  1. So you genuinely think that McEachran, Cleverley or Rodwell are all better than Beckham? You must think very highly of them or think Beckham is crap, either way you would be wrong Are those players over 23 like? You're allowed 3 players over 23. The 3 he has picked - Richards, Giggs and Bellamy - are all better than Beckham. Fair enough, my mistake then, missed the over 23 limitations, though I am not convinced of how good Giggs still is.
  2. Ya forgot bout Best leaving. That means if Ba goes to, we're left with Cisse, De Jong (hopefully) and Shola!
  3. The higher our bid, the more convinced I am that we won't have Ba for next season.
  4. So by posting in a thread, Dave gets to know all the sites we visit

As I said this is all good if it means we don't scrimp on our first team targets.

Sure but $600k is a bit high for a squad player if it is true that we are looking behind the sofa for some loose change to up our bid for some of our targeted firs team players

So we signed a squad player for $600k when we really need is a CB to partner Colo??
  9. I'm with you, its f***ing boring. Passing is a means to attack not an ends in itself. It's all fine showing of your passing skills, but very little action takes place in the final third of the pitch. I suppose the Barca bumming boys might find Spain's play enjoyable because of oooh look at their possession statistics. I hope Germany t*** them in the final. Absolutely mental opinion. The idea that Barca or Spain are boring is ridiculous, you're not fully appreciating all the aspects of football if you think that IMO. Patience, technique, persistence, pressing the ball in defense, I could watch them play all day. Also, as Iniesta said the other day, teams set out to contain and frustrate Spain, so that results in a tight game. If people would be brave enough to attack them, the game would be more open. You misunderstood me, I like Barca's style because they have that cutting edge largely due to the combination of Iniesta and Messi. Spain is Barcelona without Messi and without that cutting edge in the final third, they are f***ing boring. The whole 'other teams set out to frustrate Spain" is just an excuse (do you expect Iniesta to admit that they are boring s***). Whilst it might be true for some games, it does not always apply. For the record for large part of yesterday's game Portugal looked like the team more intent on attacking and instead of exploiting this, Spain was just fannying around passing the ball in midfield and showing off their superior passing and possession stats. Sorry football is about scoring goals not passing the ball aimlessly

  11. Am I the only not to be really impressed with his performance in Euros? Sure he will be a great improvement to Simpson but that's more to do with how bad Simpson is. Defensively he looked ok, offensive wise he did look to be full of energy and running but once he was in the attacking quarter of the pitch, didn't look like he could cross or shoot accurately, was a bit of hit and miss. 7+M seems quite high and think we can do better (both ability and value for money)
  12. How many times has Ba said through different channels that he loves it here and wants to stay. It's not his fault if people chose to ignore what he is saying and chose to read between the lines based on some agent talk in trashy tabloid. This is totally different from the Enrique situation. The club has not even put a contract offer (sans the clause) on the table.

    NUFC Kits

Yes its been out 3 months but nobody updated the thread title Sold out everywhere IIRC Thanks, is it the one displayed on the official club website? The home strip still says 2011/2012 though whereas the away strip says 2012/2013?

Is the new kit for 2012/2013 season out yet? Thanks
  15. It's amazing how Carrol can bring down the ball well but fucks up even the simplest of passes

Yup, I'm happy to refocus this thread back to HBA. Just have to say that anyone checking those links can see how Sewelly has been very selective with how he presented 'facts'. Iniesta was joint highest with a few others on sky sports and on some of those links, he was highest only in the fans voting column where presumably Iniesta bumming fans like Sewelly voted in for their footballing god. Soccernet had Pirlo as MOM. Iniesta has yet to lit up the tournament. Cant wait for HBA to school him in their upcoming match. Now back to HBA

Disagree, Spain had trouble playing their normal possession football especially in the first half as Pirlo had the better of Iniesta and was dictating play. Quite a few major football websites gave Pirlo the MOM in that match. In any case even if Iniesta played a blinder against Italy (which he didn't), which is 1 in 3, it's hardly enough to say that he has been brilliant in Euros which was the original point

No he's been f***ing s**** mate. As if they've snuck Nicky Butt onto the pitch instead. No need to get your knickers in a twist mate, no Spanish player has performed brilliantly so far. Iniesta in particular has been outshined by Pirlo and Modric in their respective games

    Has Iniesta performed brilliantly?

I noticed that too. HBA was the odd one out amongst the front 4 with Nasri in particular refusing to pass him. In the first 30 minutes, HBA was making quite a few runs behind the Swede defense but when nobody was picking his runs, he lost interest quickly and his performance went downhill from then onwards
  21. Will be schooled by HBA against France
