Miggy has basically had one purple patch in nearly 5 years here, his 8 goals in 9 games last season, and other than that has very little to show. (12 goals in his other 138 games) If every Nufc fan knows he can't kick with his right foot and has to cut inside, then i'm pretty sure every manager does too. 3 chances for Miggy to be the hero on Sunday, and i will give it to him that Allison's save will possibly be the save of the season, and the post is so close, but ultimately none go in. Diaz (albeit a £85m signing) gets 2 chances and scores both, that's the difference. I dont dislike him, and we won't find anyone with more heart, but if we are to progress, he will eventually need to be replaced with better.

is Eddie willing to go with Barnes and Gordon both starting? or is he hell bent on it being one or the other? would prefer either of those on the right to Miggy or Murphy.
-
Personally i think Miggy is our weakest link, but, this is the season to prove otherwise. One purple patch last season gave him his only decent return for us in 5 seasons. In this team, if he's half decent he should be getting 10 goals and similar assists this season. Gets in loads of good positions, and rarely makes anything of it. Scored in 10 out of 40 games last season, needs to improve on that this one.

Not sure we were quite as bad as some folks are making out, and some of the stuff being written on facebook is absolutely embarrassing. Allison doesn't make that wonder save and we go into half time 2-0 up, and i'd have fancied a hat-full. Miggy's shot goes in off the post, and we seal the win. The ball bounces off Botman's arse and doesn't hit his heal and Nunez isn't in. Subs were agreeably frustrating, especially Gordan and Tonali. Time to move on, next week a win would be massive to get us up and running after losses against 2 clubs who have both been European champions in the last 5 years, and reached 5 of the last 6 CL Finals between them.

When that ball hit his backside, it would have dropped most likely safely, until it hit his heel and played them into score. Was immense before that. Fingers crossed for his injury.
-
Allison's wonder save and miggy's post, it would be game over. Typical.

Great episode that! Extra admiration for Wilson, and Eales seems the ideal bloke to have at the club.

Plenty of empty seats at the Barca match in their small stadium

10/1 to go down, Rotherham on Saturday almost already looking like a 'must win' given their fixtures after that. If they dont get a half decent striker on loan, it's going to be funny.
-
Thought we played pretty well there last season and could have got something, certainly had chances, then mistake from Trippier and it was game over. Really think we can get something this time.
-
Anyone find the odds for Mogga to be the next manager to leave his post? Or not finish the season? Can get 10/1 on them going down, fair chance when they don't have a single goalscorer.
-
Miggy had one purple patch where his goals came, pretty much his only purple patch in his time here. I hope he plays even better this coming season, but I fear he won't. Barnes has proven he'll get goals and assists over the last 4 seasons.
-
Be a good signing, and a upgrade on some current options we have. In the last 4 seasons Barnes has played in 127 games, Maxi 111 and Miggy 134 so actually not a huge difference, but Barnes has 34 goals and 23 assists in that time. Maxi 12+18 Miggy 20+5 £35m seems a decent price for that output, especially considering the ludicrous valuation some place on Maxi.

Ah ok, though it looked legit or i wouldnt have shared it. Sick of seeing concepts, and now ive fallen for one!

Ordered one from on there the day they came out, hopefully be here in the next couple of weeks. Had a few from there and only thing you can knock is the sizing.
-
I'm sure with their midfield full of players better than the marvellous Jeff Hendrick they will comfortably finish in the top 15 of the Champo.

Seen a couple of folk on facebook that have been to Turkey on hols this last week with random Newcastle Adidas Saudia shirts theyve bought over there

Champions League 2023/2024: Group F (Newcastle, Milan, Dortmund, PSG)
Karjala replied to Marko NUFC's topic in Football
Would be happy with a couple of wins and 3rd spot, think dropping into Europa wouldn't be a bad thing, though could add quite a few games. -
Chelsea away is winnable, they've given up weeks ago. Brighton is winnable, of course also could lose. We must surely beat Leicester.
-
We need Millwall to beat Blackburn and Coventry to get something at Boro if the Mackems win, don't we?
-
Is there still an advantage to finishing 3rd rather than 4th concerning the Champions League? Does 3rd guarantee it, and 4th require a qualification play off first?
-
Villa are flying of course, and definitely capable of having a big influence on the top 4 places. But if they are to get into the Champions League, it will take some effort. 6pts behind, with only 7 games to play, and teams above have at least 1 game in hand, as well as the fact they still have to play Brentford, Manure and Liverpool away as well as spuds and Brighton at home. You'd think they'll need at least 6 wins out of those 7 and the teams above to lose 2 or 3 each. Every game has been massive this season, and the next 8 will continue to be so. Looking at the next 4 matches (3 at home), 8+ points would put us in an excellent position for the final 4 games.
-
8 games to go, and its still totally in our hands. Beating Spuds next week would be huge, and be an immediate feel good factor again after today. Still could be any 2 of us, manure, spuds and Brighton IMO. Said it all season though, i'd be delighted with top 6.
