I can't see many clubs coming in for Owen this January, or even next summer, unless he gets a decent run of games in. He wouldn't go anywhere else on a pay as you play contract which is the only thing other clubs would offer. Just for the record we should keep ameobi on for at least 55-60 mins as he deserves it, bring owen on after that so that we don't break him again!!

He didn't exactly do anything wrong did he? Played as well as he could for us after being funcked around repeatedly, give the boy a warm applause when he walks out and that's it!!

As long as he keeps us up I'm happy to stick with him until the end of the season. I wouldn't like us to keep him permanently as I think we need a top manager if we are ever to regain our place near the top of the table. Form is temporary, class is permanent, I think you can apply this to managers aswell, in joe's case I think he has more of the former than the latter...

There should be confidence with whoever he puts upfront, they have all scored recently. He'll probably go for Shola and martins as they have produced the goods so far. Duff is back to decent form and Jonas is our new messiah, just need a couple of decent balls from Barton and we'll be all dutch total football again!!!!! I really would like shola to continue his run, get an early goal and after a couple of funk ups he can come off to be replaced by lickle mickey.

There will be a few butts on the bench tonight TBH ... :)

just been on a couple of the Villa boards and three opinions were dominant: 1) O neill is likely to rest a few players tonight and bring on the fringe players (reo coker or Sidwell?) 2) If they score first it will play well into their system, sit back and counter attack with pace... 3) They think they can rough our defence up (quite probable TBF) Point 2 is what worries me, they are very good at that!

I agree with Brummie, they have bags of pace and a target man who can actually play football. They will be loving it if we come out and pussh up the pitch, with the amount of mistake swe make I reckon they will be set up for the counter attack. I wouldn't have the defence too high up the field today. I'd also make sure bassong is in to tackle the pace of abhonlahor (whatever his name is).

He's a bit spindly, as far as the trainspotters who go to reserve games, reckon. Couple of years and he'll blow the premiership apart

NOTE: I would take Enrique out of the starting line up as both young and Abhonlagor are very quick and like to outpace defenders, bassong may not be great but he has bags of pace... I thought we were lucky to hold on last night. Our second half performance was very disjointed and we couldn't get up a head of steam. The first twenty minutes were very good and we should have had another one or two if luck was on our side. One thing I did notice last night was that the crossing of the ball was woefull, we had at least three occasions when an "easy" cross or pass was needed after a player had done the difficult bit and got into their box, they really need to lift their heads to see where other players are... Defence seemed pretty good to me apart from Colo's stumble.
