    Michael Owen

If u guys runned a club, would you pay 120k a week for a player that only played around 46 games since 2005.
  2. I say play an unfit Barton over Ameobi any day... I think we would have been better off playing 4-5-1 against Arsenal, defending and trying to counter attack.
  3. We got smith and ameobi, are those two the most useless players in the premiership??
  4. Ha shola ameobi ever been on form? If we dont get in 3-4 players then we can kiss the cups and top 10 finnish goodbye.
  5. I just sow the match on TV. I must say Taylor looked absolutly brilliant and took the easy route many times, instead of trying to do a bramble. He looks more mature this season than he ever been. Coloccini was strugling a bit in the air, but like the commentators said how often did he play against a team like Bolton and Davies, all around he had a good match. I think Zoggy did a great job comming forward, and didnt make to many errors at the back either. Givens penalty save was AWESOME My biggest dissapointment of this match was Guthrie, he was so slow on the ball especially in the first half. He made some errors which made my think about Titus Bramble. I'm glad he did it against bolton and not man utd. I think he was trying to hard to impress his former teammates. Like ppl mention earlier, Martins must be in the box. His positioning needs to be worked at. Btw: Has Geremi gain a few pounds, he looked fat and slow today. It was a good result, but we need to pass the ball quicker than we did today. It was like the ball was always played behind the player, or to slow passes. We need to get the ball moving quicker to outplay shitty teams like Bolton. Owen and Given won us the game today.

    The squad

Our goalies are top3 Our defence is top 10, because our central defenders are not good enough yet. Our Midfield(especially central midfield) are our weakest spot in the team right now. We need a good DMC(Butt is to old, dont even rate cacapa in this role), and a creative midfielder. Our forward line is top 6 when they are not injured, otherwise like top 10.
  7. O'Brien could head a ball. http://www.motivate.maths.org/conferences/conf73/Images/Andy%20O%27Brien%2002.jpg
  8. He's got all the speed of a lethargic tortoise. He's got the ability - but in slow motion. Do YOU watch the team ? give over mate, Cacapa isn't a bad defender by any means IMHO i think Cacapa is shite. He is to slow for the premiership, and Portsmouth new that. He is decent if we play Pubteams like Fulham, derby etc. btw: Brede is ok, nothing special... And Harry-Norway its enough with one ! instead of 20.
  9. People are so negative because as keegan said, we need atleast 4 players to go straight in to the starting 11. We have gotten one now, and we seriously need creativity on our central midfield. We have now lost emre, barton is in jail, so we are left with Smith, Geremi, and butt as our only natural players in central mid. We got zoggy and Milner who can play in the middle, but is better of playing out wide. If one of our 4 backs get injured, we only have Cacapa and David Edgar to come in for them. We are currently playing with 3 strikers, and we only have 3 decent strikers, which one of them is injured half of the season. Is given/harper good enough to be our goalies? We have krul who is up and comming, but i would personal love if we went for that russian goalie. We have a thin squad, and we have gotten rid of more players than we have bought. Well enough about that.. Jonas Gutierrez is a player many of us dont know about, that is why we are concerned. He doesnt have a good goalscoring record, or assist record. Personally i think we should have gotten a central midfield player, but maybe keegan is thinking of using him as a wingstriker up front, or going back to 4-4-2. Is anyone suggesting that the current squad is sufficient for the season ahead? We still have plenty of time to get players in......how many clubs have signed loads of players so far? We won't know till the transfer window shuts whether the effort that will be going on behind the scenes is good enough. Personally I am not going to get upset about who we haven't signed a week into the transfer window..... If you look at the top 8, they all have larger squads than us. They are most likely to buy squad player, and maybe one world class player to make them better. We had a small squad last season, and we have gotten rid the likes of Emre(was considered 1st team player when he wasnt injured) and Rozenhal(was 1st team player at the start of the season, and I rate him higher than Cacapa). We have gotten one player in, and he isnt a MC or a DC. We need like Keegan said 4 players to walk straight in to the 1st team, but we also lack squad players. If we buy like 8 players in this transfer window, we will still have a small squad. I dont know what our ambition is for next season, but i think we should aim for a uefa cup spot atleast. Then we need players in quick, because they need to know each other to play good. If we sign a player in middle the start of august, he will have like 20 days to get to know the other players on the pitch. And would most likely look like Luque when the season starts. I don't disagree we have a small squad. Ideally we'd get several players in for pre-season but the reality is some will join early and some later in the window. The main thing is to get them in. I don't think this is different to how other clubs operate......in reality we're suffering from the dross we've signed in recent seasons, the squad's needed major surgery and I don't think we're going to fix that in one window, as much as I'd love us to do that. I agree with you here. But if we are going to have success, we have to bring in players in the start of the window. So we can only focuse on the league and the cups. Like Man Utd did last season.

  13. When KK is back everyone who earns over 40k a week will be sold. We will get in a few uknown tallents, and most ppl will complain that we didnt spend enough in the transfermarket.
  14. I think your totally spot on here Mick. We dont just need a central midfielder, we need a world class one. We need a player that playes with his heart and can get the rest with him. We also need a class DMC(butt was good at the end of the campain, but he isnt getting any younger). With media saying Barton get an ultimatium and we are now planing to sack him, we also need a replacement for him. Thats 3 first team players, we also need backup players for these 3(Milner and N'zogbia might work). We need a class big striker who isnt injury prone. If we can get Bafetemi Gomis for 10-15M, I say go for him. I think we also need a backup up front. We need Backup players for both Beye and Enrique. We just lost Rozenahl to Lazio, so we need to get a replacement for him. When I think about it, we need a new team....
  15. I want us to have a full squad before the pre-season training and matches starts. They players need to get to know each other, in and out of the pitch. Didnt Man utd sign all players really early in last year transfer window? And a year later they are the champions of europe and the premiership. The faster we get in a team, the faster we can start prepering for a new season, find the right tactics etc.

    Duff to Mackems?

I agree with what you're saying. I'm all for getting rid of the likes of Smith, Duff, Emre, etc. but I'd like to have seen the replacements come in first. Let's just hope the club has their replacements lined up. Having said that I don't think the squad would be weakened by selling Smith. Anyone could replace him and do a better job. Getting rid of Duff would be great. He is no threat to the opposition on the pitch. I think Kazenga LuaLua would do a better job. N'Zogbia may be happier to stay if Duff goes. If we sell Duff to Sunderland for £5 million it would confirm my belief that we have Derren Brown doing our fee negotiating with the other clubs (£8m for Emre). It should speak volumes of what Newcastle think of Duff if they are willing to sell him to Sunderland. I agree with you that we should get replacements before we sell players. But Duff had 16 games for us, and Emre had 14, they can hardly be called players imo. So i think its great business to get rid of these two as soon as posible, and then get a replacement for them. If we were to sell for example zoggy, then i think we should get a replacement before we sell. If Emre and Duff goes, will their personal nufc physios go with them?
  17. Thats just a lot of Bullshite... If u buy from any other league who doesnt speak english you have to deal with "the language/culture/climate issues..." "different playing style of the EPL as opposed to many of the South American leagues." So can be said about the rest of the leagues too, even the SPL. Look at boomsong, he wasnt up for the pace and strenght of the EPL. Luque was shite too, Enrique didnt know the language, and so on. From your comment here, we should only buy overated players from the Premier League. And yes there are some "hidden gems" in the rest off the leagues as well, and many of them are OVERATED. There is always a risk when you sign a player, will he fit in etc. But that is up to our scouts and the manager to find out. And our scouting team is supposed to be world class now, so we should be abble to spot who is hot and who is not. To find the next Messi, Ronaldo, Maradona etc we have to scout the entire world. And to the work permit thingy, I think it goes by how many games they have played for there national team or something like that. But Liverpool strugled to get work permit on Mark Gonzales, Arsenal strugled to get on Carlos Vela, and they both loaned out the players till they had enough games to get a work permit, why dont we do the same? The players are young and would most likely be in our reserve side anyways, so why dont let the get games for other clubs in other leagues instead... Man Utd got the work permit for John Obi Mikel, and Chelsea bought JOB from them. He was in Man Utd a day or something. Chelsea bought him for 12M pound, and Lyn got almost half of it.

    Arda Turan?

are we starting to call people slow if they don't have bellamy style speed ? To be a winger he is slow, and so was Viana. He is also a small player who likes to much time with the ball, and so was Viana.

    Arda Turan?

For some reason this guy reminds me a bit of Hugo Viana. Maybe because bot are slow left wingers, dunno.
  20. Do we really want Richard Dunne at Newcastle? I would say no! For me 6M for Dunne is to much, and I bet we can go out and find a better and younger DC for that price.
  21. Actually, that is 4. Shooting, technique, Big, and strong(as in uses his strenght against players).
