen up fro nt on his own with duff in midfield... no comment

Team: Newcastle United Current Position: 12th Where did you expect your team to cu rrently be: To be quite honest I thought we would be around 8th or 9th in the league had Keegan stayed. Best player so far this season: Gutierrez does it for me, just for the fact that he makes them worth watching again and his 100% effort as well as that gliding guile of his!!!! Worst player so far this season: Quite difficult as there have been apalling individual displays and then they have gone and proved themselves to be useful the week after. Duff, Enrique, Geremi, Butt and Shola have all done this... Best game so far: Portsmouth, we actually looked like a team and a clean sheet away from home with a commanding performance. man u came a close second. Worst game so far: Sunderland, they are in as bad a situation and we couldn-t lift our game to beat the plastic paddies...uuurgh Who would you like to sign in January: A left back to give back up and competition to enrique (who is playing quite well of late) and a creative midfielder who is also a battler. Who wyou like to sell in January:ould Alan Smith and Shola if we can get any dollar for them. Thoughts on your manager so far this season: An honest bloke who seems to be learning from his mistakes and isn-t ruled by the senior professionals. has the players in the team on merit and not name. Quite impressed actually. General thoughts on your team so far: We are capable of a lot more if we are lucky with injuries. A shame that the shambles upstairs has ruined our season, with a stable set up and the same team we would be in 6th or 7th position. Where do you think you’ll finish from this point to the end of the season: I think we will make it up to the top half of the table, can-t really ask for any more. If we do buy a couple of decent players in Jan we could even challenge for intertoto or uefa.

If I could get a guarantee that martins would stay fit and viduka eventually hit form then I would also take the money and run for lickle mickey... -
If he doesn't want to be here then get rid.end of. He will only make the dressing room a weaker element. Get as much as possible and ship him out (if rumours are true obviously!).

I think we will sign a decent left back, back that up with a couple of youngsters and perhaps bring in a creative midfielder. No one leaving until end of season. -
I think 0-1 with a last ten goal. I am totally flumoxed about who I prefer upfront with Owen, on one side Viduka did get the goal after doing sweet FA for the best part of an hour and the other is whether shola will turn up or not... I'll go for Viduka now that he's got another 60 mins under his belt and a few kilos less!!!
