Gerrard playes for the shirt? how is the man utd song for Gerrard? think it was something like: "Oh Gerrard Gerrard, He kisses the badge on his chest, then puts in a transfer request". I must agree with Carragher playing for the shirt though. Gerrard is playing for trophies and money...

I've been reading throug the whole thread. Like always the discussion of who are the 'REAL' fans come up, about where the 'REAL' fans sit and etc. What is a 'REAL' fan? Why argue about it, we are all 'REAL' fans, we all support the team and want what is best for the team. We all feel the passion for NUFC, so why not stick together? Why not try to get the noise back, does it hurt to try? I've also been watching the songs you guys make up, they are to difficult to learn at the match, alot of ppl will not be able to sing those songs because they dont know em. Good songs are the ones that are easy to remember, then even me who lives in norway, and attend to the odd matches can come to SJP are sing with you. When Newcastle when to play lillestrøm, I was there standing with the nufc section, the main problem was I didnt know most of the songs. But some i learned by listening to the fans, like the one: "shoes off if you love the toon". Its a simple and fun song, and I bet its one of the songs that make the most noise. I also like to say, dont be negative to everything that is new, it might actually work.

Who is this Michael Owen guy? Is it the guy who get shit load of money to watch our games when he feels like it?

I think we are an attractive club, we have some decent players that can attract others. But how is Big Sams reputation in Europe? And to be fair, I dont think he had the best rep. in Bolton. People consider his style as boring, only old players that could play for them etc. To attract big name players today, to get a great players, I think we need a great manager. Just look at Svennis, he can attract good players to a mediocre club. Look at Benitez, he could just pick anyone he liked from spain, and has done Liverpool in to a top european side( nr 2 in europe actually).

Mr Sheperd last seen playing optimus prime http://www.smoth.portodiao.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/05/optimus-prime-715756.jpg

I Think we still need to strengten our defence in the first place: 2 left backs, 1 central defender(experienced/star player), 1 Right back. I depends very much on which style Big Sam is thinking to play. If we are going to play 4-3-3 i think we need a playmaker and a midfielder right/left. If we play 4-4-2, i think we need a DMC(kind of vieira or kean kind of type) and a playmaker(star player). I think our strikers will work very well if we can keep the 4 of them. But that is my opinion. The way I think big sam would play today's squad: Goalkeepers: given, harper and krull Right back: Geremi, Solano, Carr Left Back: Babayaro Central Defender: Taylor, Rozehnal, Ramage, huntington and Edgar Rigt Midfield: Solano, Geremi, Milner, dyer left midffield: Zoggy, Milner, duff, pattison, Luque, emre Central midfield: Butt, barton, dyer, geremi, zoggy, emre Strikers: Owen, Martins, Viduka and Ameobi 4-3-3 / 4-5-1 Midfield: Zoggy, butt, barton, dyer, emre and geremi would be my choice Strikers/wingers: Milner, duff, Luque, martins, viduka, ameobi, and owen. I dont think martins, owen and Viduka would make a good partnership in a 4-3-3 formation, and I would just use one of them if we are going to play like that. Use Milner, duff and and Luque on the "wings". But that is just my opinion.. I really hope we get some star playmaker, and a star center back, then I think we will become one of the top 5 again
-
Neither of them really. But if I had to pick it would be Heinze. Riise is way way overrated imho, he got a decent shot, and work hard, but that is all! He cant pass the ball, defensivly he is shite, and more out of position than Carr. It must be a reason why Benitez is so eager to get a new left back if Riise is that "good".

-And of that reason he should have gone to a club where he have to perform at high level every match. In Rosenborg he haven't enough competiton about a place in the squad, and then he lose his great intensity. I'm sure Braaten could have an international carreer if he goes to a club where he have to stay focused to have a place in the squad. He need a strong manager. And I guess SamA is strong enough If that is the case, that he doesnt have enough competiton for the first team, why is he often putted on the bench? Braathen imho will never make it in the premiership, I think he is the simular type to luque= a lazy s... player with talent.
-
Braathen is playing for Rosenborg, doing ok. Been in and out of the team. He got what it takes to become a great player, great technique, accelration, strong, good tackler, but he is just to damn lazy. He is a real waste of talent...
-
That's being very optimistic regardless of the length of the contract tbh. Dunno when its going out, but would love us to get some money back. We have wasted to much money on players that are not playing.
-
Given Solano/Carr Hyypia Ben Haim/Campbell Babayaro Milner Butt Parker Duff Martins*/Owen* Ameobi/Luque* *Depends if those three would still be at our club the next season. Can easily see Owen going, think Liverpool will be taking him "home" now as Fowler is done. Its a nice way to win over some supporters too for Benitez. If Martins is unhappy, I think he will go. Luque is a big ? this season for me, if anyone can turn him around, its SA.

I would Love Baines and Bale, both are mint! I believe Bale would be a cheaper option than Baines, and its under Big Sam i bet he will become great! ....Cant say i have seen to much of Shorey to make any judgement. You got the names the wrong way round mate? Getting tired, but edited it now :-)
-
when is Luque's contract going out? I hope he playes another season, does a good job up front and then we sell him for 5M+

What is it with you people writing Taylor off? I think Taylor is one of the most important players for the future. All top clubs have home grown players, and it takes that to win. Like Gerrard in the CL league Final a few years back, Scholes for man utd over the years, Terry and Carragher always giving 110% for the club they love. Taylor has something that cant be bought for money, he has grown up here, and he loves the club. I Believe Taylor will be our Carragher, and does anyone remember how shite Carragher was in the start for Liverpool? Does anyone remember Terry struggle when he was younger? Give taylor time, let him mature in to the team. Give him a leader to play alongside, like Carragher had in Hyypia, like Terry had in Desailly, then we will have a top top class player. I just hate how we write off players in here, how fast we turn against our own. We need to be supportive of our players, hail them when they are doing great, motivate them when they are playing bad, and thats the way to become winners...!

Huntelaar has been steadily improving over the last 2 years. My only reservation is the Dutch league is so weak the goalscoring stats are often misleading. I'd prefer the Peruvian boy at PSV. Hmmm... PSV is also a dutch side.. would the Peruvian kid also be mislead?
-
I have not known what it exactly means, but when i read about a player going awol i know what has happened. But it's not that easy for everyone, especially if your'e not from England...Do you know what FITTA means for example? Fitta means P*ssy in norwegian :-)
-
In a typicall 4-4-2 formation I think Cisse would be excellent, getting behind the defenders on early crosses from our wingers. But if we play 4-3-3/4-5-1 I would doubt him comming any good like he was in Liverpool.
-
I think that'd be a very risky move. You've got to get (well, FS has got to get) this appointment right. So why take a chance on a foreign manger who, although he may have an excellent record in the very, very different environment of the Primera Liga, may very well fail to settle in the UK and fail to adapt to our game, regardless of his ability. For every Arsene Wenger there are plenty of Jo Venglos's. Allardyce is imho the right appointment - he's proven, he's available, and he'd take the job. But I get the impression reading through here that he's seen by many as somehow not quite "glam" enough. What is it with you guys, and only wanting "proven" premiership managers?? What exactly has Big Sam proven in the premiership? I fear that Big Sam would be something simular to O'Leary. He does a GREAT job as long as he doesnt have money, but when he gets money he buys shite players. We have a history of appointing "proven" premiership managers, and it fail most of the time. You got Dalglish, Gullit, Souness and Roeder, did they succeed here?? No, they didnt. So why cant we try to find the next Wenger, Benitez or Mourinho? No, we need a manager that has a premiership history, or has a English nationality. We rather go for shite, than pick a class foreign manager... I think we should get the best manager that we can get, no mather what nationality, or what league he comes from. I think we should look for a manager who has good connections around the world, and can attract quality players. A manager who can build a winning team, and has his own staff(because ours sucks). We need a manager who knows tactics, and can teach our player to play his tactics(like Benitez, and wenger for their clubs). Isnt Jose Pekerman available? He is one of the few Great managers we could attrackt here. He knows talented players in south america, as he just to work for the Argentinian Under 20 and Under 17. He did well with the Argentina Nationalside in the world cup, they played good football, and has the balls to dropp "star" players.

I take Sven any day over Roeder. Sven is a great manager, who was never going to be loved as manager for England, and he did do a good job. My problem with Roeder is; - We look better the less available players we have. The kids looks more motivated than the "first team" players. - It seems for me that him and his backroom staff cant motivate the players. We only look decent against the top5 sides. - His tactics often fail, and he is a soft version of Souness. Think the only reason we did great under him last season. - Cant see Roeder here in the future, and I dont think the players can either = Dont think the players have faith in him. - He needs to learn of the big bosses, when talking to the press. You dont go out in the middle of the season saying lots of players is going to be shipped out of the club. - Dont think Roeder can attract big name signings. Cant see noone joining because we got Roeder. Think Svennis would be a great manager for us, and he is a manager I can see stay with us for a 5 year+ time. I also think Svennis has alot of the things Roeder lacks, and he(Sven) is more proffesional + He can attract big name signings. He can also attract media attention, and get the focus of the players and on him, something which is a good thing. Just watch what Mourinho is doing.

Real Madrids Lilian Thuram? Thought Thuram was a barcelona player
-
All good stuff in principle but f****** difficult to do in practice....... Yes it is, but we have to start somewere... and we aint...

I think we need a new chairman, board, manager and coaches/physios/scouts. And we need to get a better youth system, maybe learn from ajax, psv, boca juniors, liverpool, man utd, bayern munich and etc. If we have a great youth system, we dont have to put our faith in "big name" signings. Then we could have more to pick from, and wouldnt go around with only a first team 11. I say, lets get in a good manager, which the club and the fans approve. Lets get in a Director Of Football, so the manager can concentrate on the football and not lots of other stuff. Then we should give him time to build up his own team, and get rid of the over paid injury-prone/lazy players. Get the wage bill down all over, and get a fine mixture of talented and experienced players. We need to get the next Scholes, Terry(might be taylor), or Gerrard. And those players love thei club, and will do everything the can to win something at their clubs. The only way I can see us getting such quality players with the hearth in our club, is if we get them out of our own youth system. We need to find star players at very young age, and build out our scouting network in Europe, south america and asia. Have connections which can inform us when they see great players, so we can buy them at a cheap price. If you all see at the top 4, they all have "home grown" players who is central in the team, and they also have a great scouting network. Maybe its time to learn something from them?

I agree with you that Emre isn't good enough for where we want to be. While you're wondering what people see in Emre I'm wondering why, since you've spotted that with Emre, you seem unable to spot that Parker is a load of s****. I think Mr Parker will be back, but he needs time after that illnes he had. And Roeder should put him in special training, so I wouldnt write Parker off just yet. And maybe run some tactical training on him, because he has the abilities, but he doesnt seem like a smart enough player. And for god sake, we should only use him as a Def midfield. And he should be our captain, because he doesnt speak enough to the players. So I think Parker has the potenial to be a top 4 club player, but he isnt there today. We are desperat for a new manager, someone who can manage the players, motivate them, and also has great tactical knowledge. Ok, your opinion. Mine is that other than 1 good season at Charlton he's never been anywhere decent to come back from. Yes that is my opinion, and I will stick with it But I was just wodering about your opinion, what is so wrong with parker? He started out good for us under souness imo, but after that illnes he got, he hasnt been the same after. But that is my opinion, dont know if you share that one.
