  1. Everyone's a comedian. Ameobi starting is a good choice, and given our quality of full-backs today, I doubt we would need to punt it long.
  2. Lolo, Shearer, Nobby, Ameobi.

McClaren is one lucky mother-trucker. His team concedes a bucketful so he throws on two extra strikers - the only real available recourse = McClaren is praised for his tactics! Lampard and Crouch are unavailable - they're replaced with Barry and Heskey = McClaren is praised for his selection!
  4. Sam Allardyce doesn't seem too fond of leaving him out of the team, when, for me, there are three strikers fit right now who I'd play ahead of him in Owen, Martins and Ameobi. With less creativity in midfield than we would otherwise have were certain other players fit, I think the onus falls on the strikers to create more for themselves in a 4-3-3 system, and I think the pace and dexterity of the aforementioned three would make our attack far more unpredictable and dangerous. Viduka has done -fairly- well so far, but his contribution is a little one-dimensional and will surely encourage longer balls when we need a goal quickly.
  5. I missed Football Italia. Veeeery slow match. Don't think Seria A understands the concept of breaking.
  6. Steven Taylor. He just wants it so much! And if he missed he'd be angry with himself and would make sure we didn't concede. Crazy mofo. Him, or Shola.
  7. Simple stuff, but this is why you win those coveted awards GemGem.
  8. Harper - 7 - Solid. Not much to do though perhaps could've done better on the goal. Maybe. N'Zogbia - 7 - Impressive display against decent opposition. Interesting prospect at LB. Taylor - 7- Courageous and solid. Rozhenhal - 6.5 - May get slated for this, but he looked a little uncomfortable and shaky at times during the second half. That said, it's not unnatural for a Premiership newbie to lose a little composure when faced with an aggressive/wounded Bolton. Promising though. Carr - 6 - A team is only as strong as its weakest link. Milner - 7.5 - Industrious and effervescent performance. A real danger. Getting some end product. Geremi - 8 - Immense. Excellent bridge from defence to attack. Smith - 7 - Archetypal Alan Smith, and he'll get better as he goes. Butt - 7.5 - Efficiently kept things ticking over. His redemption from his horror first season is completely complete. Viduka - 6.5 - A little anonymous for me, didn't seem too matchfit. Hm. Martins - 8 - A difficult second half, but gets the 8 for having the quality that he does. Magical overhead kick. Subs: Ameobi: Thankless tast getting battered chasing balls no one could win against two overly-physical defenders. Ramage: No time. Solano: Did okay. Good calming influence.
  9. Milner v Bolton. Shola will get 801.
  10. cough* beardsley*cough. would have been a good idea when roeder was manager, not sure what allardyce would make of it if true. It would be nice to have him at the club on some capacity and if it was just selling the club to players, investors, advertisers etc i can't think of anyone better. The exception that proves the rule... erm..........mark mcghee ? You can hardly compare McGhee in '79 to Keegan in '82 though surely?? mcghee returned as a player (and a damned sight better one thasn the one who left originally),keegan never returned in the same capacity. got to admit i was struggling to think of players we'd resigned (hibbitt and lee clarke came to mind) Robbie Elliott, Bernard, Solano. Clark.

  12. Highly impressive at the tailend of last season, and I'm not sure whether loaning him out would be best, because you know the second we loan him out on a non-voidable deal, three of our strikers are going ot get injured.
  13. Not to dismiss your whole argument in one specious fell swoop, buuut... I think Argentina are just better managed than Brazil at the moment. Even so, Brazil are still better.
  14. Times have changed. The supporters have not been given any real reason to get behind players, and they really really haven't. Not one player was exempt from criticism this season - even Shay! That said, the fans should support the team irrespective of how good they are. That isn't to say they can't have an opinion/criticise etc - they do/did pay the money to see the side, but there's a time and place IMO.
  15. I thought he was alone with the three he had before this one... Only person to have won it with three different clubs IIRC. 4 times total though.

Kinky. Noo! I meant tying him down to a contract! Whatever floats your boat. Given our already limited squad size, we'd have to bring in around 9-10 faces this summer if we want to push on from this season's finish IMO.
