Manchester Utd 0 - 1 Newcastle Utd - 07/12/13 - Post-match euphoria from p29
gazza ladra replied to Greg's topic in Football
Our wins against Chelsea, Tottenham and Man.Utd have all been highlighted in the media as the opposition being "poor", and very little being said about our quality or tactics. Been looking for a positive spin on our win, but that only seems to be on here and in The Chronicle. MOTD were obviously very 'selective' with their footage. But you're right, if we sneak under the radar then it may help us in the long run. Hopefully surprise a few pundits with our final league position. I don't think that is quite accurate. Most every thing I've read or heard begins with "I think Pardew got his tactics spot on..." or "it's difficult to believe that a month ago, people were calling for Pardew's head, but I think..." That's the lead... 1) Pardew has out-managed (Mourinho/AVB/Moyes), 2) Begin criticism of (Mourinho/AVB/Moyes) -

Already hearing the talk about about how Barkley is too good for Everton. Please ignore us. -

And most would snap their hands off for their "shit manager". I know I'd take Moyes in a heartbeat. -

The Managerial Merry Go Round™ - Frank in at Tottenham

Picked Hughton, MacKay, and Villas Boas. All three would be a mistake IMO. The next to go will probably be Hughton. I still don't understand why he's in so much trouble. A home loss to Villa aside, I think they've done about as good as can be expected. Can't see them getting much from their next four so he'll be gone. Still, a loss away to Fulham ought be enough to see AVB off. Here's hoping. -
I want answers.

It's not about Barton and Giggs, it's about Giggs and Terry and the role the press played in lionizing the one and villifying the other. Barton makes a valid point. (You could argue that he's not the one to be questioning the morality of anyone. Fair enough. But that's not going to stop him.) Anyway, I think he's 100% right. Still wish he'd just shut up already.

But just think of how motivated Shola will be if Nigeria can get past Ethiopia.

2014 FIFA World Cup Brasil™ - Europe vs. America
gazza ladra replied to LucaAltieri's topic in Football
I was pissed tbh. Ghana has been the death of us the past two WCs, but I still wanted to see an African team do well. Put Suarez on the cunt map too. Me too. I was behind Ghana 100%. -
FSC? At one point when it was called Fox Sports World, they were broadcasting the Premier League, Bundesliga, Eredevise, and Ligue 1 games. Their product got poorer (and I suspect more profitable) with each passing season. Good riddance.

Don't think it really matters when either Belgium or Colombia were in the last World Cup... or how good England were 4 or 8 years ago. IMO the teams seeded should be the ones that are the best teams right now. And so I have no problems with either Belgium or Colombia being seeded. (Both have been impressive.) Admittedly, the Dutch missing out is problematic. But I really can't fathom how anyone can think that England have merited a top seed. -
What have Sunderland done to Altidore? He looks awful now.
-
Youth side loses to Panama and Mexico misses out on the World Cup. That would really go over well with the neighbors.
-
RTG's Altidore trolls are better than our Altidore trolls. (Actually, they're probably the same people) Four separate "Altidore" threads on the front page.

As far as I know, it's not the Guardian per se it's just Glendenning. He brought it up in the play-by-play blog (before halftime) and then again during the football Weekly podcast. There appears to be no other source for this other than him.

That is bullshit, man. Especially about Parker.
