What I find strange is there’s no noise about alternative CBs other than Tapsoba last week which wasn’t realistic. Is Guehi an opportunist attempt to sign a player (contract winding down and rivals not wanting him at the price we were willing to pay) and it’s him or nothing?

Think we’re more concerned with the league so being cup tied shouldn’t be a block to a transfer though it’s still unlikely he signs.

We’ll probably still sign him and he misses them for us.

Wish we’d push back on stuff like this. After Parish spouted off to the media the first thing we should have done is said we don’t discuss transfers in public and prefer to keep it between clubs and turn the tables on him.

To be fair from memory that was a placard put up by some fans and became some sort of rallying call around the time the takeover stalled. Don’t think anyone genuinely believed it and it doesn’t obligate others to adhere to the sentiment. With new owners and performance improvement it’s natural to want more and to push on and I wouldn’t blame anyone for having higher expectations now compared to the Ashley era. In saying that the constant moaning doesn’t help anyone. Just find there’s no middle ground on the forum with two extremes. The “pipe down, be happy with your lot, remember how shit it was under Ashley” camp and the “Everything’s shit, PIF don’t care, Brexit Eddie’s ruining our plans” camp.

Not saying that but no point in being upset over albeit a very good player who may not have been that transformational to our style of play. Also we weren’t in the running for his signature.

Better CB than LB I think. Difficult situation the first return to your old club. I’m sure he’ll be a useful addition but I would have partnered him with BDB ( I’m sure two left footers can play together) and played Lewis as LB.
